Calla Lily Tullier currently lives in a false reality, created by her soul mate, Torrin, so they could escape from the cruel society that they were born in. Once they find each other in the new world that they've created, they know that they will be happy.
But when the machine suddenly fails, Calla and Torrin are abruptly thrown back into the real world...only to find that every piece of their old lives is gone.

2. First

Step, step, turn.

    Step, step, turn.

“You are a very smooth dancer, Calla.”

    “Thank you, Killian.”

    Step, step, turn.

“You know, you have, the most beautiful green eyes. In fact, I might dare to say that they are the most beautiful eyes in all of Faylen.”

    “Whoah! You okay? You stumbled.”

Your eyes aren’t brown, they’re blue, they’re wrong

    Where are the brown eyes?

“I’m fine. I should probably sit for a bit, though. I’m feeling a little dizzy.”

Mother stops me as I leave the ballroom. “Calla, dear, have you decided on your dress color for the Dance yet?”

I shake my head. “Not yet, Mother. I’m torn between green and silver.”

    “Well, why not do both?”

A beatiful gown of soft flowing fabric, forest green shot through with silver, ethereal.

I smile. “That is an excellent idea, Mother. Thank you.”

"Of course it's an excellent idea, Calla. You're forgetting that I was a seamstress's child."

"I haven't forgotten, Mother. If you'll excuse me, I wish to go lie down. I'm not feeling well."

Mother rests a hand on my forehead. "Not feeling well? Oh, well, then, go on and rest. Don't forget we're having dinner with the Lillaens at seven tonight."

"I know, Mother."

"Wear your pink pearl gown."

     "Yes, Mother."

She sighs. "Alright, go on and lie down now."

"Calla! You won't believe what's flying around the grapevine!"

I can't help smiling at Pepper's enthusiasm. "What, Pepper?"

Smoothing her hands over her servant's apron, Pepper exclaims, "Cook is having a baby!"

"What?! Who's baby is it?"

"No one knows for sure. Most are saying Sir Ferrell."

I shake my head. "Well, I guess I'll have to go talk to Cook later, then. But right now..."

       "Hot bath, Calla?"

I smile. "You know me far too well, Pepper."

    “Lavender scent mix?”

“Sounds like a piece of the Starlife.”

    “Torrin, we’ll get in trouble.”

“Aw, come on, Calla. No one’s here. We’ll be fine. C’mon.”

I slide into the steaming pool, into Torrin’s arms. He brushes a kiss against my cheek. “Hey there, flower.”

I bolt up, and a wave of scented water splashes against Pepper’s dress.

“Pepper! Oh, I’m so sorry, I got you wet!”

“Calla, the dinner with the Lillaens is in an hour, you need to get ready!”
