Until the very End

19. Chapter 19

"Naevys. Tollen i lu. I chair gwannar na Valannor. Si bado, no cirar" Farther tells me as we walk around Lothlorien (Naevys. It is time. The ships are leaving for Valinor. Go now, before it is too late) I stop walking and stare at him. "They need me. I've made my choice" I tell him, father glances down at my chest where my pendant once use to be. "Why do you linger when there is no hope?" he asks as he stands in front of me, "There is still hope" I tell him. "If Aragorn survives this war, you will still be parted. If Sauron is defeated, and Aragorn is made king and all that you hoped for comes true...you will still have to taste the bitterness of mortality. Whether by the sword or the slow decay of time, Aragorn will die. And there will be no comfort for you. No comfort to ease the pain of his passing. He will come to death. An image of the splendor of the king of men in glory, undimmed before the breaking of the world. But you, my daughter, you will linger on in darkness and in doubt. As night falling winter has comes without a star. Here you will dwell, bound to your grief, under the fading trees. Until all the world has changed and the long years of your life are utterly spent" Farther described my fate. Tears fall from my eyes, "Naevys...there is nothing for you here, only death" he tells me. "Ah im, u erin veleth lin?" he questions me (Do I not also have your love) "Gerich veleth nin, ada" I tell him through a sob (You have my love, farther) and he brings me into a hug.

Farther leads me to a group of Elves and I notice that one is holding the reins of Nuala, "Take her by the safest road. A ship lays anchored in the Grey Havens. It waits to carry her across the Sea. The last journey of Naevys" Farther tells an Elf as I get helped up onto Nuala. The group of Elves and I set out of Lothlorien, the Fellowship is still asleep but I could hear someone shouting my name. I look over my shoulder to see that it was Aragorn who was calling me, he had a look of hurt on his face. I looked up to see my Farther watching me from the arch, I glance at Aragorn one last time before leaving.

It has turned to day and we are still riding, every time I look behind me I can see my home. The Fellowship will be up and wondering where I am, hopefully they will understand. I was just about to look behind me again, when I see a small boy in a white shirt run past my horse. I stop Nuala and watch as he runs into awaiting arms of a grey haired man, the man spins him around, laughing. They both stop and stare at me, the boy having a look of somberly on his face. I flick my eyes to the grey haired man to see that it's an older vision of Aragorn, I look at the boy's neck to see he's wearing my Evenstar pendant. I look down as I shed a tear as my Farther's voice ring in my head 'There is nothing for you here, only death' I remember him say. "Lady Naevys?" an elf calls my name and I look down at him, "We cannot delay" he tells me and I turn Nuala around, riding back to Lothlorien, "My Lady!" he calls but I continue on riding.

I ride past the Fellowship who call my name, ignoring them as I go straight to my farther. I jump down from Nuala and approach my Farther "Tell me what you have seen!" I say, "Naevys!" he calls me name. "You have the gift of foresight, what did you see?" I ask him, "I looked into your future and I saw death" he tells me. "There is also life" I say and he turns he's back on me, "You saw there was a child. You saw my son" I say as I walk closer to him. "That future is almost gone" he informs me, "But it is not lost!" I say. Farther sits down on a chair "Nothing is certain" he tells me, I kneel before him "Some things are certain!" I tell him, I move his head to face mine. "If I leave him now, I will regret it forever. It is time" I tell him. I stand up and grab a book from the shelves, "From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring, renewed shall be Blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be King" I read from the book, "Reforge the sword...Ada" I say (Farther) he turns his back towards me. I sit down and drop the book, I run my thumbs against my fingers. Farther picks up the book and touches my hand, "Your hands are cold" he points out as he places the book down, kneels in front of me and feels my hands. "The life of the Eldar is leaving you" Farther says, "This is my choice. Adar, whether by your will or not, there is no ship now that can bear me hence" I say to him.
