Peculiar Poetry

Poetry with and without reason and rhyme.
Strange is what I strive for.
Expect lyrics and limericks, free verse and format.
Be prepared for bubbly and boiled, terrifying and horrifying.
Keep an eye out for those that provoke your thoughts, and some that bear no thought at all.
Many written for class, and others without much of it.
Feel free. There are no boundaries. Just think.
Consider, Ponder, Wonder, Imagine.
Argue, Oppose, Debate, Defend.
Perhaps you will be offended.
That's good.
Think about that.
Learn more of what you think.
How you think.
Take what you can from what you hate.
I don't seek to preach.
I only speak my mind.
A mind most peculiar.

21. "Rain"

Pattering atop your windshield

Thudding against your roof

Prodding your head and shoulders

Longing for your attention

You hear and you feel

And you understand

By why are you saddened?

Are these droplets the many and countless tears

That the clouds have waited so long to weep?

For their one and only love, the sun

Has been taken away, overcome

By themselves

And they understand

So they cry for what they have done

Is that why you are saddened?

But I do not understand

Why do you compare

The frigid showers to tears?

Saying the dimness that comes with

Is an omen of despair?

Why can you be so sad

Yet I cannot help

But smile?

Maybe each and every drop that falls

Is a life that has been reborn

Every bit that had ascended to Heaven

Returning to the world it once new

Landing with fervor, splashing upon

Jade leaves and the emerald grass

Soaking into the earth

To satisfy every creature

To replenish the craters and trenches

That once were lakes and rivers and ponds

Nature's blessing that we seem to despise

Yet so much of our planet cannot acquire

A blessing, is it?

A gift, perhaps?

A symbol of rejuvenation

A second chance

The essence of life

Have we come to the point

Where earth's greatest

And most astounding feat

Is deemed to foretell misfortune?

Now signifies sorrow?

Inflicts melancholy?

Blessings are curses

And darkness means fear?

Only if we say they are

So are they?
