Music, Love, and Everything in Between

Michael and Samantha had been one of the best couples that you would ever meet. But once distance, and another player gets added onto the board, they are not so sure their relationship is as strong as they hoped.

1. 1

I'm lying in my bed, just waiting for him to walk through the front doors, but then again, it is almost one in the morning. I turn to lay on my stomach, and I rest my chin on the window sill staring out into the street lit by the outside house lights. I longingly look out the window, hoping that he would come home soon, he promised me he would be home late tonight and that I shouldn't stay up, but we both knew that wasn't going to happen. I haven't seen him in a while, but they are on tour after all. I stay there for a good 15 minutes when I start to doze off into a light sleep. Dreams of unicorns and sheep dance through my head, the slamming of a car door jolts me awake. I glanced out the window and saw my black haired dork exiting an airport car. My heart begins to race as I try to escape the sheets, who decided to never let me go. I thunder down the stairs, and clumsily open the door. I run out into the street in only my shorts with a buttoned up flannel that just might be his. He turns around and a smile lights up his face when he sees me, I have to admit, I'm just as happy. My arms wrap around his neck, and his go around my waist as he lifts me up with ease. My head his resting next to the top of his flannel shirt, and he smells like airport, but I don't care. I take in every second of the moment, thankful that my Michael came back safely.

I help bring in the bags, full of stuff that he always brings back. They get left in the middle of the front room, waiting for somebody to trip over them, and I head upstairs to hopefully fall back asleep. I'm already on the bed when Michael plops himself right next to me, and I cuddle up to him, burying my face into his shirt. His arm wraps around my shoulders, and he starts to run his fingers through my hair, pulling all of the curls until their straight, and watching them bounce back to where they were.

His bends his head down and kisses me on the top of my head as he says, “I missed you so much.” I look up to him and return the affection, “You have no idea.” I fell asleep first, my head resting on his chest, his fingers bouncing my curls. I’m not sure when he fell asleep, but I do know that he did.

We woke up snuggled in the same position, with the sound of a crow right outside the open window. I climb out of his embrace, walking to the window and I close it to remove the horrid sound that is the crow. As I meander to the bathroom, I look back and see Michael still in a deep sleep, I don’t blame him. Either extreme jet lag, that or he’s been touring, he has to be tired, I would be tired. I get ready for the day of doing nothing. Whenever Michael gets back from going somewhere, we always have a day designated to movies, food, and anything we feel like doing. I head downstairs of my condo and immediately turn on the T.V. I sit on the couch and browse the menu for a while. I finally came upon Lilo and Stitch, and made the very wise decision to start watching it. I totally forgot how awesome this movie was! Michael came down near the end of the movie. His hair was a mess, and he really needed to shave, but at least he woke up.

“I thought you would never climb out of that bed.” I say jokingly as he comes and sits next to me on the couch.

“Yeah, but how could I miss my day of relaxation?” He says smiling.

“Well, it is a day of doing nothing, so there really isn’t anything to miss.” I say

“And that is why we can’t miss it, because we already do nothing.” He says as he starts to watch the movie. Just a second after we resume the movie, the doorbell rings. He gets up to answer it, and all of a sudden I hear a very loud exchange of hellos. I turn to look to see who it is, and lo and behold, it’s Ashton. I don’t know who else I would have expected to ring the doorbell at nine in the morning. I leave my resting place to go and say hello to Ashton.

"Hi Ashton!" I say as we both go in for a hug, "It's so good to see you!"

"It's good to see you too Sam," he says as he hugs me back. My name is really Samantha, but everyone just started calling me Sam, and it kind of stuck. "Anyways, Luke, Calum, Mallory and I are going down to the beach, because we haven't seen the sea not through the windows of an airplane, and we were wondering if you would like to come with us?"

I look at Michael, and we both exchanged nods. I turn to Ashton and say, "Definitely, but which beach cause were not quite ready."

"The one right by Sydney, you know, the one we always go to." He says with the very dimply grin.

"We will be there as soon as we can." Michael says with his messy hair.

Ashton starts to walk down the path towards his car as he says, "Cool man, we'll see you in a little bit." He waves as he pulls out of my small driveway. Michael and I turn to each other, I look into his eyes as I bolt for the stairs. Realizing the competition, he chases after me. I am almost to the top when he grabs my waist and pulls me back to give himself a boost to the top. I make it to the top laughing and telling him he cheated. He gives me a quick peck on the cheek as he enters the bathroom to fix his hair. I disappear into my room to decide which swimsuit to wear. He walks out of the bathroom in his swim trunks and a tank top, sunglasses on his face. He walks downstairs to grab two towels and some sunscreen. I walk out of my bedroom, with my tie-dye sundress and my flowered tankini underneath. I head downstairs and immediately head to the fridge. I haven't eaten anything this morning, and neither has Michael, so I decide to take some ice cream for the drive. He comes out of the back holding two beach towels and thing of spray on sunscreen. I can't believe for just a second that he is mine, and I am his. I snap back into reality and ask if he is ready.

            "Ready," He responds.

"Who is going to drive?" I ask looking into his eyes. We set down everything that we are holding as we hash it out through a brutal round of rock-paper-scissors. I win, like I always do. Just before he heads out to the car, he kisses me. I don't know what it is about that kiss, maybe it was the first real kiss we've had since he's been back, but I know I will always remember it. I follow him out of the condo and we put our stuff into the backseat (except for the ice cream, which must be eaten). The drive takes a while, but the day is so nice. We are able to roll down the windows, letting the fresh Australian air into the car. The beach also looks amazing, the water was blue, the sand looked soft, and everything was perfect.

We first see Luke and Mallory sitting together, like a cute little couple. They have only been together since two months before the tour, but none the less they are still cute. Calum and Ashton are wrestling in the water, and it’s hard to see them, but I definitely know it was them.

The sand is burning hot, and I kind of regret my decision of leaving my flip flops in the car. Michael sees my feet burning and tells me to stop moving. I listen as I dance on my feet, he runs back to the car to retrieve my shoes. He comes back, flip flops in hand, but he doesn’t hand them to me. Instead he lifts me up and carries me, piggy back style, down the beach next to Luke and Mallory. He lays out a blanket that he found in the car, and instead of him gently setting me down, we both fall onto the blanket, laughing.

I slip my sundress off, and start lathering on the sunscreen, I burn way too easily. Michael helps me get my back. I don’t think anybody can put sunscreen on their own back without help. It’s so hot I desperately want to go into the water, but Michael needs some convincing to jump in with me.

I finally am able to get him into the water and I feel pretty accomplished. Splashing is required, and fun was had all around. I was able to get to know Mallory better, and all of the boys were just glad to be off tour. The sun was setting and everyone was tired and hungry. We went to a local restaurant and had some of the most amazing burgers that we have ever had. We were all walking to the front door, my hand held in Michaels when 30 or so girls swooped in and were all over the boys.
