Full moon

Historie til konkurrencen: Fantastiske skabninger og hvor de findes. Jeg har valgt den tredje mulighed, altså at skrive en fanfiction i en anden tid end hvad man er vant til.
This story takes place a long time before anyone had even thought about Harry Potter.
The story is written from Sirius Black's point of view, and is about his 7th year at Hogwarts.
(Billedet som er brugt til cover er ikke mit originale. Jeg fandt billedet på pinterest og klippede derefter selv månen ind og skrev titel + forfatternavn på)

7. ---

Two days till full moon.
It was always a bit strange. Remus started fearing all the things that could go wrong, we tried to calm him down, it didn't work.

One day till full moon.
We were ready. Remus felt horrible, he always did at this point.

Full moon.
We didn't need to talk;  We knew what was going to happen, we had done it since our fifth year. I still remembered when we told Remus. The surprised but happy look on his face. Even though we had been such good friends even then, he had still feared that we would leave him, because of what he was. It took him almost two years to tell us. Sometimes I was afraid that he still feared we would leave him. We would never do that. We were best friends, and none of us would ever leave like that.

It was 6 pm. We knew that the whole school was in the Great Hall having dinner, and it wasn't hard to get out unseen. Remus was already pale, and he didn't say anything as we walked crossed the lawn. As soon as we could see the tree, Peter turned into a rat, and ran in to find the spot. It didn't take long before the Whomping Willow was completely still. We walked over to the foot of the tree, and a little while later we were in the shack. James and I joined Peter and turned into animals. Now we just had to wait. It was horrible. I lost track of time, but suddenly the first moonlight crossed the floor. It lit up Remus' face. He didn't look scared, he just looked tired. But then it began. The transformation. I hated it. It was horrible to look at. His face was filled with pain, but soon after it was almost impossible to see his human traits.
A werewolf was now standing in front of us. He started howling. It was always difficult in the beginning. It was in a werewolfs nature to kill, and we had to calm him down. Normally it didn't take so long when we all helped, but something was different this time. He was much more violent than usually. I didn't know what it was, but we couldn't calm him down, he kept fighting. At one point we lost control, he was stronger. He fled out of the room, and we ran after him. We tried to stop him but we couldn't. Before we knew it he was in the underground passage and on his way to the school. For a brief moment I was paralysed by panic. I thought of all the students gathered in the Great Hall. What if we couldn't stop him? What if he got inside the castle? I had to shake the thought off and keep chasing him. We had to stop him. James was now in front, but he was still far away from Remus. My heart skipped a beat when the lawn was lit up. Someone was coming out from the castle!
Remus stopped and looked at the silhouets. We had to act quick now that he had stopped moving. I kept running. When I reached him I jumped up and we both fell to the ground. I hated the fact that I had to hurt him, but he would never forgive me if I let him get near some of the other students. I somehow managed to push him all the way into the forbidden forest and the fight continued. James and Peter came to help me. We couldn't calm him down, the only possibility was to just continue fighting him until he turned back into normal. And so we did.

It was early morning.  We were all lying exhausted on the ground. I had gotten a lot of scratches, but it was worse with Remus. I hated the fact that I was responsible for at least half of his injuries. We all sat up.
"What happened, why are we in the forest?" Remus asked confused. He looked scared. "No one got hurt" I said quickly. It was obvious that it relaxed him. "I don't know what happened" said James. "We couldn't calm you down last night. You were stronger and we lost control" James told everything and Remus looked like he had been beaten. "But it's okay Remus. You didn't hurt anyone" said Peter "It's not okay, Peter!" yelled Remus. Peter looked frightened, and Remus regreted it as soon as he had said it. "I'm so sorry Peter, I didn't mean to..." he didn't know what to say, neither did we. There was a complete silence until Remus just said: "Thanks guys"

We walked back to the school. Most of the castle was still asleep, and luckily we didn't meet anyone on our way to the common room. We all fell asleep as soon as we hit the beds.
