I rewrite Guardian dolls, so I am publishing ti seperatley. It is not a squeal.

1. Annoying Sisters

“Mom, do you know where my headphones are?” yelled Elizabeth.

“Don’t scream across the house sweetheart. They are where you last left them,” replied her mother.

“              Ugh!” grunted Elizabeth.

She searched through the red bucket where she kept all of her electronics. There were, chargers, phone cases, but no headphones. She looked on her wooden dresser where they were last. There was nothing except for her phone.

“Lily, did you take my headphones?”

“No. Well, I did, but then I gave them to Alexa,” replied Lily, ratting out her twin sister Alexa.

“You little brat! Alexandra! Hand them over.”

                “But… but,” whispered Alexa.

“I’m waiting. Hand them over, now!” screamed Elizabeth.

Alexa unplugged the pink headphones from her phone and handed them to Elizabeth not saying a word. She put her phone on her white night stand, next to her alarm clock. She watched Elizabeth walk out of the room. Alexa walked to the back of the room and  grabbed her favorite doll, Ginger, who has the curliest red hair she had ever seen, next to Shirley Temple. Alexa held Ginger gently and walked to the playroom. She entered the playroom to see Elizabeth watching a music video. Elizabeth looked up.

Elizabeth chuckled and said, “Alexandra you idiot! You are 8 and you still play with dolls. You’re such a baby!”

“Lily plays with dolls” cried Alexa. She hugged Ginger tighter.

“Yeah she ‘plays’ with dolls! You mean she has dolls. She isn’t as obsessive as you are!”

At this point tears poured out of Alexa’s big blue eyes. Her cheeks were bright red. She looked at the doll. She did not think that Ginger was babyish.. So, she smacked Elizabeth  in the face. Elizabeth started to cry.

“And I’m the baby,” said Alexa turning her back to Elizabeth.

Alexa ran out of the room. She knew she was in trouble. She ran down stairs gripping Ginger. While she was running, her pug-yorkie dog, Porkie, got in the way and she tripped over him. She fell on the ground. While Alexa was on the floor, Elizabeth came downstairs. She walked over crying Alexa.

“Ha-ha! You fell over a dog. Even a two year old wouldn’t do that,” said Elizabeth, “Oh, mom she hit me!”

Alexa stood up. She placed Ginger on the counter and faced her mom.

“Alexandra, young ladies do not hit other people! Where are your manners? You are to go to your room and stay there all night. And you will not be receiving supper. Do I make myself clear young lady?” screamed her mother.

                “Yes, mom,” replied Alexa.

Elizabeth sat on the living room couch giggling. Lily sat adjacent to her on the recliner. Alexa had her head down. She was starting to cry. Her mom was being so mean. Her mom looked at Alexa’s shoes.

“And you should not be wearing your play sneakers in the house. They are supposed to be in the mudroom. Now my house is dirty! There is mud marks all over my hardwood floors! Do you know how hard that is to clean? Do you want me to look like a pig?”

                “No mom.”

Alexa started to giggle inside, but she kept a straight face for her own sake. It was Alexa’s job to clean the floors anyway. And even if it was her mother’s job, it still would take at most 5 minutes to clean. Even so, she just looked at her feet, not moving a muscle. She knew her mother would find a problem with something she would do if she moved.

“Let’s go, Alexa! Now!  Put those shoes away and go to your room.”

Alexa kept her head down and walked to the mud room. She took off her purple sneakers and put them in her cubby next to her black boots. She did not see any dirt on the hardwood floors but she knew she must not complain. Her mother would find a speck of dirt and say it was from her shoes. She grabbed Ginger off of the counter. Elizabeth looked at Alexa with her devilish eyes while holding an ice pack on her cheek. She looked like she was about to attack. So, Alexa walked up the stairs to her and Lily’s room. Alexa walked into the room. She closed the door loudly behind her. She felt mad at everyone. She could not wait for her father to come home. He always brought home joy. She sat on her pink blankets. She placed Ginger on the bed across from her. Alexa smiled. She knew it was ridiculous, but it was fun to imagine.

“I hate my life! Why am I in trouble? It is not fair! I’m always the one in trouble, even when I don’t start it! I can’t wait to be older.” complained Alexa to her doll.

“Alexa life is not really that horrible, look at the kids in Africa.” said Ginger.

                Alexa jumped and looked at her doll. “Y... you… you... can’t talk…you’re . . . you’re... A doll!” screamed Alexa.

“Hi Alexa, I am your Guardian Doll, Ginger Prescott. I am here to help you come over some of the difficult problems you may face in your childhood. I will not be needed when you get older but for now I am here to help your every need. I just finished training right before you got me two months ago so I am a little unexperienced but please except me. Am I being too loud?” explained Ginger.

“You don’t worry. Mom will think I’m talking to myself. I guess my life isn’t that bad. I mean at least I have you.  Why does Elizabeth not like dolls?”

“Well, Elizabeth is a long story. Actually her doll, Lizzy, gave a speech at Guardian Doll University.”

                “Wait, you have a school?”

“Yep, we have our own university. As I was saying, Elizabeth and her doll had a bad connection. You see her doll was very experienced. She had already worked with two other children. We are here to help children make good decisions. When the owner disobeys us we walk away, for we feel not needed. Lizzy told Elizabeth not to go to a party at her friend’s house because she felt something bad would have.  Elizabeth said that the doll was S-T-U-P-I-D. She went to the party anyway. While she was at the party Elizabeth was pushed off of a trampoline and broke her arm. Lizzy felt as if she was no longer needed to help Elizabeth and went back to Dollanda. There she taught classes of how to control kids with big egos and bad attitudes. Elizabeth started to hate dolls because she left her.”

“I remember that day. She kept saying, if only I could find that stupid doll!.”

“Sweetie, please do not say S-T-U-P-I-D in front of the word doll.  She was very angry at Lizzy and the heads of Dollanda understood that but we could not risk Lizzy getting hurt. So, we kept her away from Elizabeth. We assume the Elizabeth does very much miss, Lizzy but it was for her own safety.”

                “Wait, Ssshhh!”

Their father opened the door. The girls ran to him. His clothes were very dirty from work. His hair was slicked back with gel. His green eyes twinkled.

“Hi honey. Aw there are my little princesses. Where is Alexandra?” asked  their dad.

                “She hit me!” screamed Elizabeth.

“She was being rude. What do you want for dinner?” said their mother.

“She has anger problems. You know that Elizabeth. You have to tell her that she is wrong not scream like you probably did. Why was she being sassy?” said their Dad.

“She rolled her eyes. What do you want for dinner. We just ate.”

“Come on, that’s not a big deal. So, I’m assuming she is in her room.”

“Yes, she went to bed with no dinner. Speaking of dinner, what do you want?”

“I’m going to talk to her in a bit. But, fist I have something to tell you girlies.”

Their dad sat on the couch with Lily on his lap and Elizabeth next to him. Their mother stood in the kitchen finishing making him a salad for dinner.

“My little princesses need to hear something. I will need to explain this to Alexa later. Girls as you know I am in the army. I have been departed to a base in Germany. This is very far from our home here in California. I will be leaving in two days. I am not 100 percent sure when I will return.” explained their dad.

“I’ll miss you daddy.” replied Elizabeth.

                “Me too,” said Lily.

It sounded if Lily was crying. Alexa knew that Elizabeth would probably be happy, because father was the only one that actually defended Alexa.
“Listen Alexa,” said Ginger,” I want you to know that if you have any problems you can tell me, ok? This is my job.”

“OK. I must go to bed before father comes up here. I want him to think I was sleeping and didn’t hear him.” said Alexa.

“Ok sweetheart, but do not forget to put your pajamas on. We do not want to crush your brand new skirt. Now do we?”

                “Ok, can you turn?”

Ginger turned her head towards the wall. Alexa went to her dresser and opened the draw. Then she picked out a blue night gown and put it on. She put her hair up in two pigtails, brushed them, and walked back towards her bed. She picked Ginger up and brought her to the doll bed across the room. She laid the 18 inch doll down and put the doll’s “blanket” on. She went back to her bed and laid down staring at Lily’s bunk above her.

“Ginger, what about Lily? Does she have a Guardian Doll?”

“Lily’s doll, Sarah, is still in college. I am pretty sure she is a senior. She will probably be here next year. I have met her already.  Most of the time, dolls that are going to the same house, meet to discuss how the household is doing and what needs to be changed. She was actually supposed to be yours. But, we decided to switch because you needed yours sooner than Lily did and I had already finished college.”

“Oh I have one more question, what about Elizabeth’s doll, Lizzy? Can she come back?.”

“Well she can come, but only in a tough situation that both me and Sarah can’t handle. But, I highly doubt that will happen.”

Alexa went to say something but she thought she heard a noise so she shut her mouth. She could hear her father coming towards her room.. Alexa pulled up the covers and shut her eyes tightly. The door opened and her father switched on the light. He looked at Alexa.

“Sweetie, are you up? I have to talk to you. I know you are mad at your mom, but she isn’t with me.”

Alexa stayed quiet. Her father came and sat on the edge of her bed and rubbed her head.

“Alexa, I know it’s hard. Your mom doesn’t understand.

Lily walked in, dressed in her pajamas. She climbed to the top bunk, and their father shut the light. He kissed Alexa’s fore head and left the room.

“Goodnight Alexa, I know you’re still awake, I could hear you talking to yourself.” whispered Lily.

“Goodnight Lily,” mumbled Alexa, before falling asleep.
