Color Full

In a world where color cannot be seen until one makes eye contact with their soulmate, Joey Graceffa dyes his hair different colors, even though he cannot see them. He trusts his hairdresser who has found their soulmate, to choose the color. He hopes when he meets his soulmate they like his hair.
Daniel Preda likes his hair.
Kinda inspired by @YaPrtyMuch 's story The Stripe

53. the end

A year has passed.

In a cemetery in Massachusetts, two graves sit side by side in the green grass, just barely in the shade of an oak tree that has bark peeling off of it.  Two figures stand huddled over them, one with jet black hair and another with chocolate brown eyes. They're looking at them with both sorrow and fondness.

"It's been so long, Dan mutters, "I just still can't believe they're gone."

"It's only been a year," Phil says.

"Is it true, Dan, how you were on the phone with Joey that night?"

The brunette nods, biting his lip and staring at his best friend's headstone.

"Are you... ready to tell me what happened?"

Dan nods again, and lets out a whimper.

"Hey now," Phil says, taking his hand, "It's okay."

"But it's not okay. They're gone."

"I know."

Dan wipes his eyes with his sleeve gently.

"Alright... Joey called me the night he was released from the hospital. We were just talking. Joey didn't seem to be upset, he was talking about Daniel, though. Reminding me of all the good times they had and just telling me about him. Stuff I already knew, like his eyes and how they were the color green, but in so much detail. I had no idea he would..."

His voice trails off and he lets his head fall against Phil's neck.

Together they stand in the grass, in the shade of the dying oak tree, weeping for the loss of the boys with the hair full of color.
