All week, Laine has been on my case about Suki. She's worried about Suki and reckons she's behaving "weirdly" and "out of character", and it's all because Suki apparently hasn't been sleeping, and she came back drunk on Monday night. I had a feeling that Laine was exaggerating Suki's state of wellbeing. It was Thursday night when I realised that Laine was right to be concerned.

I was scrolling Facebook when I saw that Dom had updated his profile picture. Since he told me about his new gender situation, I've been avoiding him. I just can't cope with the change and the fact that my reputation will be ruined. I'm not a lesbian, therefor I can't stay with him if he becomes a girl.

Instead of liking his picture, I scrolled straight past it. I felt dreadful, but he'd only attempt to contact me and I couldn't cope with that. I need more time to think about exactly what I'm going to do. I asked Katrina what she thought, and she told me he isn't worth the time if I can't stick by him. I agreed with her. She's easier to talk to than Laine or Suki, so I think I might take her advice. She knows more about how I feel. I'm meeting Katrina in a few days and I'm so excited.

Laine came in from theatre. Whenever she came back from practice, she always looked so happy. I'd started to wonder if she has a crush on one of the performance boys. "Hey Laine," I said.

She dumped her bag on the floor and smiled at me. "Hi."

"So how come you always look super happy after practice?" I laughed as I placed my phone on my bed.

Laine sat down on her bed and her cheeks started burning bright red. "Do I?" She laughed nervously, "I guess it's because I love performing."

I rolled my eyes and laughed at her. In denial. "Do you have a crush there or something?"

Laine started laughing and, before she had chance to respond, Suki came stumbling in. "Hey Suki," Laine greeted her. Suki didn't seem to notice. She could barely walk or stand up straight. She stumbled against a shelf and threw her hoodie at he bed.

"Are you ok?" I asked her.

She looked directly at us. Her mascara was smudged down her face, her hair was a tangled mess and her clothes stank of alcohol and cigarettes. "I'm fine," she replied, pulling off her trainers. I looked at her eyes and realised they were bloodshot, and her pupils were giant. She stumbled into the bathroom.

Laine looked directly at me and gave a smug smile, as if to say 'I told you so'. I looked at her and said, "that's really out of character."

"I know, that's what I've been trying to tell you the whole time!" She said, applying another coat of blue nail varnish.

"We need to talk to her," I said.

"There's no point trying," Laine replied, rolling her eyes, "I tried a few nights ago, but she just keeps saying she's fine and then avoids me."

"Would she open up to me?"

"Probably not. We'll just keep an eye on her, see how it goes."

I sat in English with Suki the next day. Laine had a free again so she was back in the theatre. I decided to ask about how Suki was, now that she was sober and able to talk. However, I noticed Katie, Paige and Becca staring at me whenever I asked if Suki was okay, or if there was anything she wanted to talk to me about. Suki kept looking at them, then telling me she was fine and nothing is wrong.

"Were you ok last night?" I asked her. I lowered my voice so that I didn't attract the attention of the girls.

"Yeah. I'd just had a few vodkas with Lena, Cody and Dan," she replied.

"Who is Dan? Does he go to this school?" I asked. I know Lena and Cody, but I've never heard of Dan before.

Suki looked worried, like she'd said something she shouldn't have said. "No. Different school."

I shrugged it off. As we were packing up, I noticed Paige pulled out a bottle of perfume and sprayed it. I started coughing, and my throats felt like it was drying up. I couldn't speak. "Are you ok?" I heard Suki ask as she got a water bottle and handed it to me. I pointed to my bag for my blue inhaler. Suki went in my bag and handed me the inhaler.

Everyone looked at me. The teacher came over and sat me down on my seat. I kept trying my inhaler, but my coughing was getting worse. My breathing felt like it was spreading up so fast, I couldn't catch up. I couldn't breathe. My inhaler wasn't working. I felt tears roll down my cheeks as I tried to catch my breath. The teacher kept asking me if I'm okay, but I was too breathless to answer.

My heart was pounding so fast and I couldn't breathe. I grabbed hold of my chair as I felt myself going unconscious. I felt someone catch me, heard a few muffled voices, but then it all went black.
