They got to the ward to find Travis waiting outside.’

“Your father is awake he said; they are removing the breathing tube now.’

“Thank God said Rosina crossing herself.’

“Look Travis here is the key to my room get whatever you need; I will see you later alright?’

Travis took the car keys and the hotel pass key. He kissed Dawn and told her that he loved her.’

Travis drove around York first and picked up Jeans, tee shirts, and underwear for both Dawn and Rosina who were more or less the same size. He bought himself four tee shirts and some boxer shorts and clean socks then drove back to the hotel and left them in his room before going down to lunch. He had two cups of coffee after his chicken supreme sandwiches and a banana.

He went to the room and rang the hospital to ask if there was any change where they told him that Jim was now sitting up and that he had eaten some soup.’

Dawn and Rosina chatted away quietly to Jim as he asked when they were going to let him home.’

“Not for a while daddy you are not strong enough to travel yet.’

“But I need to be home princess I have a song to finish that I wrote for you.’

“What’s it called?’

“Just For a Little While”

“It’s got this great melody that I laid down for you.’

“I’m sure we can work on it when you come home dad.’

The alcohol withdrawal sent Jim into a seizure; Dawn shouted for the nurse who came with the doctor as they held him down. “You will have to go into the waiting room said the nurse as her father began to convulse.

The doctor administered a sedative and Jim began to come out of the seizure and relaxed. Jim slept for six hours but they now had placed a morphine drip in his arm.’

He was very weak and hardly spoke a word.’

Rosina listened to his laboured breathing.’

They stayed on until seven o’clock then decided to go back to the hotel. Travis was waiting when they got there and asked if he should go and sit with Dawns father.’

“Yes darlin’

“Do you love me?’

“You know that I love you honey, you are the most important thing in the world to me right now.’

“Then will you marry me?’

“Yes he smiled,’ then kissed her tenderly.’ Of Course I will marry you but when?’

“I want you to ring your parents and get them all here by tomorrow afternoon. I will ring Gordon and Tracey now. I am going to organise the vicar to come to the hospital and we will take our vows there with the family around me and my father.’

Travis ran to the telephone; he rang his parents to tell them the news and that a special plane would fly them direct. “Bring me a wedding suit and a nice wedding dress for Dawn would you mom.’ I am going to get the rings now, I will see you soon bye.’

Dawn rang the local vicar David McCubbin. Who said that he would be honoured to marry them both? The wedding would take place at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
