10. Yes Of Course I'll Come On Your Talk Show!

Emma:

Melanie and Holter weren't back for school the next morning, so I had Maulduen fly me there. I wore a red jumper and some black flats, no jewelry besides my silver and gold crown, which Patten talked me into wearing. /Have a good day little-one/ Maulduen said mentally, lowering one large wing to the ground so I could slide down it.

/I will, and if you ever feel like helping me with any subject-/ I drifted off suggestively and he just laughed. I slid to the ground, the wind blowing my black hair behind me as I descended the steep slope. Landing lightly, I looked up and blew a kiss to Maulduen before hiking my backpack higher on my shoulder and walking inside.

A chorus of "Queen Emma" 's and "Look over here" 's followed me as I made my way to my locker. Teachers outside of their rooms even bowed as I passed. Tomi was leaned against my locker in a green skirt and black skin tight long sleeved shirt, her dirty blond hair pulled into a loose ponytail. "Greetings, Your Majesty," she said with a mock bow.

"Morning peasant," I said jokingly as she moved out of the way so I could open my locker. Throwing my stuff in it I sighed, "I rule a kingdom, why am I at school? I should have gone with Melanie and Holter."

"That is true, but you still need to graduate; and we are almost done," Tomi persuaded. "At least talk with the school counselor and see what you can do to graduate early."

"That's actually the smartest thing I have ever heard you say," I joked with a smirk.

"I'm smart when I want to be," she said, then the bell rang and I sighed closing my locker. "Well, I'll see you later, and if you go in to talk with the counselor, I wanna come too - it would be nice to graduate early." she said before bounding down the hallway, I sighed again and turned the other way before starting to walk down the hallway toward my first class which was health and fitness.

Changing out of my jumper and into the gym clothes, I felt everyone's eyes on me. One girl, Elizabeth finally spoke up, "How did you get the black vanes and tattoo?" she asked pointing to my arm.

"The black vanes are from a witch that tried to kill me with a poisonous arrow, its also why I have black hair and pale skin. And the tattoo is not a tattoo, its a dragon mark." I explained pulling my hair into a ponytail.

"What happened to the witch?" Elizabeth asked and I looked at her to find her eyes full of fear.

"She did not live another five minutes after she tried killing me and my dragon." I said.

"And all the other scars?" Gracie, another girl asked, "What are they from?"

Not caring to sugar coat what I was saying, I told them simply, "I was tortured a couple times," before walking out of the locker room and into the gym.

"Your Majesty," the teacher said with a slight bow before turning to the rest of the class, "Today we are running two miles," she said. Stretching I smirked to myself 'a warm-up' I thought to myself. As the class started to run, the teacher turned toward me and said, "You of course don't have to do it, Your Majesty."

"Don't treat me like I am a weak princess who cannot handle a light run Mrs. Harper, challenge me with four miles or something," I said and Mrs. Harper just stammered to herself.

After a short while she spoke again, "Very well, Your Majesty... run four? miles?" I nodded to her before running after the rest of my class, who were probably a lap ahead of me.

I caught up to them in less than a minute, and surpassed them within seconds. Some of the boys tried to keep up with me or go faster, but in less than a few yards they had fallen away too, gasping for breath. I finished the four miles in around 5 minutes with my inhuman speed I had attained from being bonded with a dragon. Mrs. Harper stood in awe as I walked toward her, having not even broken a sweat. "Thanks for the challenge, Mrs. Harper, I enjoyed the light run" I said and she stammered again.

The class ended around 35 minutes later and I changed back into my jumper before Gracie spoke up again, "How were you tortured?"

Turning toward her I took a deep breath, trying to calm my heart that had just picked up pace - and was now probably going faster than it had when I had been running. "If you were to know," I started keeping eye-contact with her the entire time, "you wouldn't be able to sleep for a month." I then walked out of the locker room and to my next class.

The rest of the day passed rather slowly, and by the time school was done, I was ready to work off some stress by sparring. Maulduen was waiting for me outside of the school, making large circles high in the sky. /You large mother hen,/ I joked through our link, /Come done and get me./

/I am not a mother hen Little One,/ he said, spiraling lower and lower to the ground, and again hundreds of camera's flashed as Maulduen's large wing lowered to the ground. Within two steps I had picked up speed, and was now running up the steep incline of the wing until I got to the large plane that was Maulduen's scaly back. /How was your day?/ he asked turning toward home.

/Long" I said both mentally and aloud. /I suppressed another panic attack today, so that was good./

/I felt./ he said with a tinge of worry as we rose above the clouds heading back to the house.

/I'm fine, Maulduen/ I said walking along his neck to stand on the top of his head. /Nothing a little sparring wont fix./

/I contacted Patten and told him to be ready when we arrive/ Maulduen said slowly drifting toward the ground.

Once we arrived, I slid down Maulduen's wing and walked inside. "Hi mom, Joseph," I said in greeting before walking to my room to change into my sparring clothes. Patten was waiting for me on my bed, humming a Narnian tune, hands behind his head, the picture of complete ease.

I walked toward him, and he smirked as I ran a hand through his silver white hair. "Afternoon, my beautiful fiancee," he said leaning into my touch. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," I said kissing his forehead before going to my closet and changing into sparring clothes. "I'm thinking about graduating high school early; what do you think about it honey?" I asked moving out of the closet and back into my room.

"Its a great idea, then we can go to Narnia and live there, and rule our kingdom the way we are supposed to," he said sitting up, running a hand through his hair. I walked over to him and straddled his waist, wrapping my arms around his shoulders.

"The way we are supposed to," I repeated with a smile. I kissed him, and he kissed me back, his arms wrapping around my waist. Laughing I pulled away from the kiss, patting Patten's shoulder, "Lets go spar," I said and he stood up, keeping me in his arms before spinning around, kissing my cheek. He set me down, slapped my butt, and walked out of my room. Rolling my eyes, I followed after grabbing my white sword and the two identical silver swords

Bounding into the backyard, I prepared to fight. Stretching and rolling my shoulders, looking around for Patten, who was nowhere to be seen. His deep laughter echoed from a tree, and I looked up just in time to see him smiling before he jumped, sword in hand. I laughed, bringing my double swords up to block his attack; our swords met with a clashing ring as we started to fight.

The sparring session was more like a dance, Patten and I coming together and falling apart, our swords shinning in the afternoon sunlight. Patten cornered me against a tree, "I love you," he said swinging his sword at my side.

Blocking his sword with my own I said back, "I love you too," before kicking his chest and sending him flying. He laughed laying his head on the ground, I walked over to him and sat myself down on his stomach. "Did you give up?" I asked.

"I think I won," he said his hands holding onto my hips as he smirked up at me, his hazed eyes staring straight up into the sky.

"And how is that?" I asked, and he just smirked again.

There was a loud shriek came from the house, and both Patten and my heads turned toward it. Stephanie, it was Stephanie squealing so high pitched that the birds were now flying out of the trees. "What the heck?" Patten asked, covering his ears.

"I have no clue," I said standing before helping Patten to his feet.

Walking inside, dripping with sweat, we arrived right in time to hear Stephanie squeal into the phone, my phone, "Yes of course I'll come on your talk show!"

Clearing my throat I crossed my arms over my chest, Patten smirked wrapping an arm around my waist. Stephanie looked toward us before giving a fake smile, laughing awkwardly as she slowly lowered the phone from her ear. "Oh, hey Emma, Patten," She greeted.

"My phone," I said outstretching my hand and making a 'give me' motion, "now." Sighing she rolled her eyes and handed my phone over to me. "Thanks." I said before holding the phone to my ear, "Hello?"

"Hello? Who am I speaking to?" it was a man, his voice sounded rough as though he had been talking for hours to people who were too loud and that he was trying to explain over their voices.

"High Queen Emma the Beautiful, one of the four rulers of Narnia," I said glaring at Stephanie who just raised her hands before sauntering off down the hallway. I walked into the living room and sat down, listening to the man.

"Queen Emma," he started, "I am Louis Nathil, I work for Jimmy Fallon, we would like you and your fellow rulers to come onto the Tonight Show."

"How did you get my phone number?" I asked, ignoring the slight excitement gathering at the prospect of being on the Tonight Show.

"We called your school, they gave us your number after a long persuasive conversation that ended in a $5000 reward toward the music program."

"So you bribed them," I said in a rather bored tone.

"If you want to think of it in that way, then yes," Louis said and I looked over at Patten, who I knew was listening to the conversation.

"What do you think honey?" I asked him, putting my phone to my chest.

Patten shrugged biting his lip, "We might as well do it, sooner or later we have to present ourselves to the actual public, at least we can make it fun," he said and I nodded.

"That's a good idea, but we should ask Melanie and Holter first."

"Ask us what?" Melanie asked walking into the room followed by Holter. I looked at them confused, not having heard the thrum of Jura and Julionna's wings as they landed. "Small dragons make for a quite descent," She said with a laugh.

"Oh." I said before Patten explained what the phone call was about.

"Of course I would want to go onto that show - I watch it all the time!" Holter exclaimed, and I looked at him dumbfounded. "I know what the show is, I watch it on my free time - well the free time I had before Narnia came to the real world," he said.

Laughing, we all agreed to do go on the show, picking up my phone again, I spoke to Louis, "The four of us have agreed to come on the show."

"Great! I will schedule it for this Saturday. We will need you to come in the morning for the run through, and if you need to shop for new clothing, we can arrange for a private fitting at whatever shop you four would like." Louis said, starting to plan everything, so fast I couldn't even function, "And I am supposing you will ride your... dragons... so they will need somewhere to stay - I'll look into that and get back to you -" he proceeded to give me his number and told me that he would text with new information once it came up before hanging up the phone.

I looked at Melanie, then to Patten and Holter, "We are going on a talk show!" I exclaimed and Stephanie walked into the room, sulking.

"I'm guessing you're not going to let me come." she said and I nodded. "Well enough, I'm sure I'll be asked to come on a talk show sometime."  she sauntered to the living room.

The four of us started to laugh before joking about what Jimmy Fallon was like, and what a day in New York would hold.
