I walked into school the next day with a strange sense of confidence.

I went straight to my locker fiddling with it and finally put my books in. I took my time, occasionally glancing at Renee out of the corner of my eye.

She was standing at the corner laughing with her friends as usual. She was so perfect, just standing there with enough confidence to tower over the world.

I took in one final deep breath, rehearsing what is say in my head one last time. I gathered myself, and walked over to Renee with a powerful strut.

She looked at me, mildly interested, and gave her friends a look, and they said they'd see her at lunch and walked off. She turned her full attention to me.

"Hey, Andrea. What's up?" She asked, looking intrigued. I was a bit shocked. I didn't know she had any idea who I was.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out Friday after school? I mean, people are busy, and I always wanted to hang out with you, and it sounds like a good time, and my parents are out of town for a month on a business thing, so I've got a house to myself, and we could have fu-" Renee cut me off, giggling. My face turned red from the rambling.

"I'd love to hang out. Sleepover?" She asked with a grin.

I nodded with a small smile, not expecting she'd want to hang out for more than a few hours. This was going a lot better than I thought.

I stumbled through all of my classes in a daze, still smiling from my encounter with Renee this morning.

I closed my locker at the end of the day, keys in my hand, and turned around, only to be face to face with Haley. Kelsey's new girlfriend.

I surprised my self and wasn't mad.

"Look," began Haley. "I don't think Kelsey meant to hurt your feelings. She's just happier now. So hopefully you can respect that and stay the hell away from my girlfriend." She smirked, then walked away. She looked back at where I was standing, and seemed shocked to see that I was already halfway out the door with a smile.

I was happier without Kelsey, so I'm glad she's happier without me. I'd just make sure to giggle a little extra loud with Renee when she came over Friday to show Kelsey I was most certainly happier.
