48. Chapter Forty Eight

Natalia's POV

"Hey, Talia," Bria said, closing my bedroom door.

"What are you doing here?"

"Well, J-"

"he called you didn't he?"

"He did. And the whole family is pissed at him, I swear. But he didn't tell me to come here. I came here on my own."

"Why? Why didn't you go to his house? He is family."

"He is, but so are you. Whether you like it or not, my whole family loves you. And honestly, I do too. So, I came here to cheer you up."

"There's nothing to cheer, Bria. Everything inside of me is.... Dark and broken. There's no light left over. He took it all, and burned the hell out of it."

"Talia, what Jason did was horrible. But everyone makes mistakes and his was a mistake. He told me the story, a-"

"I don't want to hear the story. I don't need to. Whether he was drunk, high, whatever, he still cheated on me, and that's final. There's nothing to talk about." She nodded and sat on my bed.

"Jackson got a nice beating out of him."

"That's nice,"

"Talia, it's been two weeks. Don't you want to get out, and do something?"

"Like what? Everything I do reminds me of him."

"Starbucks." I huffed. "Come on, I'll pay."

"I can't, I'm sorry," I said, laying the opposite way. She sighed and put her hand on my back.

"It's fine. I know you loved him a lot. I'll... Talk to you again, okay?" I didn't answer. Once she left, Zac came up to my room.

"He's at the door again."

"Let him stay there."

"Talia, I love you, but you need to let him explain."

"No. He can stay out there all day, and all night. But I won't talk to him."

"Alright." Jason has been sleeping outside of my house for the past week. And I mean, literally sleeping. He has a blanket, and he cuddles up into it, and sleeps on the porch, waiting for me to come outside. He's thrown things at my window trying to get my attention. He's sent people to my house to try to get me to go out. He even made Macey try to get me to take her to the park. But I can't go out. Now that it's almost the end of May and school ends in two weeks, my mom said I won't finish. I am able to stay home, for the next two weeks, and relax. Because I have the days, since I've never been absent to school, I actually have the time to stay home.

My phone vibrated next to me, and I groaned. Jackson has been trying to get ahold of me for the past week or so, trying to come over. But he can't. Because he'll bring Jason.

"What Jackson." I sighed, answering the phone.

"I'm coming up." He said, before hanging up. I covered myself with the covers, curled my feet up into a ball, and closed my eyes. He has Jason. I know it. I can feel it.

"Talia, I know you under there," Jackson said, pushing me. I held tightly onto the blanket and tried to make myself stay on the bed. But eventually, Jackson pushed too hard, and I went flying onto the floor. "Would you stop being a baby, and get up." Jackson hissed, trying the blanket off of me.

"I don't wanna see him! I don't want to!"

"Fine! Have it your way. But you haven't eaten in two weeks. You haven't seen the sunshine in weeks. You're going to die in here."

"Good! Relieve me of the pain! I'll die of a broken heart anyway." The door closed, and I heard was my breathing. I stayed on the ground but uncovered my head. I turned my head and noticed a pair of boots by the side of my bed.

"November you moved in with my mom and I. You were worn out jeans and a bright yellow shirt and your hair were back, showing your dad's ring. Your suitcase was bright pink, and you had no makeup on."

"Early December, I told you we were friends. You were wearing a tank top, and shorts. Because you were in your pajamas. You ran out of the house, and my mom made me chase after you. It was snowing, but you didn't care. I found you and told you to come back and live with us, and if you didn't like it, then you could go live with Amber. Then, I gave you my jacket."

"The end of December, I found out about you're eating. It was in the cafe at school, and Amber blurted it out. You went home, and your uncle packed your things from my place. My mom yelled at me, telling me to fix what I did. That was when I found you at the party. And took you home. That was when I had my first talk with your uncle. And when I told him I loved you."

"Also, January was the wedding. You were your hair curled and a blue short dress with my mom's necklace. You didn't wear your glasses, so you felt like you weren't yourself. It was the first night I ever danced with someone. And that was the night you let me take you away."

"In March, my mom died. And you were there for me every second. You held my hand when it was her funeral, you held me when I was crying, you stood up for me when I was down. You even moved in with me."

"In March, you brought me to your dad's grave and told me the story about him. About Macey. And about you. You told me how much you miss him, and how you wish he was here. You told me Macey leaves the light on in her room because she wants him to come home." I propped my head up on my hand and continued to listen to Jason as he spoke. I don't know where he is going with this, but right now, I just want to listen. Listen to his voice. This is the longest we've been broken up for, and I don't like it. Not one bit. But I can't survive in an unhealthy relationship, and I can't be the only one who's committed.

"In April, we went to prom. And your dress was all I could focus on. You wore a rose gold long dress, and your hair was pulled back, and your glasses were on because you knew I loved it when you wore your glasses. And we got prom king and queen, and we danced. It was the first time I ever danced in front of the whole school."

"In April of 2016, we went to the beach. And I found out my best friend was bullying you. You were wearing a silver bikini, which fit you perfectly, but you hated it. And I beat Nick up and choked him. Then, you let me take my anger out on you. And you let me hurt you. And you let me use you. And I hated myself for it."

"Also in April, you got to meet my whole family at Addison's birthday. And you got to share your stories and you smiled with my family. You wore a tank top and jeans, and you brought Macey and Zackary."

"Then, in May of 2016... I made the stupid mistake of meeting my dad at his apartment. And I made the stupid mistake to drink at the local bar, even though I'm not old enough. And I made the stupid mistake to go to the one person who I hate. But her house was close enough. And I was drunk. And I made the stupid mistake not to call my girlfriend because I was drunk and I didn't want her to worry. I made the stupid mistake to sleep at Sophia's house. And I made the stupid mistake of letting her take advantage of my drunk ass self on her couch. And I made the stupid mistake of letting her manipulate me into thinking she saved my ass at the bar before I got into a fight." He finished.

I wiped my tears and took a deep breath. "Talia, everything I do... I do for you. Not for me, not for my mom, not for Jackson. No one. I do it for you. I kissed you the night my mom was in the hospital because I wanted to. I let you see my weak side because I wanted you to see it." He said, walking to where I was laying down.

"You can't... Come in here and say all that and think everything is back to normal."

"I know. And that's why I have so much more to say to you." He replied, squatting down to me. He didn't move me. Didn't touch me. Didn't make me look at him. Because he knew I was listening.

"My only reputation is to keep you happy and smiling. I lost that reputation image when I started dating you, and I don't want it back. Because I just want to be able to see you smiling, and happy. That reputation is still deep down inside of me, but it's not coming out unless you want it to. Unless it has to. And baby, it hasn't come out yet. And it won't. Natalia, you have changed me over these months. I see the world differently, and I love how I see it. I don't see it as... Hooking up with girls every week, and getting drunk, and getting high, and coming home in the wee hours of the morning. I see it as waking up to the most beautiful girl every morning, and falling asleep next to her every night. I see it as... Getting to love you, every inch of you." He said. I closed my eyes.

"What you saw with Sophia two weeks ago... It wasn't what you thought. She told me she needed to rehearse something. So, I was playing her part. But she did take advantage of me. And I was drunk. And I let it happen. I didn't know what was going on. Your uncle beat me to. Jackson beat me up. Addison beat me up. Hell, my own uncle beat me up. And I took the beatings because I promised I wouldn't hurt you. But I did. And I hate myself every day for it. When I watched the video... I noticed it. And I noticed you were sad and gloomy. Just like you are now. And I don't want to see you hurt. Ever. Because it's the worst thing I ever saw. You should know by now that when someone I love gets hurt, especially by me, I beat them up. I beat myself up over this, Talia. Every single damn day. Not even physically. But mentally and emotionally.

"Natalia, I don't care what happens to us, if we break up, get back together, remain, friends, hell if we don't ever talk again. But nothing, as no one could ever take your spot. No one could ever get the love that I gave you. No matter what happens to us, I will never ever stop loving you. Even if we go our separate ways, and you marry someone else, I will still love you." I wiped my tears and turned to face him for the first time.

He leaned forward, and kissed my forehead, then got up. "I'll leave you alone to think about what you want. And when you're ready, call me."

"Wait." At this point, I was standing, and leaning against the bed frame. "Stay." His eyes widened. "Stay with me. Please."

"Okay." I laid down on my bed and watched as Jason sat on the bed slightly, then laid down. He didn't touch me, didn't move, didn't make any movement towards me, until I took his arm, and put it around my waist. The Sparks. The fireworks. The feelings. All still there. Maybe even stronger than before.

"I love you so much, Talia. I hate that I hurt you and I want to take it all back. I know you won't answer, but I just need you to know that." He whispered. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and nodded my head.

"I...Love you too." His brown eyes looked into my blue ones and just went back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth.

"I'm going to kiss you now." He whispered. I nodded and watched as he moved slowly towards me. And the biggest spark I've ever felt went off inside of me, bursting inside of me, like the grand finale. That's it. That just closed everything.
