It was close to twelve when Tony returned; his mother and father had gone to bed but his mother had left him mince and dumplings in the oven for him to heat up. Tony turned on the oven then made himself a cup of tea.

As he drank his tea he decided that he would go and see Suzanne in the morning as he wanted to collect his clothes and other belongings.

The mince and dumplings warmed his belly; he hadn’t eaten since breakfast; he hadn’t realised how hungry he was. When he had finished he placed the dishes in the sink then slipped quietly upstairs to his room. He folded his clothes over the chair then slipped under the covers.

It was about four forty five in the morning when Tony’s parents were awoken by his screaming; they jumped out of bed and put on their bath robes before entering their son’s room. Tony was sat up in bed his eyes were open but the expression on his face was of pure horror. He called out the names of his friends then tried reaching out to them and he patted the bed covers as if he was trying to put out a fire.

“No, No, No, he screamed as his father woke him from his torment.

Tony came around asking his parents what they were doing in his room.

They both explained that he had woken them from their beds.

“Tony apologised then lay back down onto his pillow.

Alan and Eleanor looked at each other before returning to their bedroom.

“He needs help said his mother as she got into bed beside her husband.

“Give him time Eleanor; he’s been through a traumatic experience you know.

The transition is going to take a while.”

“I know that but I have never seen anything like that in my life. It was as if he was possessed by some strange being.”

“We will discuss this in the morning dear, try to sleep. Alan held her hand as they both lay side by side. “Neither of them slept a wink.”

Tony was up at 6:00am he showered then had a shave before dressing. He made some tea then left his mother a note telling her where he was going. He wanted to catch his wife before she left for work. He took some black bin liners and two empty suit cases with him in the car. It didn’t take him long to reach his house. He looked out to see that the light was on in the living room. He got out and closed the door and brought out the cases and the bin liners from the car boot.

He thought about using the key then changed his mind and used the doorbell instead.

A minute later there was a shocked look on the face of Suzanne as she opened the door to see tony standing there.

“Hi Can I come in?

“What do you want? We are divorced now didn’t you get the letter?

“I got your letter alright he said as he made his way down the passage.
