Niall lost everything on horses. I was drawn into this because I was his girlfriend. We were going to lose everything, when he finally asked his best friend Harry Styles for help. Harry was rich and had everything that one could have. It was he who changed everything, but at the same time he just wanted to help, yet I was drawn into something that would be the end of everything I was used to know. I was stuck between two men.

13. Niall

Harry came out from the office and he was really serious. When he saw me, he stopped and I realized he hesitated over something. I sat and read a book, but now I could only stare at him. Something had happened? He cleared his throat a little and he frowned.
"Do you want to know?"
I nodded. I didn't want to imagine, I wanted to know. Harry came over to the sofa and he sat down on the table in front of me, with body against me.
"Niall have bet again and lost."
I lost my breath. No, he should stop, he said that he wouldn't do that again? Harry looked down at the floor and he seemed to hesitate again.
"He called and asked if he could get more money, so you wouldn't notice that he had bet." Harry looked up at me again. "I'll do it if you want, but it's up to you."
I felt how the hope disappeared. I felt the tears came and I sensed that this really was the end for me and Niall, and not because of Harry.

"No!" I whispered hoarsely. "I don't want you to give him more money."
Harry gulped and he saw at me that I was serious.
"You want me to help him get help with this addiction? I may be forced to send him to a place where they will help him."
I didn't know what to say. Harry seemed to sense that I was shocked or something. He took his hand through his hair and he looked straight at me.
"Honey, I will solve this for you!" he whispered a little uncertain. "I will arrange so that he get help."
I took a deep breath and I nodded. I wiped away the tears, and in fact, I began to realize the truth.
"I don't want to go home again!"
Harry held his breath and it was as if he didn't believe me.
"Do you mean, stay here?"
I sobbed and I nodded, before I could change my mind.
"Yes, I wanted to believe that Niall would end that life, but we'll only end up in chaos again. I can't go on to live that again."
Harry quickly took up arms and caught me up. He took me into his lap, so that one leg was on either side of his thigh, and he hugged me tightly. I took my arms around his neck and I didn't realize he was crying until the tears ran down on my neck.
"You're crying?"
He laughed a little bit.
"Yes, I'm happy." he whispered hoarsely. "I promise to help him and I promise to take care of you."
I smiled and I lifted my head. I looked straight into his eyes and I felt calm throughout the body, more calm than ever. Now I had made the choice and I was satisfied. I didn't want to come back to a life without money and with debts.
"So it's okay?"
He kissed me softly.
"Of course!" he whispered. "This was what I wanted. I want you with all my heart."

How does it feel to come home again? I was shaking all over. Harry held my hand tightly, and he had to almost pull me towards the entrance. Two guys followed us. He had called for two friends who could help me, both to get my things away, but also as protection if Niall would do anything against us.

I opened the door and the smell that came against me was total. It smelled like no one had opened a window in a long time and old food. I held my hand to my nose and went in, but it was close that I backed out again. Niall had let everything be. There were old clothes everywhere, old pizza boxes and beer cans. I realized that he hadn't even tried to have order in our home. I just wanted to cry. We came into the TV room and I noted that he had slept on the couch. There was a pillow and a blanket. The television was on and the windows were blocked with sheets. It smelled so much that even Harry hesitated.
"Uh, he haven't cleaned up?"
I frowned.
"I see that!"
The door opened from the bedroom and Niall appeared, or what once had been Niall. He had only an old pair of boxers on and he smelled alcohol. He wasn't sober. First Niall was as shocked as I was, and then he seemed to hesitate.
"I'd cleaned up if I'd known you were coming home." he whispered hoarsely, and he was ashamed. I swallowed.
"Niall, I won't come home."
What happened then was like one long fog. Niall cried, he screamed and he swung between anger and despair. It took him several hours before he realized that he couldn't stop me. I tried to gather my things, but I quickly realized that it was impossible. Niall tried to stop me all the time and then took one of the guys over, and held him. I chose to just bring with me what mattered. Photos, old stuff that I had inherited. I left all the furniture and I chose not to take my things from the kitchen. I didn't need that shit and I was sure that Niall needed it more than me. Harry chose to go to the bedroom and he picked up my clothes. I was ashamed over what he saw. My old clothes were anything but fancy. It was most worn underwear and old shirts. I went in to him, and I chose to do the right thing.
"Harry, I don't need the clothes."
He looked up from the box and he smiled at me.
"We can always wash them up and give them to those who don't have any clothes?"
My heart jumped. He had a big heart and I saw at him that he felt it was important. I got up a smile and I nodded.
"Okay, that sounds like a good idea."

"Please, Sara!"
I was on my way out when Niall one last time made an attempt. I spun around and I looked at him. He was anything but strong, but I realized that I couldn't cope with this, not everything as constantly happening around him.
"No!" I whispered quickly. "I don't want this any more, I can't take it. You had a chance to keep me but you didn't take that chance."
He sniffed.
"But you know what we always say? Money isn't everything, only we have each other?"
I had to laugh.
"Well, money's more important than you. You have gambled away my money before and it's happening again. I can't constantly save you from yourself or help you. Now you get to stand on your own feet."

As soon as we got home, I showered. The scents from the apartment were stuck on my clothes and I was just disgusted. Harry kept me company and we wash each other with soap. At first I was sad by what I had seen, but pretty soon I began to feel better.
"You haven't done anything wrong!" Harry said again and again to me. "He needs to grow up."
I nodded.
"And you'll send him so that he get help?"
Harry nodded and he kissed me lightly.
"I promise!"
