The nurses in the prison hospital gave Darren Ingles to paracetamol tablets then set to work placing wax gauzes across his face and neck. Then he was taken back to his cell.

At precisely five o’clock they ordered him to collect his things and he was placed in solitary confinement for his own protection. It made little difference to him now he thought as he was escorted down to the isolated wing.

His visit had to be cancelled as he was in the hospital wing at the time when Ernie Kay came. He was told to come back the next day.

When Ernie saw the state of Darren’s face he asked what the hell had happened to him.

“Never mind that did you bring the forms for me to fill in.’

“Yes here, Darren peered out of his one good eye and signed the forms transferring all of his money over to Tanya.

“You must get her to do this immediately.’

“She will be here soon said Ernie as she stayed over last night.’

“What, she stayed over with Jonathan Hardington?’

“Not in the same rooms said Ernie, trying to instil some calm into his boss?’

“Do you want some coffee to drink?’

“No but get yourself one if you wish.’

Ten minutes later Tanya came to the table she looked at Darren and asked him what had happened.’

“Someone in here didn’t like my face so they scalded me.’

So have you been moved darling; said Tanya trying to act sincere.’

“Look I will be okay, just listen for a minute as we don’t have much time.’

I have signed all my money over to you; you will take control until I get out of here in a few months. You must  go to see Colin Sarin; he is expecting you take £30.000 pounds with you and give it to him and he will give you a package give it to Ernie here who will make sure that it is distributed.’

“What is in the parcel?

“They are gifts from me to my staff dear.’

“Oh I see.’

“Ernie you will collect my debts from the clubs each week understand. The money must be given to Tanya to deposit. Don’t think that because that I’m inside that I don’t know how much money I will have when I get out of here.’ Tanya will pay you your wages and to the rest of my staff. The books are in the safe Tanya they have all the payments that people owe me each week. Just write down the amounts then deposit all the money at the end of the week. Can you do that for me?’

“Yes of course.’

“Good, Ernie will drive you anywhere that you want to go when you get back.’

“You can collect the car next week as the job I wanted done on it will be finished now.’

Plus the rubbish that is in the lock up will have to be moved.

“I can do that said Tanya.’

“It’s alright Tanya darling Ernie will see to that when you are gone.’

I want you to go straight to the bank and sort this out after visiting it will take a few days to clear then you can draw out the money before you leave on Saturday.’

The buzzer went and Tanya forced herself to kiss Darren before leaving with Ernie.’

Once outside she told Ernie that Jonathan was driving her back and that she would see him back at the house.’
