13. chapter 13

Ashton's POV:

*Sunday, July 13th, 2014 - Maracanã Stadium*

Today's the World Cup final as Germany and Argentina go head to head to win one of football's most prestigious trophies.

The squad and I are sitting in the stands. Half of us are cheering for Germany, while the other half are cheering for Argentina.

I'm cheering for Germany because I have a feeling that they'll win.

When the squad and I were watching both teams warming up, we saw Lionel Messi signing autographs.

He came to our area and signed Eduardo's Argentina jersey and phone case. I was laughing because he was crying.

"Eduardo, you're still crying? Lionel left twenty minutes ago, calm down." I told him.

"What the hell Ashton? The Lionel Messi just signed my jersey and phone case, and you're telling me to calm down?! You must not be a football fan!" He exclaimed.

"Okay, point given," I replied, laughing.

I looked over and saw Melanie talking to Luke.

"So are you guys excited to see Argentina lose?" I asked them.

"In your dreams Ashton," Melanie responded.

"Yeah right," Luke replied and rolled his eyes.

The three of us started laughing. Finally, both teams arrived on to the pitch.

Everyone began to cheer.

The German national anthem played then shortly after the Argentinian national anthem.

After the players went to their sides, captains Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lionel Messi shook hands.

Bastian ended up winning the coin toss, meaning that Germany will kick off with the ball.

Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose are standing at the starting line, with the ball. The ref blows his whistle and the game is underway.

"Go Germany, go, go Germany go!" I yelled.

"Go Argentina, go, go Argentina go!" Melanie yelled, ten times louder.

"Oh my god Mel," I said and laughed.

"What'd you expec— RUN MESSI! GO, GO, GO!" She yelled.

Messi ran through Germany's midfield and defense like they were cones.

He takes the shot but Neuer blocks it for a corner. I sighed in relief.

"Ha, you thought." I teased.

"Whatever, we have a corner though." She mumbled.

"Good job Messi! Yeah!" Eduardo shouted.

"Come on Germany." I said.

Liliana's POV:

*Fast-Forward to Extra Time*

After the ninety minutes were over, the score was still 0-0 so the game went into extra time.

I'm so mad that the ref didn't call a penalty for Argentina. He was right there when Neuer knocked the mess out of Higuaín.

But on Higuaín's part, he did miss a wide open shot.

Right now, the second half of extra time is still going on. Man, I feel sorry for these players.

Some play for a full 90 minutes and they don't get subbed off. Also, it's hot here in Brazil.

Suddenly, Germany decided to make a substitution.

Mario Gotze will get subbed in, while Miroslav Klose gets subbed off.

The German fans and a some Argentina fans stood up gave Klose a standing ovation as he began to leave the pitch.

I forgot that this is his last World Cup before his retirement from international football.

Mario Gotze got on the pitch.

All of a sudden, Andre Schurrle steals the ball from Sergio Aguero.

"No Argentina do something!" I shouted as Schurrle passes the ball to Gotze.

The ball hits his chest and he takes the shot with his left foot. Sergio Romero tries to save it but it was too late.

Mario Gotze scores for Germany.

"GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!" Donivan, Anai, Nah'cier, Ashton, Araceli, Calum, and Lorena shouted.

I sighed and sat down as Mario rapidly celebrates in front of the German fans. His teammates tackled him to the ground, feeling happy as ever.

Three minutes of stoppage time began to play, and Argentina already earns a free kick.

Messi was so close to tying the game but his shot went wide. Argentina is trying to come up with something but the ref blew the final whistle.

Germany has officially won the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

I sighed as the Germany substitutes invaded the pitch, hugging their teammates.

"Damn, this gets worse and worse for Messi," Jose said.

"Agreed," I said and sighed again.

The squad and I walked onto the pitch and congratulated the German players.

After I congratulated Thomas Muller, I turned around and saw Tyra talking to Andre Schurrle.

They both hugged and went their separate ways. Tyra walked up to me.

"It's sad to see Argentina like this. They're a mess right now." She told me.

"I know. I want to cry myself." I said.

We both looked to see Messi on the ground, crying his eyes out. No one isn't there to comfort him.

"Hey, I'll be right back," Tyra told me.

I nodded. She walks up to Lionel Messi and helped him to his feet.

They started talking and she hugged him.

I smiled.

Photographers knelt down and took pictures.

"That's so nice of her. This is why I love sports." Melanie stated.

"Yeah." I agreed and smiled.

Luke's POV:

The squad and I left the Maracanã stadium, waiting for our bus.

I'm so upset that Argentina lost, but what made my night better was when Tyra hugged Lionel when he was crying.

"Tyra, what did you said to Messi when you were talking to him?" Araceli asked.

"I told him that no matter what, you're still a champion. People will think how great you are as a person and a player, despite your losses. Take a look at how hard you worked to take Argentina to the final. That's a great achievement coming from a world class player like you. Coming from a Brazilian, I'm proud of you." Tyra replied.

"What a nice thing to say," Nah'cier said.

"Yep. I cheered him up even more when I told him some jokes about Cristiano's career." She mentioned.

We started laughing.

"Wow Tyra, did you get his number? You two will make such a nice couple. How about you marry him and have kids and move on with your lives?" Calum snapped.

"Calum please don't even start th—"

"Shut up Michael! Congrats Tyra, you made me jealous. You're the reason why I'm like this. Why can't you just be with me? It'll be easier that way than using Lionel Messi or James Rodriguez to make me even more jealous!" Calum yelled.

Everyone else in the parking lot heard Calum and stared at us. This boy needs to stop.

"Dude, stop acting so dramatic! Tyra's not making you jealous. She was just being nice to Messi. Also, how dare you accuse her of using James to make you jealous. Tyra was madly in love with him before he came clean and told the truth. Look, I know it was fucked up how Tyra rejected your kiss and made you look like a fool in front of thousands of people, but, it was your fault that you didn't listen to us. We told you so many times that Tyra just wants to be friends with you! Did you listen? Obviously not because you were too busy kissing her. Get it together. If Tyra doesn't love you, she doesn't love you. Move on from that, or better yet, just stop falling in love with Tyra and STOP BEING SO FUCKING ANNOYING!" Jose yelled.

Everyone looked at Jose. Some of us even have our mouths agape, even though he was telling the truth.

"Tyra, you don't want to b-be with me?" Calum asked as tears came down his face.

Most of us groaned. Tyra sighed.

"Calum, I'm sorry but I don't want to be with you. You should've listened to Melanie and the squ—"

"Don't." He said.

He turns around and walks away.

Michael's POV:

The squad and I came back to the hotel after the game. Throughout the bus ride back,
Calum was giving glares at Tyra and Jose, but mostly at Tyra.

When we arrived at our hotel floor, Calum immediately went to his room and slammed the door.

"Guys, you know didn't mean to yell at him like that. I was sick and tired of him behaving like a jerk." Jose spoke.

"We understand," Ashton assured.

"After all, you were telling nothing but the truth," Donivan stated.

"Hey, why don't we just chill in my hotel room, just to make us feel better," I suggested.

Everyone smiled and agreed with my idea. I took out my room key and unlocked the door. Everyone followed me inside and sat down.

"Let's watch the Argentina and Germany post-match interviews," Melanie suggested.

Everyone agreed.

I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. I changed the channel to ESPN.

A reporter is standing with Mario Gotzë.

"Hi, I'm Michael Johnson of ESPN, with Mario Götze. Mario, congratulations for helping your side win the World Cup for the fourth time! How do you feel?" Michael asked.

"I'm happy. I can't believe that I scored the winning goal. I dedicated it to my family, friends, and the fans. I give credit to Andre Schurrle for that wonderful assist." Mario explained and smiled.

"Will you guys hit the bars tonight?"

"Maybe, if our manager lets us," Mario responded.

Both of them started laughing.

"Okay Mario, that's all I wanted to ask. I'll let you go celebrate with your team. Back to you, Gina." Michael said.

Mario smiled and left the screen.

A few minutes later, the TV showed Gina standing next to Lionel Messi.

"Hello, Gina Parker here with Argentine forward Lionel Messi. Lio, it must be very sad that your team lost. Would this be an unforgettable moment for you and your teammates?" Gina asked.

"Of course it would be, but I'm glad that I took my team this far. It's a very good achievement. We worked so hard, day after day, to get here. We know that this isn't the result that we wanted, but hey, it's football, you win some and you lose some." Lionel replied.

"Damn right," Eduardo mumbled.

"Do you think that it was weird that Tyra Ramirez, younger sister of Brazilian striker Nicky Ramirez, comforting you during your emotional breakdown?"

"No, it wasn't," Lionel said.

"She made me feel less miserable than I was before. What she said to me after the hug was very inspirational. It's like she made me look for hope in the darkest situations. I'm glad that Nicky has a nice sister like her."

I looked over at Tyra, who was grinning from ear to ear.

"Tyra, stop smiling so hard." I joked.

Everyone started laughing.

"Well, I'm sorry! The Lionel Messi was just talking about me." She said.

When Gina asked Messi about the fans and their support, he mentioned Eduardo!

Everyone laughed and congratulated him.

After Messi's interview was over, I turned off the TV.

"Well, the World Cup is officially over," I said and sighed.

"Yep, and that means we're leaving Brazil in a couple of days," Araceli said.

"Hey, at least we're returning to London. I miss my house and everything else." Eduardo said.

Everyone agreed.

"Plus, now that the World Cup is over, that means club football is getting closer!" Tyra exclaimed.

"Really?" Jose asked.

"Well, preseason comes first but at least our favorite players will return to their clubs," Tyra replied.

"LET'S GOOOO!" Jose screamed.

Everyone started laughing.
