4. Chapter 3

It's cold, it's wet and she's not here. I look around again for Mahi, but there's no sign. I've been here for half an hour.

I prepare to go home, I'm almost drenched. She suddenly comes sprinting out of a side path, breathing hard.

"Isabelle! Wait!" she calls.

I turn and wait for her, smiling at her drenched figure.

"What happened to you?" I laugh, falling into step next to her.

"I got held up outside the house, my mum was throwing a tantrum again," she says, rolling her eyes. "What about you?"

"I've been here for half an hour- waiting for you!" I say.

"I'm so sorry, I swear I would've gotten here as soon as possible-"

"It's fine. Lets go back to mine, we need to dry off," I offer.

She nods and we walk together back to my house.

I open the door with my key.

"Nobody's in, so we should be alright," I say, letting it swing open.

She smiles as I move aside to let her in. I close the door and kick off my shoes, leaving them together near the door. Mahi follows my lead, taking her shoes off gently. I go up the stairs, letting her follow me.

I open the door to my bedroom, keeping the door open by kicking a box of books in front of it.

"Welcome to my humble home," I grin.

"You have a really nice room," Mahi says, turning around and facing me.

"Thanks. It took ages to sort out," I laugh.

She turns around with a huge grin and looks at the vinyls and CDs I have piled on my desk.

"You have a great music taste," she beams.

"Thanks," I smile, opening my wardrobe. "You can put whatever on if you want."

She opens a vinyl and puts it on the player. The soft crackling at the beginning of the first track emits from the player as I pull some new clothes from the hangers.

"You can wear whatever fits. I'll go and change in the bathroom," I say, slipping out of my room and closing the door behind me.

I change quickly, a deep red lace up shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans.

I knock on my door and Mahi yells a small 'come in'.

I open the door and walk in, closing it behind me.

Mahi is wearing my white, semi-transparent lace up shirt and another pair of skinny jeans.

Mahi smiles at me and stands in the center of my room. I walk over to my spare wardrobe and get out three of the fluffiest blankets and a few more pillows.

"Netflix and get to known each other?" I suggest, throwing them on my bed.

"Isabelle, you read my mind," she grins, helping me arrange the blankets and pillows. I close the curtains and turn on my TV.

"What do you want to watch?" I ask, clicking on the Netflix.

She thinks, letting me flick through My List.

"Pretty Little Liars?" she suggests, pointing at it.

I nod and press play.

We sit in the dark, watching things flash across the screen.

As I settle further into the covers, I accidentally move closer to Mahi, our knees touching each other gently. The warmth of her shoots up my leg and covers my arms in goosebumps, causing a rush of heat around my body. But in a good way. Everything about her is in a good way.

"Do you want to grab some food?" I ask, turning to her.

We are quite a bit into the series and I am starting to get a little bit hungry.

"Sure," she mumbles, rubbing her eyes gently. I pause the running episode and push the blankets off of my overly hot legs.

"There's a McDonald's just down the road, if you want to go there," I suggest.

"I haven't had McDonald's in ages, lets go," she agrees.

Its beginning to get dark, autumn in England is always dark. I snatch up my trainers from beside my bed and put them on my feet as she grabs her half dried shoes and pulls them on.

I pick up the key as we leave and an umbrella from the stand. I put it up as we walk out and I hold it above Mahi and myself. She smiles gently and moves a little bit closer as we walk down the street towards the brightness of the Main Street.
