In love with my best friend

Calum and Ashlee have been best friends since they were in their mummy's womb. Will three words ruin their friendship? or will they date?

Calum's p.o.v

Damian took Ashlee back. I can't believe he would do that. I watched every moment of Damian and Ashlee and didn't take my eyes off of them. Part of me was jealous and the other part of me was happy for her that she wasn't sad anymore.

“Feeling jealous aye?” Michael asked.

“No, I am not jealous,”

“We’re supposed to believe that?” Ashton asked.

“Fine, don't believe it I don't care,”

Ashlee's p.o.v

School was finally over after a long day and also a day full of drama. Right now I was with Damian, then I remembered I have to invite him over for dinner.

“Damian,” I called.

“Yeah? What is it babe?”

“My mum wants to meet you and she asked if you can come over for dinner, so would you like to come?”

“Of course this is a chance to meet your family, although I already know Abraham.”

“Yeah Abraham doesn't seem to like you why is that?” I asked.

“Well before I met you I was this horrible person and I liked to fuck girls and use them up, Abraham had a girlfriend and I took her away from him by flirting and let's just say she loved it.” Damian explained.

“Are you still like that using girls up?” I asked sadly.

“No, like I said Ash you changed me, so I'm not that person anymore.” He said.

“I'm glad, you won't use me up like that.”

“Never, only if you want to.” He said. We kissed until I heard a car honk. I looked and saw Abraham. I took Damian's hand and lead him to the car.

“Hey Ham,”

“Ham?” Damian asked laughing.

“You got a problem?” Abraham asked angrily.

“No I just think it's funny,” Damian responded.

“I made that nickname up with Calum when we were kids.” I told Damian.

“You had a creative imagination.” Damian said whilst tickling me. Then kissing me.

“Wow you two birds really love each other.” Abraham said sarcastically.

“That's because I have someone and you don't.” Damian replied.

“That was you before until you stole my first love and first girlfriend! I fucking hate you for that!”

“Guys stop! Can you please try to get along at least for today then you can hate each other all you want after that,” I told them.

“I guess,” They both replied.

The whole car ride was incredibly silent. We didn’t say a word to each other after Damian and Abraham had that little arguement.

We finally arrived home, Damian got out the car and went over to my side to open the door for me. I thanked him and then got his hand and we locked fingers. Abraham unlocked the door and he went inside and straight upstairs. Damian and I went to the kitchen where I found my mum there already making dinner.

“Hey mum,” I greeted.

“Hi sweetie, oh is this him?” She asked whilst wiping her hands off with a rag, then placing it down to shake Damian’s hand.

“Yeah mum this is Damian, my um….boyfriend,” I said.

“Nice to meet you Mrs.Williams ,” Damian said.

“Likewise, this is the boyfriend she has ever took home to meet us.” My mum said. I gave her a death stare.

“So, mum what are you cooking?”

“Pasta, some salad, and I am also making dessert.” Mum responded.

“Yum, that sounds delicious,” Damian complimented.

“Thank you Damian,” Mum said.

After that weird conversation with my mum, Damian and I went upstairs to my room.

“Your mum seems cool.” Damian said.

“Also why did it take you a while to say I was your boyfriend?”

“Well it feels weird to say boyfriend since I rarely have boyfriends.” I replied.

“How many boyfriends have you had?”

“I’ve had….well your my….third boyfriend so far….well actually your my second cause Calum doesn’t count because we used to pretend we were dating….so I have had one official boyfriend.” I explained.

“I think that’s amazing.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Haven't you heard this term, first the worst, second the best? That makes me your best boyfriend.”

“Oh yeah,” I said.

“How many girlfriends have you had?” I asked.

“Um a lot.” Damian said.

Damian was leaning in for a kiss and I did the same. That one kiss turned into a make out session, though it didn’t last long before we were rudely interrupted, by Abraham.

“Ashlee and the other person, dinner is ready.”

“Yeah well we’ll be down in a minute.” Damian responded annoyed.

“Will you two ever get along?” I asked.

“Probably in like twenty years,”

“No, I mean seriously.” I said.

“I think there is high chance we aren’t.”

We both went downstairs to the dining room. My mum was getting everything ready and putting the food on the table.

“Is dad coming?” I heard Abraham say.

“Unfortunately, your father got stuck with work and won’t be able to join us for dinner tonight.” Mum said.

“Of course he would choose work over us,” Abraham mumbled.

“Abraham if your father had a choice he would choose us but his boss won't let him.” My mum replied sternly.

“Sure,” Abraham responded sarcastically.

“Abraham Mark Williams!” My mum yelled as she slammed her hands on the table and made us all jump.

“Your father loves you very much, and I would really appreciate if we had a relaxing meal so would you please shut up,” My mum said.

We were eating our dinner and none of us had said a word.

“So Damian how did you meet Ashlee?” Mum asked breaking the silence.

“Well I have a few classes with her….”

“What classes might those be?”

“5th and 6th period.”

“Oh cool,”

“Yeah and may I said you have such an amazing daughter, I am so glad I met her.” Damian said looking at me and grabbing my hand.

“How long have you guys been dating?” Mum asked.

“About two…”

“Years?!” Mum asked cutting off Damian.

“No, about two days now.”

“Well that's good to hear, that you two really care for each other.”

As just as I was about to say something I heard the front door open. A figure came into the kitchen and it was my dad.

“Hey dad,” I said. Dad didn't even look at me, he looked straight at Damian. My dad has always been strict with me and boys. Which dad isn't strict with their daughters and boys?

“Who the fuck is this?!” Dad asked kind of yelling.

“Language darling,” Mum said in a sweet tone.

“He's my boyfriend dad,” I calmly responded.

“Boyfriend?! I never told you can have a boyfriend! You always have to ask my permission first and my answer is no!” My dad screamed.

“I have rights in my own life and plus I ain't a child no more so you can't tell me what to do!”

“Mr Williams, I know how protective you are of your daughter, but I promise you I will never hurt her in any way, and if I do you can kill me.”

“You really love my daughter?” My dad asked Damian.

“More than anything,”

“And you really love this boy?”

“Yes daddy I love him very much,”

“Well then….you two may be together.”

“Thank you sir,” Damian said.

A couple minutes later I heard the doorbell ring. I went over to the door to open it and saw Calum and Samantha.

“Oh you guys actually came!” I asked surprised.

I invited them in and Samantha took off her coat and threw it to me. Calum lead Sam to the living room where everyone was at.

“Calum!” My family all yelled. They loved Calum.

“Hey guys,”

“We haven't seen you in forever, my son.” Dad said.

“Yeah you know how high school is, always with homework in your hands.” Calum said. Sam cleared her throat.

“Oh um this is Samantha my um significant other,” Calum said. Sam gave him a death stare.

“Hi nice to meet you,” Mum said, putting her hand out for Sam to shake but denied it.

“So you guys must be hungry,” Dad stated.

My family all went different directions, my mum went into the kitchen and dad went to his room.

“Good to see you again Calum,” Abraham said.

“Yeah you too Abraham,” Calum replied. Abraham smiled and went upstairs to his room.

Calum's p.o.v

After Abraham left to his room, Samantha pulled me aside and away from Ashlee.

“Significant other?! Are you serious Calum?! For fucks sake I am your girlfriend!” She yelled.

“Yeah I know you're my girlfriend but significant other means girlfriend.” I explained.

“Let's just go eat.” She said.

As I was making my way to the dining room I almost tripped but caught myself just in time. I looked back and saw Damian giving me a devilish smile. I guess Ashlee didn't notice cause she didn't say anything.

“How do you and Samantha know each other Calum?” Ashlee's mum asked.

“Well I um….” I couldn't finish my sentence because Sam cut me off.

“We don't need to tell you anything about our relationship, Ashlee's mum. It's none your business.”  Sam said.

“Oh I guess I'll leave you two alone.”

“I'm sorry Mrs Williams.” I apologized.

“No, Calum it's my fault for be nosy.”

Ashlee's p.o.v

After everyone left, my mum was complaining about Samantha.

“Why does she have to be so rude?! I mean doesn't her mother teach her at least some manners?!”

“Mum we all can't be well educated.” I said.

“But still, how can she get a guy as nice as Calum? How can HE stand being with a person like her?”

“Mum calm down,”

Abraham came running down the stairs.

“Mum are you okay? I can hear you yelling all the way from upstairs,” He said.

“No I'm fine Abraham, I just don't approve that girl Calum is dating,”

“We all can't have perfect relationships, plus it's his choice who he wants to be with.”

“You two are no help at all!” My mum yelled and went upstairs.

“So how are you and Damian?” Abraham asked me.

“We’re fine.”

“How are you and Emily?”

“Good, it's perfect actually, can I ask you a question?”

“Of course,”

“Well Emily has been talking a lot about marriage and having children. She's been saying what she wants when we get married and what her children's names are gonna be. Does that mean she wants me to propose?”

“No, it doesn't only mean that. She is just getting prepared when you do propose to her. Are you even planning to marry her?”

“Of course I wanna marry and start a life with her but I'm just scared of….”

“Commitment?” I asked.

“Yeah.” Abraham shyly responded.

“Yea I'm scared of that too, like if Damian ever wants to marry me I don't know if I can cause I want a life long marriage.”

“Exactly, I'm scared at some point Emily and I will divorce.”

“I don't think that'll happen, you and Emily are strong and you guys can make it until you both die.” I said. Abrahams phone started to ring.

“Oh that's Emily, thanks for the talk sis,” He said giving me a kiss on the head.

“Anytime.” I replied

The downstairs was lonely so I decided to take a walk. I opened the front door and stepped outside. I was walking along the path, but it was really cold. I could feel the wind hitting my face. I heard someone call me but I didn't pay attention, I just kept waking.

“Ashlee!” I finally turned around to see who it was.

“Oh, hi Calum. What are you doing here?”

“I was about to ask you the same thing. Ash it's dark, late, and it's cold. Why aren’t  you home?”

“I just needed to get some fresh air.” I replied.

“Oh do you mind if I join you?” Calum asked.

“No not at all.” I said.

Calum and I were walking without saying a word to each other. We were just enjoying the breeze and quietness of the darkness.

“I think we should go back, it's pretty late.” Calum said. I looked at the time and it said 11:24. Oh damn it was late.

“Sure.” I said.

“So how are things with you and Sam?” I asked.

“It's okay,”

“Are you not happy with Sam?”

“No it's not that….it's complicated.” Calum said.

“Oh okay.”

We arrived to my house with took like forever.

“We'll see you later Calum.” I said.

“Bye Ash,”

I went straight to bed and as soon as I hit the bed I fell asleep.
