Tigers In Us

Blayze is pathetic when it comes to sports. At his school sports matter, not grades. This was never a problem until he is saved, from a routine fight. Then it's a problem.

12. chapter 12

Soon I was alone in the room with Kimball.  She grunted and pulled herself into a sitting position.  Her face was pale but her eyes were clear.

I had so much to say, so I asked the two most important things.  “Are you ok and what does your name mean?” I blurted out.

“Well a bruised rib and shoulder is hardly worth a fuss and tell me what your name means first,” she answered.

“Blazer mean’s fire,” I said.

“I used to get teased about my name, but when I learned it meant warrior the endless joke stopped bothering me,” said Kimball.

We lapsed into silence.

It was broken when Kimball said, “You roared like a tiger, and I've heard a few”.

“I know,” I said.

We locked eyes.  A realization passed between us.  It had to be said though.

“We have the power to do anything,” I said.

“I want to be a trainer for the military when I grow up,” said Kimball.

“Well with how sharply you snapped at me that could be fun,” I teased.

“Want to be in with me,” asked Kimball jokingly.

I didn't hesitate but what came out of my mouth sounded so right, “I will write to change the injustices,” I said.

“That is good,” said Kimball.

“We have an entire lifetime to do this,” I said.

“Let’s get started on these dreams then,” said Kimball, then added, “a writer and military lady would make an odd marriage,” said Kimball.

“Not for me,” I replied.
