9. Secrets Revealed

Superquack, Morgan, and Strattogale looked over a cliff. Being fluent in bird, Strattogale had asked a bird for directions to Mr. Baby Tutu's fortress, and now the newly-formed trio were on their way to disarm the control center.

Superquack beckoned to the girls, and they jumped. They landed on top of a palm tree, where they watched a monopod streak across virtual train tracks through the jungle. Superquack took out both guards and threw them into the sea nearby. Then Strattogale and Morgan followed him in.

The pod zoomed toward the front gates. There the Supers climbed out, and Superquack threw the pod at the gate guards, pinning their unconscious forms to the ground. Strattogale and Morgan were about to run inside when Superquack noticed a guard walking through a series of open windows on the second floor of the base. No doubt he'll notice us and sound the alarm. Unless--

Before he could finish his thought, Strattogale hurled a stone at the guard. He lost his balance and fell out the window and to the ground. The guards at the door rushed over to see what happened.

Now! Superquack led the way to the steel, 20-foot door for the girls. Morgan banged on the door--and it opened. A repulsor-lift truck drove out, and Superquack rushed inside. Morgan and Strattogale were close behind. They rushed in through a doorway and stealthily wove through the halls, unnoticed.

As soon as they were deeper inside, Superquack told his friends to follow him. He knew where to go.

They did, and Superquack led them to the dining room, the place he knew had a secret passageway to more than a kitchen. Mr. Tutusymbol had told him a kitchen was behind the lava wall, but now he suspected it was another lie.

"Why are we in here?" Strattogale asked.

"I've been here before," Superquack replied, "and I noticed something fishy going on." But how to open the lava wall? Finally, he rushed toward a large stone statue...but struggled to lift it. Strattogale helped him. "Teamwork rules," sh said as they cocked it at the lava. They were about to run into the lava, using the statue as a shield, when the falls suddenly parted. They struggled to replace the enormous statue to its original position and duck behind it. Morgan followed them behind.

Mr. Tutusymbol stepped out from the lava and walked across the room. The falls began to close. Strattogale rushed in, and Superquack grabbed Morgan's arm as he followed her. Strattogale flew out, and Superquack jumped clear as the hot lava closed behind him. Morgan, again unscathed by the lava, followed them calmly.

A narrow series of floor lights led to an elaborate bench in front of an enormous computer screen. They walked to the bench and sat down. Ahead the screen asked for the password. Superquack and Morgan weren't sure what it was, but it was obvious to Strattogale. She typed "I LOVE TUTUS" into the controls.

It worked. The computer screen revealed a menu. It read:

ISLAND CONTROLS

MONEY SPENT

DINOBOT CREATION

MY EVIL PLAN

Superquack smiled as he clicked on MY EVIL PLAN. They had done it.

But none of them could ever have expected what they saw next. Mr. Baby Tutu's plan to unleash the Dinobot 5000 on the town flashed onto the screen, followed by the stats of all the Supers he'd lured to the island. They'd all been done in by the evil mastermind. He'd used them all as test subjects to perpect his Dinobot. Morgan put her face in her palm, and Superquack shook his head. Strattogale's jaw hung open.

The computer screen read: SUPER WHISK MAN: KILLED. UNIVERSAL MAN: KILLED. EVERSEER: KILLED. DINOBOT 1000: KILLED. PSYLANGE: KILLED. ROBIN: KILLED. SPIDERMAN: KILLED. MACROBURST: KILLED. DINOBOT 200: KILLED. STORMICIDE: KILLED. The list went on and on.

Finally, Superquack went to the search bar and typed in Morgan's name. Morgan watched as the screen read: MORGAN: KILLED. DINOBOT 4000: KILLED. DINOBOT 5000: ALIVE. Superquack typed in his own name, and the same stats appeared with his name.

Then the screen unfolded to reveal the plan behind the veil. The latest Dinobot was to be converted to a rocket and shipped off to Quackville where it would wreak havoc. There was also a similar plan to make the lions, tigers, and other beasts dance out of the jungle and eat unsuspecting victims! And it would all happen in 9 hours, 14 minutes, and 43 seconds. Oh no! thought Superquack as he turned to leave. Strattogale and Morgan did the same.

An alarm sounded, and the Supers stopped short. As the lights went on, turrets unfolded from the walls and shot medical darts right at them. The Supers tried to escape, but for each hit the painful darts scored the more tired they became. As the darts engulfed them, Morgan only saw one thing: the bottom half of Mr. Tutusymbol's body, walking toward them. They were caught!
