Letters to those who can relate.

{ we're all pawns living in this horrendous world of ours }

11. { F O R G E T T I N G }

To those that wishes to forget, It will be hard, trying to erase a person who brought happiness to your world at one point. Forgetting will definitely be hard, But it's the easiest step during the journey. But it's the moving on part that seemed to hold everyone back. It'll be difficult to not think about them during your normal routine. Waking up, You'll reach over, Wanting to feel their warmth. But instead you'll be welcomed with a cold, Empty half of the bed. The hit of realization will bring you to tears. If you try hard enough, You'll still be able to see them there, Asleep and peaceful. You'll be driving to work, Or school perhaps, With the radio blaring songs from your everyday playlist. Everything would be fine, Up until that one song. It would have nothing to do with them, But the only thing you'll remember is how you two would sing it at the top of your lungs. You'll have no choice but to skip the song and continue on with your day without them.  Now the most difficult part about eliminating someone from your mind, Is the sudden realization that they are no longer part of your life. Your mind, And body, Were so accustomed to having them they're as your life support. Almost every minute of the day you two would spend together, Or talking over the phone. We aren't designed to spend so much damn time with someone else then abruptly stop one day. It'll take a large toll on us. It'll be months, Maybe years until that last string is finally cut. It'll be months until you decide to delete that last picture of the two of you off your phone. It'll be months until you can finally go a day without having something remind you. There will come a day where you're free of the flooding poisonous memories. You'll be able to listen to that song again without thinking of them. You'll be able to finally wake up in the morning not reaching over to feel them. You'll feel at peace with yourself. You see, as humans were designed to rely on someone else to bring happiness into our lives. But honestly? It's a waste. If you want happiness, create it. m. {published 8/19/17}
