29. Movie Night

*A Few Days Later*

“So, we’re just going to sit on the same couch and watch movies?” I ask Ashton as I pull the soft blanker around me and lean back into the couch.

“Correct,” Ashton smiles as he puts a movie into the player and then makes his way to the couch.

“Alright then,” I take a bite of my thin mint ice cream. “What movie did you pick?”

“Inception. I’m assuming you’ve seen it.”

“Of course. I love Leo, and Ellen Paige is such an amazing actress. And the plot, just wow. It’s fantastic. A bit confusing, but fantastic.”

Ashton laughs, “I can tell you really like the movie. Maybe we will just watch movies with Leonardo DiCaprio in them tonight.”

“That would be awesome. He’s an amazing actor. It angers me he’s still without and Oscar. I mean come on, every role he plays he executes it perfectly.”

          “Have you ever met him?”

“Ha, I wish. That would be amazing. I’d tell him how I have watched al the movies he’s been in and loved him in every one. How could you not?”

He shrugs, “It’s hard to say. But at least you know he’s great.”

          “Don’t you?”

“I’ve never really had time to watch a lot of his movies and take in his acting skills.”

“Well, today you are. Pay close attention to him, but still watch the movie. Do you have a lot of his movies?”

“Yeah. I got them for my little sister for when she and my younger brother come over to hang out. She tells me all the movies I should get.”

“I’ll have to meet her soon to discuss actors and actresses. If she like Leo, I wonder who else she’s into.”

“I’ll arrange something. I bet you and her would really get along.”

“I’m assuming she’s a few years younger than me?”

“She is, but like me, she had to grow up fast. A father walking out on a family will do that.”

“I don’t think I’ve said anything about how it sucks that your dad just up and left, but I’m sorry that he was that sick to do something like that. I know you’ve probably moved on and it doesn’t mean anything. I just, wanted to say it.”

“It means something coming from you,” he smiles.

“Okay, enough chit-chat. Start the movie.”

We watch five other DiCaprio movies after Inception, talking about each one before starting the next. It’s about halfway through the last one of the night that I let myself drift asleep.

~Ashton’s POV~

I look over to notice Rose’s eyes are closed and a soft snore is escaping her lips. She looks so peaceful and it’s amazing to think she hates me.

I scoot closer to her and put my around her torso, slowly pulling her into me so her head rests on my shoulder. “Why do you hate me?” I whisper.

Ever since I rescued her, I’ve felt something. A spark as some would say. When I cleaned, stitched, and bandaged her stab wound, it pained me to see the pained faces she made in her sleep. I’ve been looking for a girl, and now I’ve found her. However, she hates me.

The drug business is something my dad got me into before he left. It’s just something that I know how to lead, and it brings in more money than the bank ever will. Plus, it makes me think my dad might actually be proud of me.

Rose, oh Rose, she hates me because of it. I can’t just leave to make her happy and get the girl. So many people depend on me to run the business.

          “Ash,” Rose sighs.

“Dreaming of me love?” I quietly chuckle.

Maybe she doesn’t hate me like I think. Maybe the nickname jackass is just to make it seem like she hates me. Maybe she likes me but won’t admit it because she truly hates what I do. Even if she likes me a tiny bit, she’ll eventually look past what I do as a side job. Maybe I’ll actually get the girl.

I smile to myself and look back at the TV playing a movie whose name I can’t remember.

Ah, Rose and Ashton. Hope you liked it! :D
