He Changed Her

While enjoying Australia with her best friends Troian receives terrible news. Trying to deal with the bad news she walks off and meets a handsome kind stranger, Liam, they keep in touch and develop a close relationship. Troian's friends think highly of Liam at first, but then they notice slight differences in Troian's behaviour. Is Liam really that good of an influence on Troian?

1. My fault

"The water is so nice. Come back to the pool, Troi!" My friends yelled.

"One second okay." I smiled. "My dad is calling me." I answered my phone and happily greeted him: "Hey dad."

"Hey Troian. " My father hesitantly said. "I need to tell you something. I wish I didn't have to do this over the phone, but there seems to be no other way...."

"What's wrong? Is it grandma?" I asked hoping my sick beloved grandmother was fine. "Please don't tell me grandma died."

"No, she's fine. It's something else." My father stayed quiet for a second. "Look dear. I don't want to ruin your vacation with your friends, but you have the right to know that when you get home your mom won't be there."

"What do you mean? Did she have an accident?" I breathed

"No, nothing like that," he took a deep breath. "your mom left us this morning."

"What? Why?" I asked in disbelief, my parents were the perfect couple. They agreed on everything so they never fought nor argued.

"She made me choose. I had to kick you out or she would leave me." He sighed. "I tried to change her mind, to give you another chance, but she wouldn't listen."

I felt a tear escape my eye. "What?" I said with a soft voice. "She left you because of me?" By now more tears where falling down my cheeks. "I'm so so sorry Dad." I knew I shouldn't have fought with her that much, but somehow she was always pushing my buttons.

"Don't blame it all on yourself, dear. It wasn't fair of your mom to make me choose between the two of you." He swallowed. "She was no saint."

"Dad, don't you get it. It is my fault. If I hadn't...." I sobbed. God what have I done. "I ruined it! I ruined it all. I'm so sorry dad."

"Troian, know that I will always be by your side. It will be okay, eventually."

I heard a voice in the background yell. "How could you tell her it will be okay. Everything will be different, more difficult and it's all her fault. I hate her, I hate her, I hate her!"

"Jolie. Go to your room. We'll talk about this later, okay? First, I'm going to talk to your sister." My dad said softly trying not to make her even angrier.

"No dad, she's right. This is all my fault. I'm sorry." With that I hung up. Why do I mess everything up? Why? I need to set this straight.

"Troian, are you coming or what?" Eva yelled waving at me from out of the pool.

"Yes, one more moment." I said trying to sound as strong as possible. Eva bought it, but if she would've listened closely she could have heard the cracks in my voice.

I dialed my mothers number while blinking away my tears. It rang three times before I heard her familiar voice snap. "What do you need?"

I took a big breath and said: "Mom, dad just called me to let me in on the situation and I just want you to know that you are making a big mistake. Dad is the best thing that has ever happened to you. You can go back to that house because... well, I'm not going to. If you never want to see me again, that's okay. I don't really want to see you anymore too, but I know Jolie and dad have different opinions on that matter." I know that must sound like I'm really strong, but from the inside I'm torn into a million pieces.

"You little brat." She growled. "You think you can tell me what to do?! Ha, I won't listen to you, you stupid little cunt. You are just another useless child who thinks she's so goddamn important and smart. Well guess what Barbie, you're not. So go suck a dick and try to get some money for it, selling your body is probably the only way that you will ever earn a goddamn living ."

I gasped. "I don't see me sucking dicks, I wouldn't want to be like you."

I could hear the rage in my mother's voice when she said: "I don't ever want to see you again, you little cunt. And if I do it will be the last time anyone will ever see you breathing." With that she broke the connection.

I threw my phone on the table grabbed my clothes and took a last glance at my friends before walking away, away from the rental villa to god knows where. I didn't care where I would end up, as long as it's not here.

I walked out of the street knowing that if I wouldn't get far in the next 10 minutes my friends would probably find me in no time, I can’t bother to be social right now, I just need some time to process all of this. I took a turn left and from that moment I just walked around not knowing which turns I took. I felt empty in both my heart and head.

After a while I ended up at the beach. I took place on a bench going over the terrible events of this day.

"Are you okay?" Someone with a male voice asked me. I didn't bother looking up. "I've been sitting next to you for quite a while and you've been staring at the sea for like 99,4% of the time." I stayed quiet once again. "Did you even notice it got dark?" I frowned, I didn't notice the dark until now. "Well, you know now." He chuckled.

I looked up curious about who was talking to me. "Wow, this was the first time you moved in the past two hours." He grinned. "Congratulations!"

I ignored this joke. "Do you have the time?"

"Yeah. It's..." He said as he grabbed his phone. "9:40 PM." I must have looked surprised as the boy followed his statement with: "Do you have somewhere you need to be?"

I looked back at the sea and whispered: "No, I don't need to be anywhere." And just soft enough so he wouldn't hear. "I don't even know where I should go."

"Hey love, I don't want to be some annoying guy that won't shut up, but are you sure you are okay? Not to sound creepy, but I did notice some tears in these past few hours."

I know this boy was trying to be nice, but all I could think about was that I ruined a perfectly fine family and that I'm not worthy of life at the moment. Another tear ran down my face. "Yes." I softly whispered while getting up and running away. I could hear the boy get up too.

"Wait." He called, "I didn't catch your name."

I felt no desire to talk so I stopped running and with my foot I wrote something in the sand: "Troian".
