Bad Things

Of all the men mom had married, there wasn't a single one that could replace my dad. Except one.

18. His

“I doubt that he meant what he said about your mom and about the apartment.” Louis sat down on the barstool beside me. The two of us had just arrived at the apartment and were having coffee together. The aftermath of the wedding was still playing in my mind. “He wasn’t directing those words at my mom Harry. He was directing that entire speech at me. I have to go talk to him.”

I grabbed my keys. Louis wished me good luck before I headed out the door. I drove over to Harry’s place. His car was parked outside. I walked up and knocked on the door, waiting until he answered. The door opened. To my surprise, it was Jade. “Kathryn, hi.” She smiled. I immediately saw that she was wearing the necklace that Harry had given to me.

“Hey Jade. Is Harry home?” I asked.

“Yeah, come on in. He’s inside.” Jade stepped aside, allowing for me to enter the condo. It was strange to me to come back to his place and see another girl. I was expecting that something like this would happen eventually. “He’s actually taking a shower right now, so--Hey, where are you going?” She called out to me.

I had already started to walk down the hallway to Harry’s bedroom. Jade followed me until I closed and locked the door in her face. She banged on the door. I dropped my bag down near the foot of the bed and started to take off my shoes. I stepped into the bathroom, taking off my clothes.

Luckily, Harry’s back was turned and the water was still running. He hadn’t heard me come in. I joined him into the shower. He turned around, surprised to see me. “Kathryn? What--” I interrupted by kissing his lips. Of course, he returned the kiss before quickly pulling away. “How did you get in here?”

“The door was unlocked. Well, Jade let me in. Besides, I wanted to talk to you alone but figured that this was a much better idea.” I smirked. His eyes scanned my body. I knew he couldn’t stay mad at me. I had a feeling that he must’ve been jealous seeing me with Louis at my mom’s wedding.

I reached down and started stroking him. He gasped, looking up at the ceiling. I knelt down and started sucking. “Fuck..” I heard him whisper. His hand moved my wet hair aside as I continued. He moved away from the running water, but I didn’t stop. I glanced up at him. “I can’t..” I pulled away and stood up, gazing into his eyes.

“Harry, you can’t lie to yourself anymore. You know as well as I do that you love me. I just went with Louis because it was my mom’s idea to make you jealous. Also, I did it because I didn’t want to attend my mom’s wedding and thinking that you might’ve brought Jade with you. I was surprised you didn’t.”

“You know those things I said at your mom’s wedding, I didn’t mean to say those things. I was hell bent on the fact that I saw you with Louis. I thought that if I said those things to you about him, then--”

“Then I’d come running back to you? Harry, you hurt me by dating Jade. You of all people should know that. I don’t understand why you can’t see the person you’re meant to be with is standing right in front of you.” I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my body. I started to pick up my clothes.

Harry turned off the water before pressing me against the counter. He picked me up and sat me down. A hand found its way between my legs. He rubbed in slow circles, getting me a bit aroused before sliding a finger inside. This only made me spread my legs and lean back against the wall. “Mmm... Harry...” I moaned softly. He leaned forward and started to kiss my lips.

He pulled his hand away before positioning himself between my legs. He was quick to go fast and hard rather than taking things slow, but I was enjoying it so much. It wasn’t surprising to me that he was missing this as much as I was. He picked me up and carried me into the bedroom, lying me down on the bed. “What about Jade?” I asked, gazing up at him.

“I don’t want her. I want you.” Harry leaned in and kissed my lips.

After our session, I got dressed and opened the door. Jade walked up to me and slapped me across the face. “I can’t believe you slept with Harry you dirty slut!” said she. Clearly, I wasn’t going to put up with anymore of her crap. Harry had come up behind me about to say something, but Jade interrupted. “I’m not done. How dare you walk in here in your skanky looking outfit. We are not friends.”

“Jade, we were never friends. You applied to the company. Harry hired you to work for him. You got yourself into this mess, thinking that Harry was still over me. He clearly isn’t. He didn’t take you the wedding, and I’m sure you got upset over it. I’m sure Perrie must’ve told you that Harry was kind of off-limits, but you still dated him anyway. You probably had an idea that I still had feelings for him. You’re the man-stealer. I’m just taking back what is rightfully mine.”

I reached up and ripped the necklace from her neck before punching her in the face. “So take your man-stealing ass, pack your stuff and get out. When I come back tomorrow, you better be gone.” I stormed past her and left Harry’s condo. I drove to Louis’s apartment. I entered the door. Louis emerged from the hallway.

“So, how’d the talk with Harry go?” asked he.

“Let’s just say there wasn’t much talking.” I smirked. Louis opened his mouth to say something but decided to keep his mouth shut instead. “Besides, I think I need to sleep the rest of this night off. After an eventful wedding and dealing with the aftermath, I’m tired.”

“Sure, we can talk in the morning. Good night Kathryn.” I then bid him good night as well before heading down the hallway and entered my room. I closed the door behind me and took out the diamond necklace from my purse. I smiled softly at the intimate moment before Harry and I before I was slapped in the face. Guess it was something I deserved.

I changed into my clothes and checked my phone for any messages. There was a few texts from Perrie, one from Louis, and a missed call from Harry. Also, he left me a voicemail, which I had to listen to. “I know you’re probably driving, but I just had to tell you that I broke up with Jade. You probably deserved the slap she had given you for sleeping with me, or at least that’s what you may think. But honestly, I never really called her my girlfriend. I didn’t know her for that long; and I think she used me, just like you said. Anyway before the dial tone beeps, I want to say I--” How convenient. I thought sourly. Though, I had an idea of what he wanted to tell me.

The next morning, I was again packing my stuff. “Hey, I know you’re moving out but you’re always welcome here.” smiled Louis. I was going to miss him. He and I have gotten around to becoming acquaintances. Someday I hope that the two of us will be friends. I’m definitely looking forward to the day when it comes.

“Thanks Louis. Don’t be afraid to stop by Harry’s. I know you two are friends. It’d be nice to see you over there too.” I gave him a hug, wrapping my arms around his waist. He returned the hug before pulling away and suggested to help me back the boxes into the moving truck. I thanked him. When I arrived at Harry’s place, Harry had opened the door to the condo and walked out to greet me as soon as I got out of the car. “I missed you girlfriend.” He smiled.

“I missed you boyfriend.” I leaned in and kissed his lips. “Oh, and I love you too.”
