The Muggle of Hogwarts

Mavis Frank gets a letter from Hogwarts. Mavis Frank gets into 9/34. But Mavis Frank is a muggle.

11. Halloween

"So then, we're planning to meet with the two Skeeters, and ask them very specific questions about them, and record the whole thing using a muggle device." I explained to Linda and Milo a few days later in the library.

"Why a MUGGLE device?" Milo asked.

"Because their purebloods." I said. "I'll just say that its a radiator or something."

"Whats a rah-dee-ah-toor?" Linda asked. I giggled.

"Good question." I smiled.

"I'm so excited!" Linda squealed, changing the subject.

"For what?" Milo asked, leaning forward over a shelf to grab a book, Unfogging the Future.

"Um," Linda said. "Halloween? It's in two days."

"Really?" I asked, picking up my quill and beginning to write on my parchment. I had to write a 3 scroll essay on the importance of the Gargoyle Strike of 1911. A bore, really. "I thought it was in a week."

"No." Linda shook her head. "I said that LAST week."

"Oh." I said, and paused to check my book.

Two days later, were were in the lunchroom. Halloween.

"Hey, Frank!" I heard a familiar voice. Scorpius.

"Hey, Malfoy!" I answered, a smile growing.

"Who're those people?" Linda whispered.

"Albus Potter, and Scorpius Malfoy." I said pointing to them. "Their in Milo's year I think."

"Yeah." Milo nods. "We sit next to each other in potions."

"Oh yeah..." Albus nods. "You make memory potions well." Milo nodded, and they waved goodbye as they sat at their table.

"I'm really worried about that potions essay..." Linda began, so me and Milo swung in with hoards of "Don't you worry," or "You're the smartest in our class."

"Everyone quiet down!" McGonogall's voice came from the front of the room. We looked over.

"I just want to thank all our chefs, the house elves, and everyone who played a role in tonight." She said. A polite round of applause began, but then abated quickly. "Now, EAT!" Without objection, everyone dug into their plates eating stuffing crispy chicken, blobs of mashed potato, stacks of donuts, and about every kind of pudding you could imagine.

"Favorite Holiday!" Linda said between mouthfuls of pumpkin pasties.

For once, I wasn't worried about my future.

For once, I wasn't planning my escape from Hogwarts.

For once, there was not a worry in the world.

But then I remembered the interview with the Skeeters.

A bit of a worry there.

Oh, well.
