Locked up with the Badboy.

I take a seat on the floor in front of him, "What?"

He combs a hand through his dark hair and sighs, "This is a maximum security prison, the people here have killed babies, shot up schools , killed multiple partners and run crime rings and you, are saying that I'm mean? "

36. The End.

Ben and I huddle in the bathroom together, we’ve both found good positions for when the fighting arrives but for now we just want to be together. He rests his arm around my shoulders. “I can’t believe this is  happening.” I say.

“Me either,” he shakes his head, “It’s almost funny the amount of trouble we’ve gotten ourselves into.”

“Only not really.” I say rolling my shoulder onto his. “Because it happened to us.”

“Yeah,” he has a little smile on his face, it’s a little secret smile that I’ve never seen before. I kiss it.

“Why are you suddenly so happy?”

Ben tries to drop the smile but he can’t, it returns and I find myself copying it, damn he’s good looking. “I guess I just realized…” one of his arms slide around my back, “That I don’t care if I die tonight, as long as I die with you Clara, I’m happy.”

I touch his chest and stare into his eyes, “I don’t care either. Benny I’d rather die then-“

A shot pings against the roof above us, it’s followed by return fire from Eddy. I turn back to Ben, he’s still staring at me like nothing happened. “I love you Clara,” he says, wrapping his arms under mine and bringing my lips to his. The whole world pops around us but all I can taste is Ben. It’s the most perfect kiss ever. We don’t press into each other, we mould and I can feel every part of Ben zinging through me until I’m sure our hearts beat in perfect usion.

The cupboards either side of us are littered with bullet holes as we stand. Somehow I feel everything through Ben, all the bullet-shocks and the horror of seeing Craig lying stiff with blood spilling from his mouth are blows softened by him. And his caressing heart. I look into his eyes and I smile and I see me and it’s enough.

A coolness spreads through my chest, We both look down as twin patches of blood spread through our stomachs. Ben laughs, “Shot by the same bullet.”

I laugh too, and it feels good. My head spins. He passes me a pistol, then picks up the other. Our fingers brush, our hands reach out and still standing we clasp each other. I gesture toward the door with my pistol, “Shall we?”

Ben kicks open the door as I clench the trigger. Somehow I know I’m going to die, all I care is that it’s with Ben. Two O’vo face us, Ben and I pull triggers, they fall back. The next room there’s four. Ben’s grip on my hand grows tight as we take turns to shoot. The holes in our chests aren’t lonely, they’re joined by a few more.

Ben’s white, but around him is sparkling purple. The blood I’ve lost leaves a trail, maybe the cops will follow it later. I realise we’re at the door, and Ben is smiling which is great because it helps me to fight back the darkness that surrounds us.

Ben’s hand rests on the doorknob, there’s no kicking it down this time. His eyes look into mine. “How do you want to die?” he asks me, it’s a voice that carries all the tenderness in the world. He’s seen me, he knows we won’t be together much longer.

“I doesn’t matter…” I say, “As long as I’m with you.”

The End.
