13. Chapter Thirteen

Natalia's POV

"Jason, no." I laughed, as I untangled my legs from his. "Give me it." I laughed, trying to reach for my phone.

"Oh, this? Do you want this? Or... this." He smirked, running his free hand down his body.

"No, I want my phone," I replied, jumping up.

"Come on, a little higher."

"Jason, please?"

"Since you said please... No." He looked up to my phone, "oh, you got a text."

"Your mom texted you. She said... Aunt Mace is still sick, Uncle Cile is coming home to get Gram, and bringing her here. The baby may be born here." I stopped trying to get my phone, but my hands on my lap and sat on the bed.

"Hey, don't be so sad."

"How can I not be sad? My mom just told me she could have my own brother in California."

"But there's good things out of it."

"Like what?"

"Like, coming to live with us. Making new friends. Living a life without worrying what your mom is going to say. Dating me."

I smiled, "you're right."

"Jason, Talia! Time for school!" Mrs. Summers yelled. "And Talia, wake up your sister!"

"Time for school." I rubbed my palms on my jeans. There's never a day I go to school not feeling nervous butterflies in the pit of my stomach. "Let's go."

"I'll grab your bag and your bread and you wake up Macey?"

"Sounds perfect."

"Mace," I whispered, shaking her. She groaned. "Come on, you have to wake up. You have school."

"I'm up."

"Be good for Mrs. Summers, okay?" She nodded and sat up. "Have a good day today, okay?"

"You're walking in with me?" I asked as Jason opened my door. "Of course. You're my girlfriend now." He replied, helping me out of the car. "Wow, what a gentleman today." I laughed. He rolled my eyes and walked with me.

"Lia!" Amber yelled. I stopped walking and turned around. "There you are. I went to your house and knocked. No one answered. I got worried."

"Oh... Jason picked me up already."

"So, Leo wants to know if you're coming over soon with Mace."

"Why?" I could feel my feet dragging across the sidewalk

"Because someone has a crush on little Grey."

I walked to my locker and pushed my glasses up my face. "I don't understand you sometimes." Amber sighed.

"What do you mean?"

"You have contacts but you don't wear them." Here we go again. Every time Amber sees me wearing my glasses, she gets mad at me because I rarely ever wear them. It's not that I can't wear them, it's just I don't have time to put them in every single morning.

"I gotta get to class. I have a project to do and I promised my mom I wouldn't fail." Amber said. She put her books down in my locker and grabbed the ones she needed for this class.

"Okay, so, lunch today, right?"

"Of course. I'll see you in the cafe. Text me." I nodded.

A hand touched the side of my waist, making me look behind me to see the intruder. "Don't you have to go to class?" I asked once Jason came up next to me. He took his hand off my waist and propped it on the locker next to mine.

"Baby, I'm a tough guy. I can handle some dumb teacher." I rolled my eyes and closed my locker.

"Talia, are you taking a dance class?" One of my semi-good friends, Charlotte asked as she approached Jason and me.

"Me?" She nodded. "No, why?"

"For prom. I heard Dillon Harris wants to ask you."

"Dillon Harris? That little nerdy kid?" Jason asked.

"Yeah. He's been obsessed with me ever since seventh grade."

"That's because you two dated for like a month." Charlotte chimed.

"You dated him?"

"She dated a few people," Charlotte smirked, bumping into my side. A couple boyfriends and flings here and there, but not a few people. But after my dad died, that all changed, I didn't have time for a social life, let alone a boyfriend.

"I don't like that he's obsessed with you," Jason whispered.

"Go to class." I laughed.

"I'm serious."

"And so am I. Go to class Jason." He groaned, and kissed my cheek.

"See you at lunch? Nick and Jackson are going to sit with us today."

"Okay. Please, don't skip classes?"

"Just for you beautiful."

"Okay, what's going on?" Amber asked as I walked past her class.

"I thought you needed to do a project?"

"He's not here. Tell me what's going on."

What do you mean?"

"What do I mean? I mean with you an Jason. Him walking you to class. You two being all... Mushy"

"You can't tell anyone. I mean no one." She nodded. "We're kinda sorta dating," I replied.

Her jaw dropped, "you're what!" I looked around the hallway, a couple eyes were focused on us, but others were minding their own business.

"Would you be quiet."

"You, Natalia Grey is dating bad boy Jason Summers?" She whispered. I nodded.

Jason's POV

I smiled, as my teacher talked about the lesson. Talia truly cares, she cares so much that she doesn't want me to be late to class. Nothing could ruin this moment.

"Who's phone is going off?" The girl next to me asked. I looked at mine and sighed.

"Mom, I'm in class," I whispered into the phone.

"Jason." My mom whispered. I stood up, with my phone in my hand, and grabbed my things.

"Mr. Summers, where do you think you're going?" Dr. Daley asked. I blew him off and walked out the door.

"Mom, what's going on?"

"We have a problem. I feel light headed."

"Mom lay down on the couch, and calm down."

"No, no. It's a big problem. One you won't like. I told him not to contact me."

"Mom, what are you talking about?"

"Jason your father is back, and he wants to see you."

"I don't want to see that man another day of my life. And you can tell him that." I threw my phone across the hall and slammed my fist into the locker behind me. The one person who has hurt me so much is back and wants to meet me. He didn't want to meet me when I was six. He didn't care about me when I was little. He didn't care about anything when I was little. All he cared about was himself. Himself and his ego.

I left my phone, broken in the hallway, as I walked down the hall. I passed Talia's classroom, Jackson's class, Nick's class, everyone's class, and went right into the library. The library is where everyone goes to get away. Where everyone goes to hurt, cry, make out, anything you name, it's happened in there.

Natalia's POV

I looked both ways down the hallway looking for Jason. He always comes to my locker at the end of second period for lunch, no matter what. But today, he's not. He's no where to be seen. Maybe something happened? Maybe he went home early because he was sick?

I walked to the cafeteria, with my head turning side to side. "Where's Jason?" Jackson asked, walking up to me.

"Um... I'm not sure. I thought you would know."

"He never told me anything. Did you try calling him?" I shook my head and watched as Jackson pulled his phone out. "Right to voicemail. It never goes to voicemail."

"Okay, something is wrong. Come with me."

"What are we looking for?"

"I don't know. Something."

"Why do I have to help?"

"Because you're actually nice."

"Now I have to be mean to you."

"You've done enough of that when we dated."

"Hey." He said, taking my arm in his.

"Jackson." I sighed.

"I'm sorry for everything I've done when we dated, alright? I thought you would've left it alone."

"Left it alone? You ruined me, Jackson. You spread rumors around, you told people I was gay. You told people I was perfect. You made me seem like the best person in the world, even though I wasn't. You're the reason I was away for so long."

"Please, just forgive me? You're dating my best friend now and I don't want us to be on bad terms."

"Look, I never got over it, but I did move past it. Because I'm a nice person and because you are Jason's best friend, I don't want to hold a huge grudge on you. So that being said, I forgive you." He nodded and continued looking for something, anything.

"Hey, Natalia?" I followed his gaze to the floor. "I found his phone."

"That's his phone?" He nodded.

"I think I know where he is."

"Now, don't get mad."

"Jackson, where is he?"

"Library." What's so wrong about Jason going to the library, beside him never going there? Oh, wait.

"Natalia, before you go in there... you have to promise me not to get mad. Sophia texted me and said he was in here."

"I don't care who is in with him. I just want to make sure he's okay."

"Jason?" I never thought Jason has even stepped foot in this library, but I guess there are such things as miracles. Just like him not sleeping with a girl while we're dating. Now that's what I call a miracle.

"You can leave now, you're position here is unwanted."

"I was just keeping him company, calm down." Sophia James, Jason's ex-girlfriend. Actually, everyone's ex-girlfriend. Let's just say she gets around pretty well.

"Well, your keeping company and my keeping company are two totally different things."

Once Sophia left, Jason put his head on my lap. "Are you okay?" I asked, running my hand through his greased hair.

"Want to talk about it?"

"Not really."

"Can you talk about it with me? Give me the gist?"

"Fine, you want to know?" I nodded. "My dad is back, Talia. And he wants to see me." He replied.
