6. Chapter Six

Natalia's POV

"Good morning Talia," Mrs. Summers smiled. She hesitated, as if she didn't know what to say next, "I don't know if you eat breakfast or not, so I just threw together some things."

"I usually just take some bread and get ready."

"I wish Jason was that easy. He expects a gourmet meal every morning."

"Oh, yeah about that," I took a drink from my cup of orange juice, "I think I'll walk to school."

"Why? Jase drives."

"I know, it's just I like to walk sometimes." And I don't want to have to jump out of a moving car at the corner of the school, which is about ten minutes away.

"Alright then. But you're more than welcome to go with Jase."

"I know. Thank you." I grabbed my bag off the back of the chair.

"Where are you going?"

"Oh, since I'm walking," I slipped my fingers into my shoes, struggling to get them on, "I need to get a head start."

"Oh, right, well, be careful, alright?"

I walked to my house and smiled as Amber showed up. "Where's your mom's car? It's only Zac's."

"I know. Mom's car is in the shop." I threw my bag in the backseat of her Volkswagen Bug and sat in her passenger side seat.

Jason's POV

I slammed my car door shut and stomped into school. She was supposed to come to school with me. Not walk, she's probably not even here. At least I thought she wasn't here until I saw Amber and Talia getting out of a car. Ambers car. Of course. She didn't want to drive with me. Why am I so mad about this? This is a good thing.

Amber leaned to Talia, and she looked at me. "Let's go." She said loud enough for me to hear her. I continued to walk behind him, eyeing both the girls down.

"Summers, there's a huge party tonight. You coming?" Micah, one of the main men on the football team asked.

Yeah man. Wouldn't miss a party."

"Good, cause I heard there's going to be some... you know what."

Talia and Amber started to walk away, just as Micah was about to speak again. "I'll be there Mic. I have to go." I clapped his shoulder and went on my way to find the one person who knows how to piss me off at seven in the morning.

"Grey, we need to talk," she continued to walk, "hey when I'm talking to you, you listen."

"Am, you go ahead. I'll meet up with you later." Her best friend nodded.

"What, Jason." I looked around and pulled her into the first janitors closet closest to the main entrance of the school.

"What the hell Jason! You can't just drag people into closets."

"Would you shut up for once? I'm trying to talk to you," She rolled her eyes. "stop rolling your eyes. It's so annoying," she rolled her eyes again,"okay, why did you ride with Amber this morning? We're living together right now, and I can drive you."

"Because I don't want a dick driving me to school." Ouch.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I'm not a dick."

"Really? Because last time I checked, you told me I have to run out of your car, let's see, what else? Oh, that I  can't go into your mom's room. Oh, and wait, I have to stay in my room when you have people over. That, to me, sounds like a dick."

"And telling me I can't talk to your sister was a bitch move."

"That was me firing back at you. You can give me rules but I can't give you any? That's not how I work."

"I can give you a ride home. My car is right out front towards the side lot."

"Yeah, well, I don't know what I have to do after school." She pushed my shoulder out of her way and walked out of the closet. Jason, what're you doing?

Natalia's POV

"What was the thing with Jason about this morning?" Amber asked.

"Him just being himself." If I told anyone I'm living with the Summers right now, I would be the talk of the school. Girls would tell me to leave him alone, guys would be all over me, there would be rumors all over the place. And I don't need to deal with that.

Picking apart her sandwich, Amber asked another question, "what did he want to talk to you about?"

"Um, just to stop looking at him when he's making out with Sophia."

"Ah, someone's got a crush on the bad boy."

"Am, shut up, do you want the whole school to find out?" She raised her arms in defense before picking more of her sandwich. "Speak of the devil," I whispered. She turned around and took in the same view as I did. Jason walked in with his friend group. And his arm around Sophia.

"Are you even going to eat your salad?" Amber asked.

I pushed the plastic bowl away. "no. Not hungry."

"You're letting that whole salad go to waste?"

"Unless you want it." She shook her head. I got up from my seat, only to have the guys behind me start laughing. I turned to them. "What?"

"Nothing." I rolled my eyes.

"Talia," Amber whispered. I looked at her. "You have... um... you have blood on your pants."

"What? No, that's not possible. It's not the time for me."

"Well, you got it. All over." My face turned beat red now realizing why the boys behind me were laughing.

"Hey, Talia, you got a little spot on your pants. Might want to cover that up." Sophia laughed. She walked casually to me, but my eyes stayed focused on the side she had in her left hand. Once she was close enough to me, she tipped her hand over, making her cheese fries fall right in the middle of my shirt. Since when did this become a High School Musical scene? Why am I feeling with Sharpay Evens?

"What the hell!"

"Next time, don't say things about me and Jason together. And keep that friend of yours away from me." She walked away from the scene she just made, and all eyes were on me, even Jason's. I ran out of the cafeteria as fast as I could. Jason acted so nice before, and now, he's the exact same way as before. He just watched it happen. Who am I kidding? Jason Summers couldn't be nice to anyone, even if someone paid him a million dollars.

"Talia." Amber rushed into the bathroom.

"It's all over. And the fries. Am, my necklace. It's all over my necklace." I panicked.

"Okay. Calm down. It'll wash right off."

"No... it's my dad's ring. Amber, If I wash it off, the color will peel."

"Okay, take the necklace off," she hesitated before shaking her head, "here, take my pants. I have shorts in my bag. And take this shirt." She said, unbuttoning her jeans. I took my pants off and put hers on. Since I'm skinnier than she is, her pants didn't fit the best way, and neither did her shirt. She has a bigger chest than I do, which resulted in a shirt falling off of me all day.

I turned the corner to my street, and there was Jason, waiting for me. I took a deep intake of breath, not wanting to deal with him right now. Not wanting to deal with anything right now, really. I walked up to his steps, ignoring his calls for me. "Talia."

"Yo, Grey."

"What. What can you possibly want from me?"

"What's up with the bitchy attitude?"

"Bitchy attitude," I breathed out a laugh before moving my hair to the other side of my neck, "I don't know if you noticed, I had blood on my pants, so I thought, turns out it was just ketchup. Then, your girlfriend threw her french fries all over myself, and my one necklace. So let's just say my bitchy attitude it based on my day." I continued my way into the house with my messy hair and foreign clothes that belonged to my best friend.
