A Poem

1. Suffocation

I'm in a dark room. No doors, windows, or even cracks in the walls. It's dark. I hear rain hammering on the wall.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Thoughts come through my head. I'm scared. Demons haunt me. Everyday. Every night. Everywhere. I wish I were dead. For if I was, I wouldn't have to deal with them.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The words are screaming in my brain. They're not real. But I have no choice in believing what is true or false. It's all real to me.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

There are more than usual. It surrounds everything. It thins the air. It's hard to breathe. The words suffocate me. Every second I'm alive, I'm no closer to peacefulness and serenity of death.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

I'm drowning in darkness. Unable to breathe. I fall to the ground. The floor is cold and hard. My thoughts aren't thoughts. They're words. Said by “friends.”

I'm finally at peace.
