The world went to hell shortly after that first attack on the city I was in. Its was every man from themsleves until one day all the people who held a little bit of power silently agreed to live away from eachother. Now the world stayed divided up in to sections.

The first group of people were called the outsiders, the were the ones that you had to avoid they trusted no one and you were smart to do the same with them. Outsiders are the people who would kill you no matter what the age or circumstance. The were the closest group, and the most deadly, they had most of the weapons left. Then there was my group we are called the survivors, and that is exactly what we are. We do what we have to do to survive and nothing more, literally nothing more then that. The other groups are the murder, the lost, and the last. I don't know much about them, I just know their names.

16. Chapter sixteen.

Hey, here I am again updating, yay.

The morning light creeps in through the cracked windows and lights up the hut. I run my hand along the blanket that covers me and notice it’s not the scratchy one that I was originally given, instead of being rough and uncomfortable it is smooth and fluffy and keeps me surprisingly warm. I know, without even opening my eyes, that Harry has already left for the day.  I stretch my legs out over the metal handle that is at the end of the futon, my legs are relieved from being curled up against me all night. I open my eyes and see the nice soft lighting that brightens the hut.

I look over at Harry’s drawings and realize that they look even more amazing in this particular lighting. I sit up and allow my legs to stretch further, then I go and sit at Harry’s desk.  The old wooden chair is smooth and sculpted in such away it makes it comfortable to sit on. I open the drawer that Harry had put all of the other drawings in and take them out. The paper is rough and slightly tinted yellow from the years of abandonment, I am honestly surprised that they lasted this long in the conditions of this world.

I gently put the drawings that I have seen down and focus on the ones that I haven’t. A few of the drawings are of animals wondering the remains of the city, others are of people from this camp. One of the drawings catch my attention, it is the only one colored and looks oddly familiar. I place the other drawings that were in my hand down onto the desk, I look closer at the drawing and realize that it is a drawing of my sister and me. Harry must have drawn this a while ago because I couldn’t be older then ten and my sister was drawn in a way that she looked only a little older then that. I am amazed at the accuracy of the drawing. My hair was a little darker then what it is now and is just like when I was ten, even my skin color matched the way that I looked at that age. I had no visible scars that I have now and I can tell that Harry must have put a lot of effort into this because the drawings look like a photograph.

Why would he know what I looked like then, I didn’t know him so how could he know me? perhaps my sister, when she was here, wanted a drawing of me and had a good idea of what I would have looked like, but I don’t think that’s the case. I hear a knock on the door and I quickly gather the papers and put them back into the drawer in the desk. I stand up and walk over to the door. It’s Suzanne, I slam the door shut in her face and go to the bathroom. I close the door behind me and pray that she just walks away.

“Eve!” Suzanne shouts at the door. “You can’t stay inside forever.”

Of course, I can’t hide in here forever, but I have a feeling that I can stay in here longer then you’ll wait outside for me to come out. I sigh and lean against the wall in the bathroom, I can hear Suzanne trying to open the door and I am grateful for the lock that automatically locks as soon as you close it. I look out the window and see Suzanne staring directly in the window.

“What do you want?” I ask as I stare back at her.

“You to make up the promise that your sister made me.” Suzanne states.

Oh, the promises. I had completely forgotten about them and I had hoped that everyone else also did, but of course Suzanne did not. I can tell that she doesn’t like my sister and that she is making assumptions about me.

“What is the promise?” I ask, I am not going any where with Suzanne until I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.

“How about this, if you come to my office I will tell you, it’s more of an offer then anything.” Suzanne tries to reason.

Instead of answering I head to the front door and then I remember that I am still the clothes that I was wearing yesterday. I rush to the dresser and grab out some clothes. I unfold them and realize that they are Harry’s, I run back to the dresser and pull out other clothes that I know were grabbed for me. I slip my clothes off and pull the others on and go to the front door.

“Fine, I will go to your office to talk to you but don’t think I’ll put up with you.” I say bitterly.

Suzanne nods her head and heads in the direction of her office, we get passed Harry’s hut and more people join us. I am assuming that they are Suzanne s bodyguards because they surround her closely and don’t allow me to get close enough to do any damage. We reach the main building and the guards open the door for Suzanne to walk in, the door almost hits me in the face and I have to push the door open for myself.

I walk into the building and can tell the difference between the temperature from the last time I “visited”, it was warmer and they had clearly noticed the freezing temperatures reaching the indoors. I look around and see that there is more people in here then there ever was, there was even a few children running and nearly bumping into breakables nearby. I look in front of me and see that Suzanne is almost in her office and I have to jog to catch up.

“Woah!” I fall backwards and land on my butt.

“Ha.” Harry’s voice calls.

I look over my shoulder and see that Harry is dying of laughter and leaning against a wall to keep himself standing. I scowl at him and he comes over to help me up, but of course he is still laughing while doing so.

“So, why are you in the main building?” Harry asks.

“Suzanne told me that she needed me to take up an offer that was meant for Thalia.” I say.

“Umm, okay, but Thalia never talked to Suzanne.” Harry says in confusion.

“Oh.” I say, I am still curious about what Suzanne has to offer me but now that I know that she never talked to my sister makes me wonder why she really wants to talk to me.  “Why don’t you come along to?”

Harry nods his head yes and starts to go to Suzanne’s office, he opens the door and walks in but holds in open for me as well. I nod a small thanks at harry and try to mentally prepare myself for the conversation that was about to occur. The guards that were following Suzanne pull chairs out for us to sit on and then slightly push us forward. Suzanne is already sitting down and looks surprised to see Harry sitting down in front of her.

“Hello Harry.” Suzanne says kindly, Harry smiles at her and then his face goes back to almost emotionless.

“So, why did you want me to come talk?” I ask.

Suzanne awkwardly sits in her chair and even sneaks a quick glance at the guards. They both tense a little and then relax, almost in a way that said they weren’t allowed to relax in her presence. Suzanne’s stare remains on the paper in front of her as she begins to talk.

“Well, I brought you here to discuss what deal I offered your sister a while back.” Suzanne says. “I offered a deal and she said that she would consider it, but as you can probably tell she left before she had a chance to accept it, and also, if you intend to discuss this further you will kindly have to excuse Harry.”

Harry shifts in his chair and then stands, he can clearly tell that I am wondering what this is truly about. I look at Harry with a questioning gaze and he nods his head, I look back at Suzanne as Harry leaves the room. He closes the door loudly behind him and I can hear him basically stomp off.  Suzanne looks at the guards and waves them off, they stop leaning against the wall and lock the door after they leave the room.

I sit back further in my chair and try and prepare myself for the torturous discussion. The past conversations that I have had with her have been anything but pleasant and I honestly expect nothing more from her. Suzanne looks down as she pulls open a drawer and grabs a piece of paper, she reaches across the desk that stands between us and hands it to me.

“Read over this and then tell me what you think, if you are wondering why I pass you a piece of paper with the information on it, instead of tell you it, it is because I find you rather annoying.” Suzanne says.

At least we have that in common Suzanne. Suzanne was a tad annoying but she wasn’t as annoying as she was disrespectful to me. I found that she would talk to everyone like equals yet some how she managed to treat me like less.

I look down at the paper and see that the information is written is messy handwriting that couldn’t belong to such an organized person. The letter read:

As you are aware I brought you here to talk about a deal that I was going to make with your sister, Thalia. Unfortunately, Thalia tried to leave before we had any time to discuss it further then just mentioning it. The deal was and still is, that she, which will now be you, will bring me any information she can get on Harry. In return for this information she would be brought to you once I had the information that was brought to me. I am willing to change the deal so it is suited to you.

The deal will be that you bring me information on Harry and I set you free, also, you will have to work in this camp and you won’t have to fulfill anyone’s tasks and promises that Thalia was supposed to.

I place the letter down, and think if it is worth it, sure I would be free, but I’ve come to respect Harry for who he is and she doesn’t deserve to know anything that he doesn’t want her to know about himself. I look at Suzanne and see that she is clearly satisfied with the answer that she believes she will receive.

“So?” Suzanne asks in this most gentle tone that she has used with me so far.

“I will think about it.” Is all I answer.
