“Why asked Margaret?’

“Because your mother has just agreed to be my wife,’

“Does this mean I get to wear a bridesmaid dress?’

“It sure does sweetheart said her mother.’

“Will Alan come to live with us in our house asked Tom?’

“The house is mine anyway said Alan so now your mother will not be paying rent.’

“I think your mother is going to be one well off lady; I will sell the apartment or even let it out which will bring in a steady income. Then we will modernise the house a little so that we can all live together as a family.’

“Do we have to call you dad asked Tom?’

“No; you already have a father; I am not trying to replace him I just want us all to live together as one.’

“So will Cynthia become my Grandma?’

“Would you like her to be Margaret?’

“Yes I would and I would like my friend Katie to come and stay over at weekends.’

“I’m sure we can arrange that. Now; I have only one rule and it is this.’

“No matter where we are or what we are doing on Friday evenings we all gather around this table and we discuss any problems that we have okay? Then we all go out to dinner as a family. No one will be left out in my house because I believe that a good ship is a happy ship agreed?

“Agreed they all replied.’

“Right then finish your drinks and let’s get some presents.’
