46. Meeting the Family

*That Weekend*

“Ashton!” A girl a few years younger than me rushes up to Ashton as he and I enter the house where his family lives.

“Hi Lauren,” Ashton hugs the girl for a few seconds.

“You haven’t visited in so long,” the smile on her face is huge. “Mum says it’s because you’ve taken over the bank now and you’ll be busier than you used to be.” She finally catches a glimpse of me and full turns to look at me. “Oh my, I’m so sorry for ignoring you. Um, I’m Lauren, Ashton’s younger sister. I’m almost sixteen. And you are?”

“I’m Rose Faith, but, as I tell everyone, Rose is fine,” I smile. “I’m your brother’s girlfriend.”

“Really? You’re so pretty, and seem so nice. My brother hasn’t brought a girl home in ages. I think he’s finally found a good match for him.”

          “Lauren,” Ashton groans.

I laugh, “Well, you’re very pretty and seem nice as well. I think we will be good friends. You’d love my sister more than me though. I’ll give you her email and some other things before I leave.”

“A pen pal, that would be so cool,” Lauren giggles. “You are already a million times better than any other girl Ashton has ever dated.”

“Ash!” A little boy’s voice exclaims. Then a boy about twelve years old comes rushing up to Ashton.

“Harry!” Ashton exclaims and opens his arms for the boy to jump into.

“Why are you here?” Harry asks.

“Because I wanted to catch up and introduce my girlfriend,” Ashton sets the boy on the ground and Harry looks over at me.

“Hi Harry,” I give a small wave. “I’m Rose Faith, but you can call me Rose for short.”

“You’re pretty,” Harry giggles. “I’m Ashton’s younger brother. You can call me Harry because that’s all you can. Um, I’m almost twelve.”

“You’re almost a teenager, that’s crazy. And you’re super cute,” I giggle. “I wish I had a younger brother whom I could connect you with, but I don’t. I’m sorry.”

“That’s alright. I can be your younger brother.”

          “Really? Oh, I’d love that.”

“I think to seal the deal I should give you a hug.”

I open my arms, “I think you should too.”

He jumps into my arms and I’m surprised I don’t fall over. He’s a big kid but seems younger than he is. He is so cute and I love him already.”

“Ashton?” An older lady’s voice fills my ears.

I set Harry down and look towards the voice.

It is an older woman, who I assume is Ashton’s mother. “I forgot you were coming over today. Oh, and who is this?” She smiles at me.

“Oh, this is Rose. She’s my girlfriend,” Ashton smiles and grabs my hand.

“Rose Faith,” Harry speaks up. “But rose is for short.”

I laugh, “Hello ma’am, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Hello dear, I’m Anne Marie, but you can call me Anne. It’s nice to meet you too,” the woman smiles. “Ashton has actually spoke to me a few times about you. You are just as he described you to be. I accept.”

“Mum,” Ashton groans. “Please, don’t embarrass me.”

“I will make no such promises,” Anne laughs.

I laugh, “Don’t worry Ash. Whatever she says, I promise I’ll only tell my sister. I can’t promise who she will tell, though.”

‘You are all terrible,” he grumbles.

“Okay, no more groaning and grumbling,” Anne claps her hands together. “I have lunch started that needs finish, and I think Lauren and Harry have some homework.”

Harry and Lauren groan this time.

I giggle, “I can help you guys if you want. I only pass high school with all A’s.”

          “Please, will you?” Lauren asks.

“That would be so nice,” Harry says.

“Of course. Just lead the way,” I smile.

“Ah, so nice, lovely,” Ashton kisses my cheek. “See, I told you they’d love you.”

          “You had doubts?” Anne questions.

“I am just always nervous. I’m good now. You are all so nice and welcoming. Filled with so much love.”

Ah, meeting the family is always a nerve trip. Hope you liked it! :D
