*Colette's POV*

"Thank you, enjoy!" I say to the old lady who bought a small box full of goods. Her beautiful, small smile made me smile as well. I hummed and skipped around the bakery throughout the day, only radiating my happiness around to others. I wanted a good day, so kept a smile on my face and had been polite to customers.

Calum stayed in the back the whole time, helping create more dough and bake. He worked hard but didn't get enough that he deserved. I stare at him alittle, admiring his toned arms and broad shoulders. He had a contagious smile and did anything to make me happy. I was glad to have him as a friend.

I was distracted from thought as I heard my cell phone ring from the distance. I grow curiosity about who needed my attention now. No one usually called me during work. I see the caller I.D. to be Louis. I take a deep breath and answer.

"Ms. Stone?"

"Yes, Louis?"

His voice wasn't as husky and raspy as Mr. Styles. He also didn't leave me with shivers crawling through my spine every time he spoke. Why was he so different from Mr.Styles?

"I have news about your job offering".

I take a deep breath, waiting for a response, "well?" I ask.

"Congratulations, you begin work tomorrow at the same time you came in for your interview". He admitted. My heart raced with excitement. I couldn't resist smiling widely and cheering lightly. "Thank you for the offer! I would've never got this if it wasn't for you" I tell him.

He chuckles, "it's no problem. You will need to match the business attire that's formally traditional at the company. You did catch a glimpse of the other women at the company, right?"

The sudden rush of happiness filled my chest with worry. I did remember what Stacy was wearing but I knew that wasn't something I was up for. I didn't enjoy dressing up plain and simple. I didn't want to look the same as everyone else. "Yes I did. I will be in uniform tomorrow". I bite my lip as I continued thinking where I was going to get the type of clothes from.

"Good. See you tomorrow then, Ms. Stone. Bring any utensils and paper to write with. You will be the new assistant for Mr. Styles".

He hangs up and leaves me lost in the thought. I didn't know what to do or feel. I was ecstatic to find out, until the outfit situation came in. I look for Calum to tell him the news. I spot him pressing the dough in shape while having his arms flex sharply. "Calum! Guess what?" I call. He looks at me for a second then wipes his forehead with his arm. Powder from the dough covered his apron and arms.

"What is it?" He asked. I grin at him, causing him to question my thought. I squeeze the phone in my hand and nearly squeak, "I got the job!" He reveals a sad smile, only letting me to believe he wasn't truly happy for me. I frown at him and wonder what has caused him to be like this. "Congrats" he dryly says.

His eyes only locked with the dough in front of him and continued to work. I look at him curiously, trying to read him. His face was blank and silent. I didn't like this side of him. "What's wrong? Aren't you happy for me?" I spoke. He shrugs but continued to work. I felt like a bothersome all of of sudden. I didn't feel like he understood how much I needed this job. I wasn't going to struggle anymore.

I place a hand on his shoulder and look for reassurance. He finally stops making dough again and looks into my eyes. Pain filled his dark chocolate eyes as they glistened against the light. My body began to sense his mixed emotions. "I'm glad you got it but now you won't be around anymore".

I smile lightly at him to signal my presence, "I will visit, don't worry". His eyes showed a bit of relief but still a hint of pain. I pat his shoulder and let him continue making dough. It was weird to tell him about it. Calum didn't really understand how difficult it was to work for your ill mother and take care of yourself.

My father's empty presence only represents his weakness of commitment and loyalty. I wanted to only see him if he was going to apologize. I hated the fact that he left us. I just wanted to know if that other girl he was with in Colorado was even worth it. I shake myself into reality as more customers began to walk in. I couldn't let anyone control me. This was my decision and I must do this for my mother.

It was dark and mellow. The corners of the street had nothing but cigarettes and grown men, gossiping about their sex lives. Inside the abandoned building, stood a middle-aged man. His voice was rough and his intentions were sinister. His mind only stood for one thing: revenge.

He sits inside his office, awaiting a phone call. His business has only began working since he had others doing his dirty deeds. He barely smiled, but when he did, it truly meant he was happy. He was always alone, drinking whiskey and sitting. He never spoke to anyone unless it was for his business. Soon, a phone call came in. The emptiness of the room filled with his icy, dry voice.
