Twisted Logic

A collection of poetry about the twisted logic of the modern-day world.

7. The Screen

Their eyes are on the screen,

But their hearts are no where to be seen.

They see text, informing of death,

But they only wonder what's coming up next.

They are shown infants, possible brothers or sisters,

But their money is so precious there conscience speaks in whispers.

Even footage of hearts failing sometimes is shown,

But this is not enough for them to pick up a phone.

So a new tactic is tried, to make them laugh,

And they do laugh, but with half a heart.

A total pops up, it is all too high,

They see it as enough, a donation flies by.

The power of the screen,

Is not what it could be, or has been.
