13. The Football Game

At the beginning of this school year, in football season, the six of us went to see a game. I think it was because Cody- Lea's boyfriend- was playing. Cody wasn't really athletic, so he was just a bench warmer. Lea still insisted we go.

We didn't even really watch the game. We pretty much just talked about random stuff the whole time. When we did start to watch the game, just a little, that's when it happened.

One of the players from the other team got angry because someone had made an 'unfair call' that caused our home team to receive an advantage. Then that guy took the football, and chucked it up in to the crowd right where we were sitting.

I didn't even know it had happened until I looked and saw that I caught the football. It wasn't anything spectacular, but what it led to was.

I was walking down the bleachers to go hand the football back to the coach, when Ryder met me half way. I gave him the football.

"I better watch out or you'll take my job as wide receiver." Ryder laughed.

"I'm not sure about that one." I joked back.

"Good thing you caught that." He said.

"Why?" I giggled slightly.

"A football going that fast could've given you a bloody eye or a black nose." He chuckled.

"I think you have that mixed up." I chuckled back.

"I guess I'm nervous." there was a slight pause, "for the game, I mean, uh." he stuttered.

"I bet it makes it even more nerve racking having your girlfriend Cass watch you." I say with a slight smile. On the inside I was full of rage.

"Is Cass here? She never comes to my games." He said looking for Cass in the crowd.

"Oh, um, I didn't see her. I just assumed she'd come and watch you." I said losing my slight smile.

"Yeah she doesn't really..." He was cut off.

"Paisley! Get over here!" Coach yelled.

"I guess that's my cue. Um, will you meet me by the concession stand at the end of the game?" He asked, catching me off guard.

"Yeah. Sure." I said curiously.

"Great. Bye!" He said heading off.

"Good luck!" I yelled as he gave me a thumbs up.

I could never forget that moment.
