Grace doesn't have any memories of her past life, but when she's helping Evan, she feels a feeling she's never felt before, and then Evan becomes the only part of Grace's past life she remembers. will their separation bring them closer together?

3. Missions & Machines

Grace P.O.V

"Pfft, Grace," Kate said after taking one look at me. We were in the disguise unit finding someone for me to look like on my next mission. D.E.A.T.H officers are prohibited to go down to the living world looking as yourself because last time someone did that, the dead person's family committed suicide after being heartbroken at the fact that he didn't know who they were.

"I think this outfit brings our my eyes," I spun around in the mirror. I was dressed in a big fluffy blue gown dress with blonde hair that was tied in an elegant knot.

"People are going to be suspicious, sweetie." Kate said and blew a big bubble out of her strawberry gum. Kate herself had long straight black hair that went down to her waist, and always wore all black with an exception of a red plaid flannel that was always unbuttoned.

"Alright, then." I walked back into the changing machine, which was only for us D.E.A.T.H officials. with one touch of a button it completely changed me, from my eye color, to face, to skin color, to outfit, but it couldn't change your voice. That's how the speaker always knows they're talking to the right person through the sound piece. "How's this?" I said when I came back out.

"Reasonable." A grin spread across Kate's face. I ran to the mirror. I was identical to her. The only different thing was my voice.

"BACK TO THE CHANGING MACHINE." I called and marched back in. I came out 5 seconds later and peered into the mirror. "Ooh I like this..." I was wearing a light purple shirt with dark black pants. I had bright red hair. I looked about 11, and looked quite overweight for my age.

"Great, let's go." Kate said and we walked to the mission gear room. I slipped on my red sneakers, and began putting in my ear piece.

"Who are we saving today?"I asked.

"Luan Green." Kate said reading off the screen in the front of the room. "Some kid stole her teacher's workbook and blamed it on her. She's shy and doesn't want to speak out."

"Well then let's do this." I grinned and entered the 25 digit code for a door labeled DO NOT ENTER CERTIFIED D.E.A.T.H OFFICIALS ONLY. I stepped inside and was greeted by the huge red and orange portal that takes us to the living world. I saluted Kate.

"Good luck, kid." She replied in her usual bored voice, but her smile was happy and warm. I smiled back and jumped into the portal.
