10. chapter 10

Araceli's POV:

*A Month Later - Thursday, June 12th, 2014*

The squad and I are in São Paulo, Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Nicky was nice enough to pay for the entire trip.

He wanted us to go on a vacation and relax, so we can take our minds off of not only school but what happened with Tyra and Melanie.

A lot has happened since their terrible kidnapping. For example, Melanie and Luke are a couple now and Tyra's back into dating and she's seeing someone.

Nicky, the squad, and I walked into the hotel.

"Okay guys, I'm going with the Brazil team to the Arena de São Paulo. As you guys know, tonight we're versing Croatia. Get there early so you can sit in your reserved seats. Here are your hotel room keys." Nicky explained, giving one to each of us.

"Alright, and Nicky, thank you for making all of this possible," Tyra said.

"Ah, it's no big deal. Look, you guys need this vacation." He replied.

We smiled at him. He smiled back.

Nicky's such a generous guy. He always helps us with so much, and we try to do the same.

"Well, I'll see you guys later." He said.

We said goodbye to Nicky as he caught up with his teammates. He smiled and waved back to us.

After he left, a hotel employee approached us.

"You must be Nicky's friends, right?" She asked.

We nodded.

"Bellboys." She said and left.

A bunch of bellboys came by and took our suitcases. We followed them up to our floor.

I arrived at my hotel room and unlocked the door. I walked inside, with my mouth opened.

Oh, this room is so beautiful!

There's a cabinet full of candy, a king sized bed, a flat-screen TV, and a huge fridge.

I walked into the bathroom to see a fancy sink, a big shower, golden shampoo bottles, and soap that smells like roses.

On top of that, this hotel room has free wifi.

"Wow, this is the best hotel room ever!" I exclaimed, walking out of the bathroom.

I smiled and put my suitcase on the bed. I took out my clothes and shoes and neatly put them in the closet.

By the time I was finished, someone knocked on my door.

"It's open!" I yelled.

The door opened and I turned to see Tyra walking in.

"Here Araceli, this is your Brazil shirt." She said and gave it to me.

"Thanks. So, what time is the game?" I asked.

"7:00. Also, everyone wants to go to the mall. You should come. Don't worry, we'll leave a bit early so we can get to the stadium." She added.

"Sure, I'll go but I just need to change my shoes," I replied.

Tyra nodded and left, closing the door. I took off my Gucci flats and sighed.

Liliana was right.

I should've worn my black vans instead. I have deep red marks on my feet now.

Oh well, I rather look good than care about how much pain I'm in.

Tyra's POV:

*Arena de São Paulo - 7:00 PM*

The squad and I are at the Arena de São Paulo to watch the Brazil vs. Croatia match.

Everyone erupted into cheers as both teams came out of the tunnel.

Both sides are standing in a line, with referees in the middle.

The stadium played the Brazil national anthem. The Brazil fans sang their song with pride, including me.

Then, the Croatian national anthem played.

After that, the players shook hands with the opposing team and went to their sides.

I waved at Nicky. He saw me and smiled, waving back at me.

"Tyra." Someone whispered and tapped my shoulder.

I turned around to see James Rodriguez!

"James!" I exclaimed.

He smiled and we embraced each other in a hug.

"I obviously knew that you'll be here for the World Cup with Colombia, but I didn't know that you'll be attending this game," I explained.

"It was a surprise for you." He said.

"Awe, thank you."

We smiled at each other. James and I first met on Tinder.

I saw his picture so I swiped right and we instantly started talking.

We've been seeing each other for a while now.

The problem is, I found out from Melanie that Calum's in love with me.

Sure, he's cute and all but I'm not into him. I only see him as a friend. I've been giving obvious signals to him for a while now.

He should get the message.

Also, Araceli told me that everyone's telling him that he has no chance with me since I'm dating and all.

"Who do you want to win?" I asked James.

"Croatia, duh." He replied.

I playfully hit him on the shoulder.

"Ow, okay Brazil." He said.

I started laughing.

That's when the whistle blew, meaning that the game has begun.

Brazil is already dominating the opponent. They've managed to get a few corners and many shots on goal.

Suddenly, Croatia starts attacking.

Brazil dropped quickly. Mario Manzukic took a shot but Julio Caesar blocks it.

The ball hits Marcelo's leg and it went into the goal.

"Oh god." I groaned.

"He scored an O.G., wow," James said and sighed.

The Croatian players rushed to each other and celebrated. Marcelo looks on in embarrassment.

Well, that's an interesting way to start off the competition.

The game restarts with Brazil kicking off the ball. During the 29th minute, Brazil gets into Croatia's half.

Willian Borges zooms past Ivan Rakitic and made a backheel pass to Nicky.

Nicky takes the shot and it curves into the goal!

Nicky celebrates his goal by doing a backflip.

His teammates ran to him and piled on top of him.

I couldn't stop cheering. Nicky blows a kiss to the sky and points up to it as well.

I smiled.

"I love that celebration! Such an iconic moment. An innovator. He really did that." Eduardo stated.

Everyone started laughing.

*After Halftime*

The players returned to the field for the second half. James left to get something to eat.

"So Tyra, I see you and James storming up a conversation," Liliana said.

"Yeah, and you two couldn't stop talking during the first half," Araceli stated.

"Okay? And?" I asked.

"You and James are going to have some fun in the sheets tonight," Lorena replied.

All four of us started laughing.

"Hello, everyone! Before we get this second half underway, it's time for the Kissing Cam." A commentator announced.

Everyone cheered as the Jumbotron showed the kissing cam.

Some people did kiss, while others didn't.

The camera faced Melanie and Luke. Luke grabbed Melanie and they kissed.

"YASS MELANIE GET INNNNN!" The squad and I yelled.

People around us started laughing and said the same thing. Cristiano will be pissed when he sees this.

Suddenly, the camera showed Calum and me.

I tried to move away from him but he grabbed me and kissed me. I pushed him off of me right when his lips touched mine.

"Calum, what the fuck is wrong with you?!" I yelled.

"We like each other. Isn't what you wanted?" He asked

"No Calum I don't! I never liked you like that. I gave out some pretty obvious signals that I don't like you as a boyfriend! Don't you ever kiss or touch me ever again!" I yelled.

Everyone gasped.

The second half already started but people in my section were looking at Calum and me.

I sighed and sat down.

Things slowly resumed back to normal. A lot of people laughed at Calum as he returned to his seat.

I sighed and turned around to see James.

"James, it's not what—"

He rolled his eyes and left.

Melanie's POV:

The game is finally over. Brazil ended up winners as they beat Croatia 3-1 with two goals from Nicky and one from Oscar.

What happened between Tyra and Calum was surprising, but to be honest, Calum deserved that.

Tyra told me that she'd never imagined her and Calum as a couple. The squad and I warned him but he ignored us.

Right now, I'm with Tyra and James. They've been arguing for the past twenty minutes.

"James, I am telling you, I never wanted that kiss to happen! I pushed him once his lips touched mine. You can even ask my friends and they'll tell you the same thing. You know that I would never do something like this to you. Also, I kept giving him signals that I just wanted to be friends with him. Please, you have to understand." Tyra explained, holding his hand.

"I do believe you, Tyra, seriously. Look, I have something to tell you." He said.

Tyra and I looked at each other.

"Melanie, can you please give Tyra and I some privacy?" He asked me.

"Take your time," I replied and left.

I pretended that I left but I didn't. I hid behind a wall, so I could hear what James wanted to say.

I admit, what I'm doing is wrong but what if he hurts her?

I have to be there, on the spot.

"Tyra, I have something to tell you." He said, holding Tyra's hand.

"And that is?" Tyra asked.

"When we first started talking on Tinder, I never wanted this to happen because I have a wife and a daughter. I'm sorry but we can't see each other any more. I can't do this to them." James explained.

My eyes widened.

"What the fuck?" I whispered to myself.

Tyra took her hands out of James' grasp.

"Why? How could you do this to them!" She exclaimed.

"I don't know! I-I-I really loved the connection we were having and..." James trailed, as tears were coming down his face.

"What you did was fucked up and unfixable. I feel disgusted. Goodbye." Tyra retorted.

She turns around and walks away.

"Tyra, Tyra!" James yelled.

When she made a turn, she saw me. I sighed and opened my arms.

She fell into my arms, crying. I hugged her tightly.

"Just tell her that I'm sorry," James begged.

"Just leave," I responded and gave him a glare.

He sighed and left.

"He could've told me that in the first place!" She exclaimed and cried some more.

"I know Tyra, I know. He's a dick. Let's catch up with everyone else." I assured.

Tyra was still crying when we left the stadium and approached the squad.

"What happened to Tyra? Why is she crying?" Donivan asked.

I told the squad everything. Their faces softened.

"Oh god Tyra, I'm so sorry," Liliana spoke, hugging her.

"That bastard! Wait until I see him I'm going to beat his ass!" Eduardo exclaimed.

He ran to the stadium entrance but Jose held him back.

"Eduardo, calma calma," Jose assured.

"He can't get away with this!" Eduardo argued, trying to get out of Jose's grip.

"Eddy, just stop! Things are already just as bad." Lorena said.

"Lorena's right. Don't make this situation any worse." Michael added.

Eduardo sighed and turned his back at the entrance.

"I can't believe this. Hey Tyra, how about we eat at a Brazilian restaurant? You, of course, love Brazilian food." Araceli said.

Tyra wiped her tears.

"I actually know a place where we can go to. Nicky and I loved it when we were kids, and you guys will too." She quietly said.

"Awesome! We can go on a bus and the driver will take us there in no time." Nah'cier replied.

"And we'll be in Rio for the next month, so we can get wasted and turn up!" Luke exclaimed.

Tyra smiled. Most of us smiled as well.

"Luke, the drinking age in Brazil is eighteen, and most of us are seventeen," Tyra said.

"What? Are you kidding me." Luke said and groaned.

"Are you mad? Or Nah?" Jose asked.

Everyone started laughing.

A bus arrived and everyone got inside. Tyra told the driver to the address to the restaurant.

"Ah, I know that one! It's the best." He said.

He began to drive.

*Thirty Minutes Later*

So far, the dinner is great. Tyra felt a little better.

Calum said some shady comments about her but we mostly gave him glares or told him to stop.

Right now, we're waiting on Donivan to finish up his food.

''All offense but this food is the BOMB!" Donivan yelled.

Everyone in the restaurant stopped what they were doing and looked at Donivan and us. They started laughing and agreed with him.

"Even the Brazilian people know what's up." He added.

We couldn't stop laughing.

"I told you this place was good," Tyra stated.

After Donivan finished eating, we paid the bill and left the restaurant.

When we arrived back at the hotel, everyone went to their rooms. Luke unlocked our hotel room and we walked inside.

We sat on the bed.

I turned on the TV and changed the channel to ESPN.

I expected match highlights of Brazil vs. Croatia and around the grounds coverage but instead, James and a reporter are on the screen.

"So James, we saw you in the crowd today during Brazil's game against Croatia. Did you enjoyed the match?" The reporter asked.

"Yes, I did. Brazil is a very fierce team. Despite their own goal, they instantly started to attack and stayed like that ever since. It would be great to verse them in the other rounds." He replied.

"Throughout the game, we noticed that you were talking to Tyra Ramirez, Nicky Ramirez's sister. Are you two da—"

"U-Um I don't want to talk about it. The topic of discussion is Brazil and Croatia, not my love life." James responds, cutting off the reporter.

Luke and I exchanged looks and turned our attention back to the TV.

"Okay, well, do you think she will attend your games?" The reporter asked.

"I don't know. Like I said before, the topic of discussion isn't about my love life." James answered.

"Jeez, so much attitude," I remarked.

"I know right?" Luke asked.

"Well, James thank you for letting us interview you. Back to you Jeff." The reporter said.

James nodded and left. A few minutes later, Jeff is standing next to Nicky. I turned up the volume.

"Nicky, congratulations on your two goals! Your team has won their first 2014 World Cup match. Are you happy with this result?" Jeff asked.

"Of course I am! Those two goals I scored are dedicated to God and my family and friends. This is a great start to my journey in this competition." Nicky responded.

"Do you think your opponents in the group stage are easy to beat?"

"Each team are great in different aspects. I wouldn't say they're easy to beat. You'll never know what they have in store for us." Nicky answered.

"And just one more question before you head to the locker rooms," Jeff said.

Nicky nodded.

"This is your third World Cup, and you're already elected as third vice-captain for Brazil. If you get the captain's armband, can you prove yourself in this competition?"

"If I do, we will see. I always prove myself to any competition. From the Premier League to the Champions League, I give my 100%. The World Cup is different. They're always surprises at every corner. To be in this competition is a blessing, and I will do what I can to take this team to the very top." Nicky explained.

"Very good words to say. Nicky thank you for letting us interview you. I'm Jeff Evans and this has been the first match for Group A in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Jeff announced.

I turned off the TV.

"I'm going to check on Tyra," I told Luke.

"You should, now that James pretty much aired out his business on TV." He said.

I nodded and left the room. I walked across the hallway and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Tyra yelled.

I opened the door and walked inside. I saw Tyra on her MacBook Air.

Just a Little Bit of Your Heart by Ariana Grande is softly blasting in the background.

"Hey." She muttered.

"Hi," I replied and closed the door.

"You alright?" I asked, taking a seat next to her on the bed.

"I'm fine, but now I'm the number one trending topic on Twitter, there are videos everywhere of me pushing Calum then yelling at him, and I'm getting some hate from 5SOS/Calum fans, but I don't care. You know how 12-year olds behave." She replied.

We both started laughing.

"Did you see James' post-match interview?" I asked.

"Yeah. God, the tabloids are going to be disastrous come tomorrow." Tyra answered.

"Tyra, don't worry about the media for now. What I care is how you feel. Will you be alright?" I asked.

"No." She replied as tears came down her face.

I hugged her tightly as she was crying.

Just a Little Bit of Your Heart is still playing in the background.

These lyrics really do relate to Tyra.

Why must this happen to her, out of all people?
