Stay - HS

Alexia Roberts was just a normal British girl. 22 years old, working at a Starbucks in London. She had a perfectly boring future planned out before Harry Styles showed up and made it flawed, but also fun. When the end finally comes, it all depends on Alexia. Will she choose to stay or go?

16. Chapter 16

Alexia's POV

I was watching a youtube video and there was this story-like thing that was kind of funny. I made a sound that was like a cough and laugh combined.

Harry raised an eyebrow and crawled over to my side of the bed. "Whatcha looking at?"

"Nothing. I want to tell you a joke. Actually, I'm not really sure what it is. I don't think it's a joke, but it's not a riddle... maybe a story."

"Okay, go ahead."

"There was a pilot, a doctor, a lawyer, an old professor, and a boy on a plane. They were going to crash and there were only 4 parachutes. The pilot took one and jumped off the plane. The doctor said that he saved lives so he should go. He took a parachute and jumped off. The lawyer said that he was the smartest person in the world so he should go. He took a parachute and jumped off. There was only 1 parachute left, but there was the boy and the professor left too. The professor told the boy that the boy should go since the professor has lived a long enough life and the boy still has many years ahead him. The boy tells him that it's okay because the 'smartest man in the world' took his backpack instead of a parachute."

"So they all lived except the lawyer."

"Yes, Einstein."

"That was why you made that weird sound?"

"Maybe. What if I find it genuinely funny?"

"What if I find it genuinely not funny?"

"Well I'm sorry, not everyone agrees with you." I patted his head and almost moaned when my fingertips first touched his silky hair. "What do you use to keep your hair this soft? I need it."

"Uh, I use these two things called shampoo and conditioner. They're really good. You've got to try them."

Rolling my eyes, my hand retracted back to my lap. "Is Liam actually still asleep?"

Harry shrugged and looked at him on the other bed. "WAKE UP LIAM!" He shouted. I winced from how loud that was.

"I'm awake!" Liam threw off the covers and revealed his already dressed body.

"Were you...?" I glared suspiciously.

"Maybe. Who knows?"

Harry clapped his hands. "Let's get the day started!"

Liam looked at Harry as if Harry was crazy. "Um, the day's already started."

"Shut up. You know what I mean."

After breakfast, we took the subway. To where? We didn't know yet. Harry suggested we get off the third stop so we'll be a pretty good distance from our hotel and get to explore new stuff, and that's what we're doing. On the second stop, a mother came in with her son and sat across from us. The son was only about 6 years old. I could hear everything they said because they spoke English. They had an American accent.

"Where are we going Mommy? My feet hurt from walking," the boy said.

"Would you stop complaining? I have to deal with you everyday and each day all you do is complain about this and that!" The mother slapped the boy repeatedly and all the boy did was stay silent. He didn't cry, he didn't whimper, it was like he's been through this a thousand times before. The mother would say something mean to her son, slap him a couple times, say another mean thing, and so on. This happened all the way until the third stop where Harry, Liam, and I got off. Before we left, Harry went over to the boy and hugged him. Harry whispered something in his ears, then joined us again. The mother pretended like she hadn't seen Harry.

When I looked at Harry, who's head was down, I realized he was crying. I gently rubbed his arm.

"It's just unfair how some kids get treated like that. I can't imagine why anyone would hurt their child. It makes me think how lucky I am to get born into a nice and caring family." Harry wiped the tears away, but another bunch just came out again. My heart broke a little. His cheeks were red and blotchy and wet, his eyes puffy, and he kept sniffling in the most adorable way possible. Damn Harry, how do you make crying look cute?

"I know, I know." I held Harry and he hid his face in my hair.

Liam patted Harry's back. "Hey man, he'll get the love he deserves one day. It may not be today, or tomorrow, or even next year, but he'll get it. And until then, all we can do is hope."

"I never knew you were that wise. You must be getting old." Harry mumbled, lifting his head up. At the little hint of him returning to his normal self, I smiled.

"Oh my gosh, is that a white hair?" I added, pointing to his hair and acting astonished.

"What? No, shut up!" Liam hit my hand away.

I shrugged. "Whatever. Just don't blame me if you see one."

"Where are we?" Liam looked around. Turns out we walked outside without me even realizing it.

Harry opened his arms and tilted his head back so the sun was shining on his face. His dry tears on his cheeks glistened in the sunlight, making him look as beautiful as ever. "The third stop of the subway from Paris!"

I took his arms as an open invitation to jump on him, so that's what I did. Harry staggered backwards and fell on Liam, who fell on a random old lady.

"AH! MURDERERS! MURDERERS! GET OFF!" The lady swung her handbag at Liam's chest but ended up hitting Harry's side. Surprisingly, only a few people looked and none of them gave us a second glance.

Harry stood up with me in his arms, Liam quickly following. The lady was still wildly swinging her bag with her eyes closed.

"Um, we're very sorry," I said.

The woman opened her eyes, stood up, brushed herself off, then finally looked at us. Her eyes widened. "Liam Payne? My daughter is a HUGE fan of yours. Ever since One Direction! Could I get an autograph for her please?"

Liam beamed. "My pleasure!"

"Really feeling the love here," Harry jokingly whispered into my ear.

"Aw, you have my love." I patted his cheeks.

"And that's more than enough."

A girl came up to us. Unlike the old lady who was STILL talking to Liam, this girl was younger. I'd say about 17. From the way she was holding her head up confidently and the way she walked, her hips swinging a little with every step she took, I could tell she was the 'popular girl' in high school. There was so much makeup on her face it looked like she had dusted her face with pink goop.

Harry put me down.

"Harry, darling, how is everything?" She said like they were long lost best friends.

"Um, hi. Have I uh, met you before?"

"No, no, but I've seen you on Twitter, Youtube, Tumblr, you're everywhere! I'm a huge fan."

"Oh. Thank you! What's your name?"

"Tiffany, but you can call me Tiff. What do you say we go on a beautiful cruise? My treat... this time." Tiffany winked.

"I have a girlfriend-"

"Honey, I can kiss so much better than your girlfriend! Want proof?"

Tiffany smashed her lips on Harry's and I just stood there, jaw down, dumbfounded by why or how anyone would act like that. I was too astonished to even be mad at the moment. Harry looked surprised too, because he also stood there with his eyes wide open while Tiffany was slobbering all over in his mouth and on his lips.

Harry finally came to his senses and pushed Tiffany away. Anger bottled in me.

"Sorry Tiffany, but I already have a wonderful girlfriend."

"But I can be a much better one!"

Liam slung his arms over mine and Harry's shoulder and led us away before Harry or I could say anything else. I'll have to remember to thank him later on. But I couldn't right now, I was too mad. I was furious at Tiffany but she wasn't here right now, so I turned to Harry. And I know that that's unfair because it wasn't his fault, but I needed something or someone to let my anger out on.

Harry smiled at Liam before he rushed to me. "I'm so sorry, Lex. I was stunned and couldn't think properly. All I could think about is how there was a pair of lips on mine and those lips weren't yours. Is there any way to make it up to you?"

"That's my job to kiss you like that. Not hers." I crossed my arms childishly.

"And you can have that job for the rest of your life. Only if you let me have the job of kissing you like that. No one else."

"Damn it Harry, why do you make it so hard to be mad at you?!"

Harry jumped a little at my sudden outburst. "So... you forgive me?"

All the anger seeped out of my body. I sighed. "Yes."

"And you'll give me that job?"

I pretended to think about it. "Yes."

"It's no wonder why they call Harry the charmer." Liam smiled.

"I know right?" I grinned and then kissed Harry, exactly the way Tiffany had. Our tongues had a full out battle. I won, for the first time.

He had a dazed look in his eyes when I pulled away. "It's so much better when you do it," he breathed.

He went back in for a kiss, this one was slower. Every time, it somehow gets better. If I had butterflies and fireworks in my stomach the first time we kissed, then I had more than a zoo now.

Harry stopped the kiss and pecked me a few times on my lips. "I need to take a wee - oh! There's a washroom right there. Be right back." He hurried off.

"Thanks, Liam," I said.

"For what?"

"For putting up with us kissing half the time and you know, leading us away from her." My top lip curled up in disgust on the word 'her'.

"Don't worry, I'd be the same with Cheryl. I get how you feel. Isn't young love just great?" Liam sighed happily.

"Are you calling me young?"

"I'm calling you and Harry young."

"How old are you?"

"You're only 1 year older than Harry and 2 years older than me."

"That's more than 365 days."

"Math geek."

"A proud one too."

I changed the subject. Just 'cause I wanted to. "How's your baby? Bear, right? I started to ask you about him but interrupted you because I didn't particularly want to hear a full essay."

Liam rolled his eyes but didn't object. "He's amazing. It's just so cute when I hold him! He's so little and adorable and I just want to squeeze him-"

"I'm back!" Harry announced. "You're welcome Lex, I just saved you from Liam."

"Thank you, baby." I wrapped my hands around his neck and pressed my lips onto his. I was a bit surprised at myself when I said 'baby'. I don't usually say that, so I don't know why that came out of me now.

"Mm, a lot of kisses today. Can we be like this every day?" Harry's eyes stayed closed and only opened when we were touching foreheads.

"We'll see."

Out of the corner of my eye, I glimpsed a girl. It would have just been a normal female like every other female here, if not for the stare she was giving me. It was angry, neither was it happy, but it wasn't sad either. It was emotionless. I blinked. She was gone. I mentally shrugged, it must have just been a figment of my imagination. Well, that's what I thought until the woman appeared in front of me.

"Hey Lex! Hi Harry. This is Liam, right?"

"Sydney?!" I gaped at her.

"Yes, it's me darling. Don't worry, I've changed. And uh, I'm sorry I you know, kidnapped you. Thinking about it in jail really helped me clear my mind. First I thought of how dumb I was for letting Harry out with you, then I thought how mental I was for trying to do that. Peter's has a better life now, doing his dream job of working at Subway. Honestly, I don't know what's the point in wanting to make sandwiches everyday, but who am I to judge?"

"They let you out of jail already?!"

"Yeah, I was surprised too. They usually hold you for longer."

"You followed us here?!"

"Yes! Now close your mouth Lex, stop acting so surprised. I came to apologize. So... do you forgive me?"

I closed my mouth, not knowing it was still open. "It's going to take a while for that, Syd."

"Look, I'm also sorry for having sex with your boyfriend. I mean ex-boyfriend. It was my fault, not Evan's. I pressured him to do it."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. All I'm asking for is forgiveness, from both of you. I'm really sorry, and I understand if you don't want to forgive me."

I glared suspiciously at her.

Harry pulled me away. "Come on, Lex. Give her a second chance."

"Who is she? And what's she talking about when she said she's sorry for kidnapping you?" Liam looked at me, bewildered.

"She hired someone to kidnap me, then she told Harry if he dated her instead of me, she would let me go. Which she did, but then she was stupid enough to let Harry go to the door with me and we both escaped. It took like, half a day. Most boring kidnapping ever," I explained.

Harry spoke. "I still think you should give her a second chance. You never know, what if she's actually changed?"

"But what if she hasn't?"

"Well, you can decide if you want to forgive her. I'm giving her another chance." Harry went to Sydney. They talked, then hugged. Sydney came with Harry back to us.

"I'm exploring Paris with you!"

"For a couple of days," Harry added.

I stared angrily at Harry. First Tiffany, now her? Harry just shrugged.

Sydney was actually really nice, but I still didn't trust her. She clung to Harry like a sloth to a tree branch, leaving me and Liam walking behind them. Harry would sometimes look back and check up on us, and when he did that, Sydney would look back too like she just remembered that we were there.

"I don't trust her," I told Liam when Harry and Sydney were out of ear shot.

"Neither do I."

"But I really want too. I mean, if Harry trusts her, then I have to trust her too, right?"

"You don't have to always agree with Harry."

"I guess so."

An hour went by. Harry and Sydney never looked back again. I heard all the laughs that came out of Harry, I saw the way he always tilted his head back slightly while laughing and I felt a pang of jealousy. I wish I could've made Harry laugh that loud, that much.

"I'm going to go back," I told Liam. I was sick of watching Sydney making Harry laugh like that. I love his laugh so much, don't get me wrong, but it just really hurts when another girl can make him laugh more than I can.

Liam looked at sympathetically. He was the only one who understood this. "I'll come with you. We'll text Harry on the way back."

We started heading back.

"Why are males so stubborn? They're such idiots." I grunted.

"You're talking to a male right now," Liam laughed. "Yeah, we're stubborn and pretty big dick-heads."

"Definitely," I agreed.

At the hotel

Harry texted Liam back saying he'll be there in a few hours. Liam had to leave now.

"Are you going back to the UK?" I asked.

Liam nodded.

"Can I... can I come with you? I'll pay for myself."

"What? What about Harry?"

"I'm feeling a bit homesick. I really want to see Meghan, my best friend." And I already texted Meghan I'd be back.

She's started texting me again. She told me the whole story. She was jealous of me and Harry and tried making Harry jealous by pretending to date Jason. Now she's realized that we were meant for each other and put aside her love for Harry. She's also realized that she did in fact have feelings for Jason. Turns out Jason had liked her all that time too. Now she and Jason are happily together. I smiled reading the text, despite the fact that she tried making me and Harry break up.

She texted me back saying that she had moved back into our apartment so I wouldn't get lonely.

Liam gave in. "Okay."

"Thank you!" I hugged him and started to pack. I left all the clothes that Harry bought me and only took what I had brought. I didn't even wear most of the clothes he bought for me. I still had a LOT of clothes back in me and Meghan's apartment, so I doubted I would need any more. Plus, it was his money. He could give the clothes and stuff to Sydney or whatever. I'm sure his fans would love to get a gift from him.

I didn't bother leaving a note behind.

So Liam and I flew back to London. We parted at the airport. After exchanging numbers, of course.

"I'll miss you!"

"Me too. Bye Lex! Good luck with Harry."

We hugged goodbye, then I took a taxi back to my home.
