“How did you two meet then?’

She’s a social worker mam and we met we she came to tell me you were in here.’

“She loves fresh water fishing and I went with her to Ripon about three weeks ago.’

“We get on pretty good and she doesn’t mind that I work on the fish quay.’

“That is a bonus then.’

“Any girl has to be crazy going out with someone who stinks of fish and has sweaty feet and farts all the time laughed Sam.’

“Cheeky sod; I’ll kick you’re arse for ye when we get outside.’

“Now come on stop your fighting in here or they will keep you both in she laughed.’

The hour passed by so quickly and the Nurse came around to tell them that visiting was now over and they would have to leave.

“Ask Nancy to come in with you next week I would like to meet her.’

Alright I will.’

“Bye mam said Sam as he hugged his mother.’

“Tom gave his mother a peck on the cheek and then watched as they both got into the car. Nancy waved as she drove away.’

“How was she asked Nancy as they turned onto the motor way?’

“She looks a lot better than I’ve seen her for years.’

“Well she is going to need both your help and support when she comes home.’

“You will have to be vigilant and check everywhere and I mean in all the places where you would never think about looking.’ If you find any bottles discard them after emptying them first.’ “Do not put temptation in her way either the longer she stays away from alcohol the better her chances are of kicking the habit.

“I think a complete career change would help enormously.’

“Mam hasn’t got qualifications.’

“Well now is the time for her to get some and do something that she has always wanted to do.’

“I’m going to college when I leave school said Sam.’

“Really said Nancy; what are you going to study?’

“I want to be a chef and work in a top class Restaurant.’

“I am going to learn French because all the top class chefs are French most cooking terms are in French too.’

“I can help you a bit if you like Sam. “Can you speak French?’

“Je parle un peu.’ (I speak a little).

“Great when can we start?’

“You have already.’

“Okay, how do I ask your name in French?’

“Comment’ tu t’appelles?’

“What about, I want to cook you a fantastic meal?’

“Je tiens a vous faire cuire un repas fantastique.’

“Enough of this Frog language said Tom; who was getting bored with it all.’
