George is diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a type of Autism. He has been going to a boy's boarding school since he was seven. The other boys bully him, and he can't control his emotions properly.

One day he meets the strange and mysterious Sam, the only boy he's really ever known who doesn't tease him or try to make him angry. So what will happen when George starts to fall for this wonderful and distant boy?

“We are so grateful to you” I say, putting my hand on his shoulder. He doesn’t know what it’s like to think someone is gone. Actually, he might do. He’s just found out his mother and father have split up. My daughter wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for George. She also wouldn’t be in a coma, but maybe it’s better this way. At least now I can’t yell at her. He looks past me awkwardly, trying to see into the room behind me. We are in the hospital, and George has come to see Sam. He doesn’t know how to hide his want to get away. Aspergers, I suppose. Poor kid. When we first went in, we were shocked, and I don’t know what to say to George. How to prepare him for it. She looks okay, except for the tubes and wires coming out of her, and the oxygen mask. I laugh bitterly inside. My daughter. The doctors are analysing the results. They think she has some kind of disorder. No one just starts shaking on their own.
