"Sign up to stay here for the holidays!" Becky Chang called out to the students in the common room one cold December day.

Linda stood up at once to sign it, but Milo kept on reading his magazine.

"You're not staying?" I asked.

"I am." He said, and stood up to sign it. "You?"

"I'm staying." I said. "But I don't celebrate Christmas, I'm Jewish."

"Oh." He nodded, and I stood up and signed Mavis Frank on the list. Then, me and Linda sat back down in our armchairs next to Milo and carried on reading Secrets

"Whoa!" Linda gasped.

"What?" I asked.

"Turn to page 982!" She said as I frantically turned. "They already have everyone that's staying written down!" I gasped as I saw about 35 names already written down, and a few halfway written.

"Hey look- there's Mathew!" I pointed at the bottom of the page. This went on a few more minutes, but then it stopped. "54 people staying." I said. "Not to shabby."

"Are you kidding?" A voice says behind us. We turn around to see Becky Chang. "That's the most we've had in years!" She grinned and flounced away back up to her dorm.

"That's a lot of people... I guess." I shrugged.

"What do you mean?" Linda asked. "Thats like... a sixth of the whole school! That is a lot of people!"

"Welllllllllll..." I began. "Last year in my muggle school there were 394 kids in my grade."

"Wow..." Linda frowned. "That must have been awfully hard to learn with such a big class!"

"No..." I shook my head. "We switched classes 7 times a day, and in each class there were different students. You never had all your classes with the same people."

"Really?" Linda asked. "That's so cool! But how did you learn everyone's name?"

"Well," I paused. "honestly, you didn't. In my school, you stuck with your friends the whole year. You never really talked to anyone else- well, besides in class. So, it was pretty hard to make new friends. But not all muggle schools are like that." I added quickly.

"I get it." Linda nodded. "People might be friends, but they get accepted to different wizard schools, so you end up breaking up and having to make new friends, which is hard. Often you get accepted to wizarding schools that sometimes are on a completely different continent than you!"

"That happened to me!" I nodded. "I actually live in the United States, not in the UK."

"Yeah!" Linda smiled. "But how did you get accepted anyway?"

"I have NO clue!" I shrugged. "It's not very common for muggles to be accepted to a wizarding school- is it?"

"Nope." Linda shook her head. "But it happened once to a wizard school in Australia! A boy- Harrison Peppers got accepted to a school- as a muggle! They had to erase his memory and had him sent home."

"Oh, wow!" I said thoughtfully.
"There's a biography of him in the library- it's quite short as he only stayed at the school for 3 days. But right now he's an accountant living in Melbourne, so it's all good."

"Maybe there's going to be a biography on you someday, Mavis!" Milo said happily, finally contributing into the conversation.

"Maybe one about us taking Rita down!" I added.

"Ooh!" Linda smiled. But then her smile quickly disappeared and she turned to me. "But Mavis, you should really ask McGonogall why you were accepted... like if it were mistake or something. It might not be a mistake after all!"

"I don't think so..." I said. "But I'll be sure to ask her at some point!

"Good idea." Milo nodded.
