8. Chapter 7

*A/N: This will most likely be very short because I just found out that a member of my family that I was very close to has passed away. I don't really feel like writing, but I felt bad leaving you guys hanging without an update for 2 weeks in a row. Sorry if this kinda sucks, like I said before, I don't have very much inspiration. I hope that you guys enjoy!*

Chapter 7

Never in all the eighteen years of my life did I ever think that I would be this happy to be told that I couldn't go home. Most people would think that it would be depressing to be completely shut off from your life, but it is very relaxing for me. To be told that I wouldn't have to suffer abuse from anyone was music to my ears.

"Cora....sweetie?" the nurse calls, bringing me back from my thoughts.

" what?" I stutter.

"I asked if you had somewhere to go. You grinned like a cheshire cat and then spaced out." she explains.

"Oh. Well..." I trail off.

To be completely honest, I had no where to go. I had no family. Well no one that cared enough anyway. I did have money saved away for the moment that I gathered enough courage to run away. Although, I had only started the stash a month ago and it would only last for a couple nights stay at a hotel. For the second time in my life, I didn't have anywhere to go. Nobody to turn to.

"Well, where is my dad staying?" I mutter.

"Sweetie, he's in jail. He'll have a trial soon. He isn't getting away with this. I won't let him." she smiles.

"Well then, to tell you the truth. No. I don't have anywhere to go." I murmur back.

"Oh, well I will go talk to some people and see what I can do for you sweetie." she answers.

"Okay." I sniffle, a few tears falling down my cheeks.

She softly closes the door and I can hear her shoes move away from the door.

"Why are you crying?" Zach asks.

"I don't know. I guess I'm just overjoyed. I don't ever have to see him again, Zach! He is gonna be put away and I can live my life peacefully!" I say, more tears escaping.

Zach takes a small step forward and engulfs me in a hug. I press my face into his shoulder breathing in his cologne.

"Even if he wasn't in jail, I would never allow you to go back to that house. I always want you to be safe and you won't ever-" he whispers, before getting interrupted.

The nurse pops her head in and smiles sadly at me.

"Unfortunately, Cora. I don't have anything that I can do. Since you are at the age of 18, no home is taking you into their programs and there is no one willing to take you in." she tells me, giving me a sympathetic look.

"But, I don't have anywhere to go. What am I supposed to do? Live on the corner of the street in a cardboard box? This is Arizona! I could die from heat exhaustion." I yell, throwing my hands up.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. I just don't have anything that I can do..." She replies.

I look over at Zach who looks deep in thought. He looks up and captures my eyes with his.

"You can stay with me." he says, breaking the silence.

"What?" I breathe, my mouth dropping open in shock.

"Yeah, you know how my mom is always complaining that we have way too much room around the house. She would love it!" he says, excitedly.

"Are you sure she would be okay with it?" I answer, cautiously.

"Of course! Come on! She loves you!!" he shouts, a grin lighting up his face.

I close my mouth and think for a second. How bad could it be? I know him well enough. I've been to his house before. Although, I haven't exactly seen the entire house. I glance over at Zach who is bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet like a little kid.

I sigh, taking a deep breath.
