Brat Facts

I come from this close-knit family of Brats.
Military Brats, that is.

We go through all of the horrors a military family entails. We face the hardships of our parent being gone for many months at a time and having to learn how to be strong without them.
Sometimes. . . It's a nightmare.

But despite all of the troubled skies that we most often have to face, I know I wouldn't trade this life for anything.

17. Another Introduction

My name is Atla.

I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. My family was stationed at Barksdale, Air Force Base(also known as Barkatraz). After that, we moved. At first, I thought it was just a one time thing.

I was wrong.

I moved across the pond to England. Lakenheath, Air Force Base to be exact. We stayed there for four years, got a cat out of it and some other stuff.

Then we moved.

This time it was to the sunny coast of Biloxi, Mississippi, and into our new home on Keesler, Air Force Base.

I lived there for 7 years.

I felt like I was going to finish my school and what not there.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought that.

But, we moved once again; not to an Air Force installation this time, but to an Army installation.

At first I hated it, but then I began to love it. I made friends, found my wonderful little sister there, and the love of my life.

But like most good things, they come to an end. We eventually got orders to Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico.

At first, I wanted to leave there. Then I made some friends, found my people, and found my theatre family.

I would never give up this life--never in a million years. I would marry a man in the military just to continue this life. {Same though. -Kay}

My father has proudly served this country and he's been in for almost 21 years.

Welcome to my hellish life as a Brat.
