"The Troubles " the story is set in Belfast and the North East in 1969.
Seamus Webster and his family flee the riots in Belfast and come to live on Barnstaple Road in North Shields - where he takes up work as a crane driver in Smith's Docks his wife Annie finds a job in the Co-op in Whitley Bay - Seamus is good at DIY and gets lots of work decorating or fitting out new kitchens for people. His father Michael is serving a very long sentence when he is implicated in a
bombing of an army base- his skills as a bomb maker have been passed down to his oldest son and Stephen Mcgill is on the look -out for him as a bombing campaign has begun on mainland Britain. Newcastle has been chosen as the target - can Seamus avoid getting mixed up in this. Read what happens in this tense thriller.

“Yes, we’re all here said Michael as he pointed the automatic weapon in his hand towards the couple Seamus was about to head for the door but Finbar blocked his path.’

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.’

“What do you want?’

“Just a friendly chat; please come with us into the parlour where it’s more cosy.’

They walked into the kitchen where Stephen and Billy Lort were with Liam and Brenda was sitting.

“Are you alright Seamus asked his children.’

“They’re fine, look we have a little job for you, and then you can go about your business like we were never here.’

“I’m not doing anything so you can all get out of my house this minute.’

“Don’t be so hasty now Seamus; I mean you are not in a position to argue are you.’

“We are going to take young Liam here with us as insurance and if you won’t do what we ask well… I will leave you to figure out what will happen to your son.’

They forced Liam out of the seat and pushed him out of the kitchen.’


“What was that?’

“I said alright; I will do what you ask.’

“Now you are seeing sense, but just to make sure that you carry out our orders; I’m going to leave Finbar and Michael here. If you contact the police or anyone I will blow Liam’s kneecaps away understood?’

“Perfectly, sneered Seamus.’

“Good Now I think the least you could do is provide your friends with a meal and a drink ; after all we have come a long way.’

“I have to go said Billy as he buttoned up his jacket.’

“Yes that’s a good idea; lets all go to see Billy tonight we can get something to eat in the club I’m sure; if not there always a fish and chip shop.’

“I cannot go out in these clothes said Seamus; and neither can Annie.

“Alright go and change; Finbar go with them to make sure they don’t leave.’

Seamus and his wife went into the bedroom Finbar checked to make sure there was no telephone then stood outside.

“What are we going to do Seamus asked Annie to her husband?’

“Leave this to me, I will think of something.’

“Take your clothes into the bathroom then come back and fix your make up and then I will get a shave and get ready.’

Annie went into her set of drawers and quickly pulled out some clean underwear then went into the wardrobe.

She chose a blue coloured dress and some blue stiletto heels. She went into the bathroom then shut the door. She ran the shower then stepped in and pulled the curtain around Annie washed herself quickly then grabbed the towel she dried herself then put on her underwear and a slip to go under her dress. Then she put on her tights and the blue dress. She then went back into her bedroom and fixed her hair and make up whilst Seamus went into the bathroom. Finbar had checked to see if there was a means to escape and there wasn’t. Seamus stood under the shower thinking about how he was going to get out of this situation he now found himself in.

He rubbed the mirror with the damp towel to take away the steam after he’d dried himself then had a quick shave.

He splashed some Hai Karate on his face then put on his black slacks and a clean white shirt. He fixed the collar of his shirt then put on a navy blue tie with a silver
