could see other climbers coming up and they took pictures of those too. Looking around they could see Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man.

“Isn’t this beautiful said Brenda?’

“It certainly is answered Roger.’

They stood at the summit where Roger set up the camera again and they all got into the shot.’

That’s definitely one for the album said Ann.

“What about Blencathra and Helvellyn. “ I have plenty of photos don’t worry.’

This is a good camera.’

They drank some water and ate a sandwich that Brenda had made then it was time to leave. They had to travel North West to Lingmell. Taking the Corridor Route the descent was rapid. “Where are we now Ronnie asked Roger?’

“Not far from Wasdale.’

“Where do we go from there?’

“Sty Head Pass. They had one last look at the mountain at Styhead Tarn before making their way further down to Stockley Bridge and a gentle stroll back to Seathwaith.

When they finally made the end of the climb they reflected on the three days.

“That’s got to be the hardest bloody thing that I’ve ever done in my life said Ann with a grin.

I don’t know about that said Ronnie last night in that tent must have come close.’

Ann punched him on the shoulder playfully as they then looked for the bus Stop that would take them back home. Brenda checked the timetable which told them that the next bus wasn’t until six o’clock. “We’ve got two hours to kill said Ann lets find a pub.’

The Blacksmiths arms was a welcoming sight and they all took off their rucksacks and sat down.

Ronnie went to the bar and got the drinks this time where the barman asked if they had enjoyed the climb. Ronnie went on to tell them that they had done the three peaks over that weekend.

“So this was your first time then said Stan Chambers who had been the pub owner for over fifty years.’

“Aye it was.’

“Well you could have chosen some easier peaks to climb.’

“I know that, but we are training to be Royal Marine Commandos,’

“Have you signed up yet then?’

“No not yet we erm… we are going to later next year’ we want to get fit first.’
