No Room for Love

Eli and Brooklyn were everyone's ideal couple. They didn't have it all, but they had each other... until they didn't.

*Three Years Ago Still... (same night)*

Brooklyn stood in the bathroom of her little house staring at herself in the mirror. She looked terrible. Her eyes were red, and mascara had run down her cheeks. Shaking her head, she let out a sigh and unzipped her gown, allowing it to fall down her waist onto the floor. She tied her hair up and began to wipe her make-up off of her face. When she finished, she tossed the wipe into the tiny black trash can in the corner of the bathroom. She then turned on the shower, removed the rest of her clothes, and stepped in.

She stood in the shower and cried for about 30 minutes. It felt good to cry in the shower. She couldn't tell the difference between her tears and the hot water running down her face. She didn't know what to think or how to feel. After replaying the night's events over and over in her head she still couldn't understand. Suddenly she heard something. Music. She couldn't remember leaving the t.v. or radio on. Then she recognized the tune. It was Adagio in G minor, her favorite song to play on piano. It was a soft and beautiful composition with a melancholy feel. Where  was that coming from? She turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. Without drying off, she opened the bathroom door and stepped into her bedroom, grabbed her light gray silk robe off of the bed post and slipped it on, wrapping it around her and tying the sash. Brooklyn opened her bedroom door and followed the music down the hall into the livingroom. There sat Eli at the old brown piano in the corner of the room with his eyes closed and his long fingers running over the keys.

"How did you get in here?" Eli's eyes shot open as Brooklyn's voice broke his focus.

He turned to answer her, but when his eyes landed on her, he couldn't find the words. Of all the time they spent together, he had never seen Brooklyn like this. She was one of the most modest women he knew; always clothed, and tastefully so. Even when they were alone making out, they had always stopped before things got too heated. Yet there she stood, wet, silk robe clinging to her breasts, hardened nipples on display, robe only reaching mid-thigh,  and beads of water rolling down her long legs. She was beautiful, and causing something to stir deep inside Eli.

"Eli." She said, breaking him from his trance. "How did you get in?"

" the door was unlocked." He stood up from the piano stool causing Brooklyn to take a step back.

"Brook, don't run away. I need you to let me explain.... please. Just give me a chance to explain, then you can kick me out." Brooklyn looked at him for a moment, then waved her hand toward the couch.

Eli picked a spot at the end of the couch. When he was seated, Brooklyn walked past him; robe clinging to her backside as well. She sat at the other end of the couch and bent her knees, crossing her ankles. This made the robe rise up further on her thighs. Eli's eyes were running up and down her legs until a navy pillow dropped into her lap, obstructing his view. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and began.

"Sarah is Mr. Carter's daughter. She and I dated a few years ago. It was very short-lived. Our relationship was mainly physical attraction because we had nothing in common. All she wanted to do was jump on me..... well me and everyone else. So I broke it off. That never stopped her from flirting with me whenever she saw me. It doesn't help either that her dad loves me. He basically encourages her behavior. He's always trying to hook us up, and always calls me son. Anyway, back at the party, he told me to go to his office with him. When we got there, he gave a short speech about how I'm a big asset to the company, etc., and he asked me if I wanted to be his partner over the firm. I asked him why he didn't give the job to Sarah, and he said that Sarah would take his place when he decided to retire anyway. So of course I accepted the job. It was the biggest promotion of my life. We shook hands and toasted, and came back downstairs. When we got out of the elevator I wanted to find you right away and tell you the news, but Sarah got to me first. Apparently, she already knew about the offer."

"Looked to me like you enjoyed that little encounter." Brooklyn cut it in, and Eli let out a big sigh.

"I'm a man, Brooklyn. You have got to believe me when I say that I don't want Sarah. She just knows where to touch me. If you hit certain areas on my body, I'm going to have a reaction whether I have feelings for you or not. And trust me, I don't have feelings for her."

Brooklyn rolled her eyes and crossed her arms; which only pushed her breast up more, making it hard for Eli to concentrate. He shook his head to clear his mind, and continued his explanation.

"So, after you left, I went back inside to get my own jacket before I left. When I went in, Mr. Carter and Sarah were standing in the lobby laughing. I was so pissed off that I decided to confront Mr. Carter about ignoring you when I introduced you two. He said that you seem nice and all for your type, but I am about to be partner over one of the largest marketing firms in the country and should remain focused on my goals."

"My type?" Brooklyn leaned back and narrowed her eyes. "My type, Eli?"

"I asked him what that meant, and he said, "Well look at her. She wont exactly fit in our world.Your face will be in magazines and news papers, and having her type on your arm won't  fit well with my vision of how the heads of this company should look. We don't care for breed mixing. That's why Sarah is such a great fit.""

Brooklyn raised her hands to her mouth in disbelief. "What did you say to him?" She asked visibly holding back tears.

"Brook..." Eli grabbed the large pillow that was in the middle off the couch, moved it aside, and scooted closer to Brooklyn. "Brook, I-"

"Eli... what did you say?"

He grabbed her hands from her face and looked into her eyes. "I punched the old bastard in the face, and told him he'd receive my letter of resignation in the morning."

"You quit??"

"Yes I did." A sad smile played across his lips.

"Eli. You can't quit your job for me. That was the greatest promotion of your life! I'll be fine. You need-"

"You need to understand that I know what I'm doing." he cut in. "I didn't quit my job because I was trying to defend your honor. I know that your are strong, and you can handle yourself." He cupped her face in both of his hands. "Baby, I quit my job because I need you far more than I need it. Brooklyn, I love you."

"How much?"Tears began to roll down Brooklyn's cheeks.

"So much." Eli used his thumbs to wipe them away, and leaned forward, kissing her on the eyelids. He gently moved down to kiss her nose, and hovered over her lips. When she didn't resist, he slowly pressed his lips to hers, and kissed her softly. He felt her hands slide up his abdomen, over his chest, and up around his neck, pulling him forward and deepening the kiss. Eli had never felt so much passion for anyone before in his life. Suddenly Brooklyn pulled away and looked into his Eyes.

"I love you too."

Eli's lips were instantly on Brooklyn's. She parted her lips, allowing room for Eli's tongue to slide in. As heat rose between them, Eli realized that he could no longer take the space between them. He grabbed the navy pillow off of Brooklyn's legs and threw it aside, pulling her into his lap. He released her lips and kissed up her jawline to her earlobe, and sucked and nibbled at it, as he rubbed up and down her thighs. Brooklyn quickly unbuttoned his shirt and let her fingers run over his abs. She felt something harden and rise up under her butt, causing her to shudder and a moan pass her lips. She then grabbed Eli's belt buckle, but he grabbed her wrists and stopped kissing her.

"Are you sure? I don't wan't you to feel rushed. I know it's been a while for you."

Brooklyn looked into Eli's eyes. "If you truly love me... I'm ready."

Eli gazed into her eyes for a moment, his eyes turning a darker green than usual. Smirking, he kicked off his shoes, turned Brooklyn so he was cradling her in his arms, stood up from the couch and walked down the hallway to Brooklyn's room. He pushed the door open with his foot and stepped inside, placing Brooklyn on her feet. He grabbed her hands, kissed the back of each hand and placed them back onto his belt buckle. After she took his belt off and unbuttoned his pants, they dropped to the floor around his ankles, and Eli stepped out of his pants. Brooklyn's eyes grew wide when she saw how his large member pushed against the fabric of his boxer briefs.

"Baby, I'll show you..." He leaned down and placed a kiss on her collar bone. "just how real and true my love is for you."

"A pianist and poet... man of my dreams." Brooklyn giggled.

Eli brushed his lips up her neck. "I can be more than that." he whispered against her skin before pulling the sash of her robe and letting it fall open.
