My Song Recommendations

A song recommendation every day (be warned, they will probably all be weird folky songs that no one will have heard of or want to bother with.) Hozier, Sara Bareilles, Hudson Taylor, Passenger, Ben Howard, Bear's Den, Vance Joy will all probably be featured quite heavily.

Basically this is just my response to how much I love certain songs and writers at the moment and how I listen to something and get that "weird evangelical zeal, and become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans [hear it]".

Enjoy!

3. Day 2 - T-shirt Weather

T-shirt Weather by Circa Waves:

She left me and said
Baby won't you come to bed
But I can not sleep
While the sun's awake

The nights been so long
You don't get me right, don't get me wrong
Now my head tells the tales
I hardly know

I remember T-shirt weather
I remember some days
We were singing our lungs out
In the backseat together
And the seatbelts were burning our fingers
In the T-shirt weather
I remember sleeping till the early afternoon

Drinks fly like birds
Across the kitchen trouble stirs
And I'm tongue-tied by words
I used to know

So we talk till we're sick
17 went far too quick
And when my mind plays tricks
I have to go

I remember T-shirt weather
I remember some days
We were singing our lungs out
In the backseat together
And the seatbelts were burning our fingers
In the T-shirt weather
I remember sleeping till the early afternoon

It's going to be ok
It's going to be ok
It's going to be ok
It's going to be ok
It's going to be ok
It's going to be ok

I remember T-shirt weather
I remember some days
We were singing our lungs out
In the backseat together
And the seatbelts were burning our fingers
In the T-shirt weather
In the T-shirt weather
In the T-shirt weather
In the T-shirt weather

Well, for today's song I chose something a little less folky and a little more upbeat than yesterday. This song is kind of the ultimate summer song as far as I'm concerned and its pretty much impossible to listen to it without smiling or thinking about sunshine. I thought that, as it is now June (and finally starting to feel like it here in the UK) we could all do with a positive song to celebrate the T-shirt weather.

For me, this song evokes a really specific image/feeling: leaving school on the last day of the summer term when everyone's bubbling and breaking away and you drive home with the windows down.

This song is taken from Circa Wave's album 'Young Chasers' which is full of similarly summer-appropriate songs.
