I stared at her and she stared back in complete silence.

"Evannnnnn!" A voice behind me said. I turned around to see Angie. I had forgotten about her. I turned back at the girl (Grace?!) and she looked hurt. I stood up and walked to Angie.

"It's not gonna work out." I said simply, and Angie's expression went from smug to shocked.

"Wh-What?" She stuttered.

"Bye." I said and she glared at me, then walked away. I turned to Grace. She was frowning.

"Why were you with her?" She said. "After what she did to me?"

"It was all a misunderstanding..." I said. "She thought I asked her out when I went up to confront her and... yeah..."

"Oh." She said and paused. The she grinned and threw her arms around me.

"H-how are you here?" I stuttered. "I saw the truck hit you... I saw them b-b-bury you!"

"I work for a secret society run by dead people." she said simply as if it were an everyday coversation. "We save lives of the living. That's why I pushed you out of the way from the car. I was assigned to save you."

"W-" I began, but she put her finger to her ear and looked alarmed.
"I have to go..." She said. "I hope you have a nice life, Evan." She gave one last smile, and then hurried down the road and disappeared into the streets.
