The Wolf

When I was young, mom told me the story of red riding hood, only we used to called it Layla and the Wolf.
The Wolf tells the same story, but waay differently.

I closed my eyes and opened my mouth, ready for my kiss.

But I heard a roar and when I opened my eyes, Dylan was not there, instead, there was a blonde wolf, being attacked by another black one.

I slapped my mouth with my hand in shock. I knew who that black wolf was. Alfie.

"Dylan?" I called, so desperate to find him somewhere, anywhere.

Anywhere but right in front of me.

I can't have made the same mistake again.

I can't be this stupid.

Trusting the wrong person over and over again.

I was scared and I wanted to run away, but I didn't know where to go. I was scared I'd get lost in the woods. I knew Alfie would find me wherever I went, he always could, but I couldn't trust Alfie.

Alfie who was attacking the wolf in front of me who I'm refusing to believe is Dylan.

Because this only means he was trying to kill me. And I can't believe I was stupid enough to believe he just wanted to kiss me in the woods.

The blonde wolf was attacking really strongly, it - or maybe he - scratched Alfie on his back with his paw, the scratch was so deep and Alfie was bleeding. He let out a cry like a puppy's and for a moment I felt sorry for him. But that only got Alfie angrier, which means he went all wolfy on that wolf. They kept on fighting for a while, but they were moving so quickly. Last thing I saw, Alfie bit the other wolf from its throat.

The other wolf didn't move for a while, a minute later, it dropped dead. Turning into a man.

Turning into Dylan.

Alfie turned into a human too.

"We turn into humans when we die, proves just how much we're human." He said, chocking with pain. "Do you believe me now?"

I ran to him, crying. "Shh, don't talk now. We should take somewhere, you should be healed."

"I can't move, Layla. I just want you to forgive me now before I go. I really do love you."

"Alfie, you're not going anywhere, alright. You're only going to the hospital."

"I'm losing so much blood-"

I kissed him hard.

"You hold on there. I'll go get you some help. I love you."

"Don't leave me." He said, gripping my hand, kissing it.

"I'll be back. Be strong, hold on for me."

"Keep going straight this way, you'll find the lake. You might find my brothers near there. Call for them, J-Jake and Joey."

I ran like a bullet, I kept on running and running and I couldn't breathe, but I couldn't care less. Alfie was dying because of me, and I had to help him. I had to make him live. I love him. I don't want to lose him.

"JOEY! JAKE!" I called as I realized I was soaking with water from the lake.

The woods didn't seem to scare me anymore, the thought of losing Alfie did.

"JOEY! JAKE! It's me, Layla! The girl. Alfie needs you, he's d-" I couldn't bring myself to say it. "He's dying!"

"Where is he?" Someone said, coming out of nowhere. Joey. I pointed at the place I came from.

"Dylan attacked him."

"Fill a bucket with water from the lake and follow us."
