Too Close to the Enemy

He thinks he's cool for breaking all those girl's hearts.

I won't be one of them

even if he's hard to resist...

22. Already?

Luke's POV:

The next morning, I woke up by Alexis' side. It'd been days since I slept alone at my house. I checked the time, which was 9am, and rubbed my eyes awake. It was Spring break, finally, which meant no school for two weeks. At last. I turned back to face Alex, who was still fast asleep. I took all of her flawless features in and smiled to myself, knowing she was mine. She seemed so peaceful and pure, no snores, just light, soft breaths. I loved her.

Ding, dong.

The house doorbell rang. I shot up, confused about who would be here at this hour. Alex slowly got up, noticing the doorbell. She turned to me, confused about why I was wide awake. She ignored it though, and quickly put on her robe, before heading downstairs. I followed behind her, holding her waist firmly as we got down the stairs.

Alex opened the door a little bit, and poked her head through the gap. I copied her actions and became a little angry for some reason.

The doctor, Richard Foster, was at the door, holding a suitcase and full of joy.

"Oh, um, Dr Foster." Alex greeted hesitantly. She opened the door wider, letting him in.

"Miss Brian, Mr Hemmings." He greeted back.

We both watched him as he set his suitcase to the side and became awkward of what to do.

"Would you like anything to eat or drink?" Alex hesitated. I swear I could feel her shaking a little.

"Oh no, that's fine, thanks. Have you just woken up?"

"Uh, yes, but it was no problem at all." She quickly replied. "Would you like to go to your room?"

"Yes, please."

"Alright." Alex guided him upstairs and to the room on the far right, it was two doors away from us.

"Thanks." He said, after being shown his room.

"Make yourself feel at home." Alex said, bringing up a smile to her face.

We walked back to her room, leaving Richard in his. Sitting on the bed, Alex and I stared into each other's eyes, blankly.

"I don't have a good feeling about him." I confessed quietly. Alex shook her head in agreement.

"I guess we'll have to live with it for a while."

After getting dressed, we joined Richard downstairs for breakfast. He insisted on making it, so we left him for it. After 20 minutes, the doctor had cooked us a stack of pancakes with maple syrup. Okay, on a positive note about him, they were delicious.

"Doctor, these are amazing!" Alex exclaimed.

"Why thank you Alexis, and please, call me Richard."

Suddenly, the door bell rang - again. This time, they were more hurried. I rushed to the door after telling Alex to leave it to me.

I opened the door to see an extremely jumpy Calum and an over excited Ashton and Michael.

"What happened?" I asked, confused. The boys came inside and faced me. The look of amazement never left their faces.

"WE'RE GOING ON TOUR WITH ONE DIRECTION!" Calum screamed, jumping higher than he's ever done.

What is he saying.

"What??!" I asked, flabbergasted at his words.

"WE ARE, WE ARE!" Michael confirmed me. By now, Alex and Richard had joined us.

"Did I just hear what I think you said?" Alex asked, joy raising in herself. We all nodded and she jumped up and down, just like Michael did.

The boys noticed Richard and calmed a little bit and became awkward.

"I'll be in the kitchen." Richard said, noticing their awkwardness.

"How?!" Alex asked the guys, after Richard went away.

"They saw our Teenage Dirtbag cover and loved it!" Ashton explained.

"Oh my gosh! This is so amazing! I'm so proud of you!" Alex repeated.

"GROUP HUG!" Calum shouted before we all gathered together in tears of happiness.

"When are you going?" Alexis asked quietly, hinting her sadness. I looked at the guys for an answer.

"Next week." Michael answered, quieter than Alexis. She stared at Michael in shock.

"That close?" She whispered.

"We can leave the offer you kn-"

"No." She interrupted. "I want you guys to take it, this is for the best." She tried seeming happy.

I went to hug her as she buried her head in my chest.

"I'm so sorry Alex." I whispered.

"Don't be. I just didn't realise how soon you would go." She replied. I sighed.

"Me too."

"Anyway," She ended with a sigh. "This is great news guys! Are we celebrating again?"

"No actually, we're doing something better." Michael smirked. Alex and I looked at each other in confusion.

"We're meeting the 1D dudes tomorrow!" Calum yelled once again.

"What?!" Alex yelled back, amazed.

"Yes!!" Michael confirmed. I just stood there, in mixed emotions.

"This is so... wow." I whispered. After all those covers, someone finally found us... and never in this world did I ever expect it to be One Direction.

"Alex?" I called to her. We were sitting down on the sofa awkwardly as Richard was watching some random comedy show on the TV.

"I was thinking..." I started. "Since we're leaving in a week, you should come over to meet my family." She looked over to me, seeing if I was being serious about it.

"Really?" She asked. I felt a hint of happiness in the question, my mood brightening up.

"Yeah, I mean, my mum knows about you, believe it or not, and I thought it would be great for you to meet them, and vice versa."

"That would be amazing, I would love to meet your family!" She agreed happily. Suddenly, she seemed worried. "What if they don't like me? I mean, I have no mum or dad so..." She said quietly.

"Hey." I interrupted her. "My parents will love you, and so will my brothers." I moved closer to her ear, "They'll be delighted to welcome you into our family."

I watched her smile to herself as she leaned in for a small kiss.

"You know what, Hemmings?" She started.

"You're not too bad. I guess getting close to the enemy was a good choice."

"You know what, Brian?"

"I feel the same way."
